  2. Cool story.

    We live in the San Diego area, home to a great Bills Backers bar (right, @muppy?) called the Local in PB.

    My daughter just moved to Monterey to start her junior year at college, which is about seven hours north of us (sad part of the story 😳).

    I told her she should look for a place up there to hang out with some bills fans. I know when most people think of California, they think of a big population and rightfully so. That said, Monterey only has about 30,000 people in it so she  thought the chances of finding some thing up there wasn’t good.

    Lo and behold, she’s not even looking for it mind you, and she finds a Bills Backers flyer for Monterey on the door of a sandwich shop. 😃

    So, wherever you live, or wherever you’re traveling to for vacation, make sure you look to see if there’s a Bills Backers chapter in your area. Even in a smaller city, you may be surprised to find that there’s one there or near.

    I found this website today (didn’t know about it until today) where you can check how far one is from where you live or are traveling to. I hope this link will be helpful for some.

    The season is upon us which means it's time for the 3rd annual Bills Mafia edition of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year".

    If you want to listen to the original song by Andy Williams (or sing the Bills Mafia edition to music), it's below.

    It's our most wonderful time of the year, Bills Mafia. Enjoy the 2023 season. Go Bills!

    It's the most wonderful time of the year
    With the Bills fans yelling
    And everyone telling you “this is our year”
    It's the most wonderful time of the year

    It's the hap-happiest season of all
    With those Buffalo beatings and tailgating meetings
    When games start in Fall
    It's the hap-happiest season of all

    There'll be Bills parties for hosting
    Labatts for toasting
    And fans in their stadium row
    There'll be scary drought stories
    And tales of 90s glories of

    Seasons long, long ago

    It's the most wonderful time of the year
    There'll be much blue cheese flowing

    Day 1 of our most wonderful time of the year couldn’t have gone any better.

    Mahomes

    21-39 (53.9%)
    2 TDs, 1 INT (pick 6)

    226 yards passing, 45 yards rushing

    77.5 passer rating

    I know his WRs didn’t help but who cares how he got these stats. They still happened and the Chiefs are 0-1.

    Go Bills!

  5. What's up, Bills Mafia. It's that time, woohoo!

    Throughout the upcoming season, I plan on doing these posts on Fridays after the final injury report comes out (or Saturday if it's a Monday night game). That said, based on Freddie's Dead's idea (thanks, bro), we're rolling out week 1 a little earlier.

    Back in May, I did a special offseason edition of "Excluding JA...biggest impact - Bills at Jets" after the schedule came out. I'm going to stick with my original prediction. Here it is:

    "My impact player is Tre day. With his injury behind him, he’ll be a force again and it will start right away against Rodgers. He’ll have some pass break ups and won’t even be thrown to a lot because he'll be so dominant against who he’s matched up with. He’ll either spoil Rodgers debut with a late game INT or keep him flustered and off track by having an early INT and some pass break-ups."

    Who ya got, Bills Mafia? (You can make a prediction even if you didn’t participate in the off-season prediction thread)

    For the people who did participate in our special offseason edition of "Excluding JA...biggest impact - Bills at Jets" here were your predictions. You can keep your original prediction or give a new one.

    @John from Riverside - Dalton Kincaid

    @Mynamemike - Groot

    @Bigvinny - On D- Elam with a few pbus; on O- Kincaid

    @NewEra - made a prediction for the season, not for the Jets game. His season prediction was Von Miller

    @Buffalo_Stampede - DeAndre Hopkins

    @The Wiz - Dorian Williams

    @Clyde Smith - Micah Hyde

    @hondo in seattle - Stefon Diggs

    @JohnBonhamRocks - Had a .gif of Von Miller saying "Bills Mafia"

    @Success - Damien Harris

    @90sBills - Aaron Rodgers

    @Freddie's Dead - Dalton Kincaid

    @frostbitmic - Jordan Poyer

    @muppy - DK2 (Knox and Kincaid)

    @Nextmanup - Aaron Rodgers

    @ganesh - James Cook

    @WMDman - Tre White

    @LyndonvilleBill - Dorian Williams

    @GreggTX - Dawson Knox

    This may be common knowledge, but I didn't realize we've played the Jets 3 times to start the year under Sean McDermott.

    2017: 21 - 12 (Home)

    2019: 17 - 16 (Away)

    2020: 27 - 17 (Home)

    And now again in 2023. McDermott is 4-2 in week 1 overall, getting blown out by the Ravens in 2018 (not his fault, team was terrible), getting upset by the Steelers at home in 2021, and last year's league opener blowout win vs the Rams.

