zow2
The fans that attend today need to police other fans.. I'm sure some drunk Bills fans could act like morons, but I wouldn't put it past Steelers backers to try and cause trouble. The Refs could threaten a 15 yarder, but technically it's not in the rule book. Edited January 15 by zow2 1 2

Gregg
Will the Steelers get a penalty if one of their fans throws the snowball. You know they will be there. Those terrible towels travel well. Edited January 15 by Gregg 1

Choose the freebies wisely.
EasternOHBillsFan
Fortunately today the other game is in Tampa, or the Philly fans might throw car batteries at their own players.

Jauronimo
It was embarrassing that fans had to be warned in the Miami game. I hope we don't see similar bull#### today but I'm not optimistic. 1
T master
What they need to do is f anyone throws a snow ball bring that person down on the field & give one of the players a free shot at them full on !! On second thought scratch that with as many drunk Bills fans as there are they would be lining up to throw the first snowball just to get out on the field so they could get their bell rung by a player . 0017
Let’s hope the Bills blow them out early and we can just take a bunch of 15 yard penalties because it doesn’t matter.

The refs bluffed and the fans bought it. Might not happen again now that the fans know they can’t penalize just the Bills.

Yeah because if I was a fan of the opposing team I’d be throwing them to get a penalty on the Bills.

Generic_Bills_Fan
I think that was an empty threat that they never would’ve enforced…how could they prove it was a bills fan that threw it? If I was a dolphins fan I would’ve been throwin snowballs like crazy after that announcement 2
gonzo1105
Refs are actually not technically allowed to throw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the fans. Can't be enforced. Thats why there is security and police in the stadium to haul away idiots who do it.

letsgoteam
Yea it can't be a real penalty. You would have fake fans in disguise doing stuff to help their team.

TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th
How would the refs ever be able to determine if it was a pittaburgh or bills fan that threw the snowball? There will probably be close to 25% steelers fans.

WotAGuy
Where is that Milano poster - I’m sure he would claim it’s a freedom he wants to exercise and everyone else is soft, not like back in the day when we threw snowballs at cars with impunity. BigDingus
I know it's not technically a rule, but it's been done before in college, specifically for throwing things onto the field (sadly, it was against my school) - Here's one for snowballs, against Colorado State (after a warning was given) - Thankfully, they don't do this anymore... threatening the fans for too much crowd noise - Even if there's no official rule, I believe this is how it would go down - 1) Fans are warned over PA 2) If it continues, game is paused & delayed as long as possible while security tries to make an example of some people 3) Play resumes, but with a warning from refs 4) Officials make the call to penalize the home team 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct (or even delay of game) 5) After game, NFL makes a statement that says "oops, technically not a rule," and apologizes, but nothing can be done to fix it. They'll continue on about player/fan safety, blah blah blah, but it's too late at this point. If there's one thing we know about officiating, it's that the league will sometimes admit to bad calls, but it will NEVER change the actual on-field results. Yep, the refs make an announcement or two, but if the fans call their bluff there's really nothing they can do. I mean if it gets crazy, a coach can pull their team off the field I suppose.
