Apparently, what you can’t comprehend is that he is also a punter too (that is his listed position after all) who just so happens to be terrible at it. But he is an experienced punter who understands the value of hang time, has experience with this crew - in terms of Reid and Tyler - important both for punting and holding, and has played in playoff games. Given where we are he was the best, most sensible, option. If he can get his punts off, not have a block and not leave any crazy short fields that is the best outcome. My true hope is that they shut Martin down for the week and let Haack wear himself out in practice getting reacclimated, then Martin is able to be active come game day. If his net average is 5 yards less... this is a loss of somewhere around 15-30 yards of field position. Haack actually has a higher net average than Martin this season fwiw.