    I know week 1 has a lot of divisional matchups (8 games are in division/8 games outside of it), but is it normal for other teams to kick off the season against the same opponent so often?

    A week from now, he’ll be 4-0 against them in openers.

    Go Bills!

    I won’t be able to make the Raiders game but me and my family are pretty sure we’re going to the Local for the Monday night opener. Woohoo!

  9. Man, I hope he holds out until week 8. Go Bills!

    "’Chris, can you please come back?’ Kelce said on the ‘New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce’ podcast, which he appears on regularly with his brother, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. ‘You're really scaring me, man. I don't get it. You must know something that I don't know because I just don't get it. I really want to get another Super Bowl ring with you, brother. This is me bargaining you to just come back and play football for the Chiefs. Please, we need you. We need you bad, and I don't know what the situation is.’”

  10. In context, his comments were based off of the Ravens record 24 preseason game winning streak coming to an end.

    But, he hits the nail on the head on why preseason is still important. Not the outcome of games, the 90s Bills proved that the outcome doesn’t matter, but fighting for a spot on the field matters.

    Even when we go to an 18 game season (which I’m in favor of), preseason will still have its place.

    "Preseason games that people want to write about and say they don't mean anything because you never played the game. You never were out there in a preseason game. You never were fighting for a spot on the field. And yet you have the audacity to say that the effort that somebody puts into that to fight and win a game like that is meaningless."

    Yep. I'm thinking Rodgers could get very divisive if things start going badly. He's already basically called out the O-line for their pass blocking.

    I doubt that Rodgers' ego can tolerate being the QB of a mediocre offense for 5 or 6 games.  In his mind, Rodgers knows he's the greatest QB ever.  I agree with Fleezoid that Rodgers would become divisive to the entire team in short order with a poor start.   He repeatedly demonstrated a penchant to blame everybody but himself for the Packers' missteps over the last couple of years.

    Even if the Jets are going to be a good team and a tough out, they have a decent chance to start poorly. While not a murderer’s row, their first part of the schedule is pretty tough. Depending on how poor of a start, it could be a tough hole to get out of.

  12. "I could see that changing, yeah," wide receiver Corey Davis said. "He's been real patient, real lenient with us, and working with us and making sure we get everything down, which is what we need. But I could imagine it going the other way if it doesn't pick up."

    I am hoping JEST beat our playoffless record.

    I’m hoping for that too, bro.

    While our playoff drought was bad, at least it’s not the longest playoff drought in NFL history.

    The Commanders, Cardinals (St. Louis/Chicago), Steelers (was surprised by this one) and the Saints have had longer playoff droughts.

    Then, we’re tied with the Broncos, Eagles, Giants and Browns at 17 years.

  14. We’ve been hearing good things about him. Starting with Dolphin players and fans sad to see him go to JA bragging on him to having a solid camp. What do you guys think Sherfield’s ceiling is with this team?

    I know it’s just training camp, but just when you thought you’ve seen all the throws from JA, check this out! Nice grab too.

    And check out this one handed grab.

  15. While I don’t know the exact date in 1998, I wanted to take a moment to give a shout-out to TBD with us on the cusp of the 2023 season.

    Thanks, TBD, for giving us all things Bills for the last 25 years! Thanks to @SDS (and any other creators/owners of the Stadium Wall) as well as to present and past mods who have given their time to keep this place going.

    In honor of 25 great years, please share a couple things on why you appreciate TBD and where you were in 1998. Here’s my mine:

    -If it wasn’t for this site, I would’ve never known I could get the NFL Sunday ticket for free or at a steep discount. TBD community members have literally saved me thousands of dollars. THANKS!

    -I’m grateful for all the Bills news. I don’t live in upstate NY, but I feel very up-to-date because of TBD and the community members on here. THANKS!

    -In 1998, I was a junior in college at Colorado State University (the CSU Rams)

    Here’s some fun facts about 1998:

    -A gallon of gas was a $1.06

    -Titanic is the highest grossing movie

    -ER is TV’s #1 show

    -Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine" stays at #1 for thirteen consecutive weeks

    -Bill Clinton is president

    -Popular tech words are “AOL”, “reboot” and “dial up”

    -The first mp3 player was released in Japan

    -Minimum wage was $5.15

    -The Denver Broncos won the SB

    -Most importantly, our beloved Buffalo Bills were in 3rd place (out of a five team division) with a 10-6 record. We lost to the Dolphins in the WC round, 24-17

    Why are you thankful for TBD and where were you in 1998?

    Here’s the team photo from 1998. Go Bills!
