BobbyC81
Well, I guess I owe you a beer on Chandler. His lack of fit in Roman's offense has to be the thing driving this decision... Let the Vernon Davis rumors re-surface!!
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower
the one thing I don't like about this is you can't coach height. if we sign Harvin I'm going to guess we have one of the shortest receiving crews in the entire league. every team needs someone 6'5" or taller to go up and get the ball in the redzone. now we don't have that guy Dorian Beckham Green on the way! WhitewalkerInPhilly
What I read between the lines from this is that the Bills are positive they are getting Clay.

OhDozeBills
Always seemed to be a team first player and good locker room guy. Truly feel he cared about this team which you can't say about all. He came up with some big plays for us and always felt he was pretty solid (not great) and a bit underappreciated here. There's only a handful of elite TE's in the league and although he wasn't one of them, I think he was average to slightly above. With that said, you have to trust what the coaches are doing and guessing he just wasn't a fit for the new offense under Roman. It would be great if we can land Clay, and with the huge contract they just gave Suh the Bills may believe Miami won't be able to match their deal. Hoping they can still land a decent FA Guard and perhaps another QB (i.e. Taylor) to add to the competition. GO BILLS!!!
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower
Dorian? Is he related to Lupati? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorial_Green-Beckham No relation to the potty. But it, I mean he, is big enough.
TPS
I think this means a few things: Clay + Gragg + Draft pick at some point (I think OL is first pick given that we haven't gotten one yet). I also think Chandler ends up in New Orleans since they now need a catching TE. Don't forget about the Canisius basketball player they signed! Best Player Available
This isn't something to be sad about. He was not a good football player. He is a nice enough guy but someone on here tried to argue last year that he was the 12th best TE because he was 12th in catches. The Bills let him test FA and every team passed and he came back for peanuts. That should tell you how he is viewed around the league. Keep acquiring talent!!A very good epitaph for his contributions as a Bill. Being the best TE on a team with nothing but scrubs at the position, doesn't make a player good at his job. ProcessAccepted
He was always a reliable guy...one bad fumble against the falcons sure. But other than that he was good for 500 yards and 40 catches. I know we have new money but this is a blue collar type guy we like. That fumble was awful. Him and SJ had those fumbles in common, as well the ability to make some great catches and drop easy ones. Hope they use the $2.25M wisely.

EmotionallyUnstable
I'm shocked. I thought regardless of who we brought in, Chandler would have stayed on as a #2. Not a big fan of this move. Best of luck to Scott Chandler. I'll never forget your shoveling touchdown dance from this years home-away-from-home victory over the Jets in Detroit. flomoe
This really sucks !!! They just keep getting rid of all of my favorite players... I don't want my team to resemble the Jets... Come on Rex keep some of the Bills on the roster... The same roster that has sucked the last 15 years. The time for change is now. Hop on, hop off, the choice is yours. Beef Jerky
How can they be so sure about clay with Miami's ability to match? This is risky!! How is it risky? Bills let Chandler go last year and NO one wanted him so he came crawling back. Edited March 11, 2015 by Beef Jerky

OldTimer1960
A very good epitaph for his contributions as a Bill. Being the best TE on a team with nothing but scrubs at the position, doesn't make a player good at his job. WAAAY too harsh, IMHO. Chandler was a good, not great, player for Buffalo. You can be snarky, if you wish, but Chandler maximized his talent and produced for the Bills (without a legit QB)

Hapless Bills Fan
Released I was first lol Whoa, I didn't see that coming. I knew we were going hard and hot after Clay, but I figured it was "both" not "either or". Do they like Marquies Gray or Gragg that much? Scott Chandler happens to have a cap number $120,000 higher than Fred Jackson this year. But, $600k of it is dead money.
Freddie's Dead
The times they are a'changin'. Scott Chandler was a very good tight end in his time here. He made some huge plays over the years. Will never forget the shoveling in the end zone and the Vikings catch. Wish him all the best. Hopefully he can land somewhere with better quarterbacking. WhitewalkerInPhilly
Really? Well, the Bills enter talks with a transition tag player. Said player's team announces a big money signing that has cap ramifications. The Bills allegedly are to go all in for Clay. Right after this, they release their starting TE for cap space. I'm not saying they get Clay, I'm saying that they are probably pretty sure they will.
seq004
I liked Chandler a lot and thought he was under rated, but if it means we get better I'm all for it. Thank you for all you did and I'll always remember your snow shovel celebration.
Rubes
Rats. There have been several players who I thought would be great to see make the playoffs with the Bills when they finally do, and Chandler was one of them. Same with Freddy. I also felt that way about Fitz. But alas, that's the way it goes. If they have a good plan to replace him and make us better, I'm not going to mourn. Hapless Bills Fan
I still think he is undervalued by the board. He will makes great compliment to a true #1. Carolina or Atlanta could really use him They had their chance to pick him up last year, didn't they? But no one did. I thought he was a decent player, but in part I must admit it's because our standards for TE play have become so low. Whaley has been pruning out the entire WR corp that was here under Nix/Gailey so I guess it's not a surprise that Chandler would be next? He was only OK as a blocker. Big boy at 6'7" 260 lbs but I felt he played "smaller" than his size - he wasn't the guy you could toss it over his head and trust him to come down with it. He doesn't seem to have that "Big boy" ability to use his mass to barrel forward a few extra yards, taking bodies with him, but I felt he should get the benefit of the doubt that he might not be catching balls that are placed to allow that given the QB stable he's worked with. But he was a good player who contributed here so I wish him well. IMO this is a "cap cut" which has more to do with his salary or his perceived salary to value ratio. Utah John
Chandler has been the kind of good-effort, low-talent player that fans of bad teams love. He seems like a really nice guy from the interviews I've seen. He got downfield with speed measured by calendars, not stop watches, but he got open a lot, was a good target, and made several big plays over the course of a season. But he was not a threat to burn a defense, or someone who could take the heat off our WRs. There are much more athletic TEs out there, who can also get open and make big plays, but who can force a defense to adjust its coverage. No one adjusted to cover Chandler. Maybe that's why he got so open -- the other team lost interest.
skibum
Chandler came through with some big-time catches over the years. Lots of those 3rd-and-impossible kind of plays. I'll miss seeing him on Sundays.
