They showed it afterwards, too - and talked about how that lane was open.

That would have been cruel.

I feel like that screenshot is misleading, we had nine defensive backs out there way upfield and Lewis was already getting around a block

I mean...pause the video at 13 seconds (😬) and it's clear that it's not open.

Yep, people are being dramatic about it, but it clearly wasn't open.

It is misleading.  There was no lane that would have got him a touchdown.  The blockers were too far ahead, and the blockers are O line blockers, not punt team blockers.  Safeties were also in play, just not in frame.  With the speed we had out there (relatively) there was no way he was getting through.  It's an incredibly low probability play that we covered well.

We are talking about that in this thread.

There are 2 posters who are adament that we played this well.

We didn't.

We played it poorly and only had 2 or 3 Bills defenders against 7 Chargers.

Thankfully the Chargers runner hesitated and Neal made a fantastic play to read the cross-field lateral and move to cut off any cutback lane.

Open your eyes. And you just contradicted yourself in the same post. "We played it poorly" but..."Neal made a fantastic play"....LOL....as did Benford by the way ....

That's Neal.

Who I have told you several times is the REAL player who blew up the play (not Benford)

He is the 1 Bill who read this perfectly the entire time.

ONE player making a great play does not mean we played it properly.

It means ONE player fixed a major problem that was developing.

If the line lets 5 free rushers through to hit Josh, but he spins around, does his Allen magic, and throws a TD ... does that mean the line played it well? No. It means, ONE player fixed a major issue.

Neal made a great play. One player. I've been teling you this in the other thread. NEAL. He fixed a major issue by himself. We need to fix this so in the future the whole defense is playing this properly.

We had 3 or 4 guys tackling one lateraling player. Falling over themselves. It was bad.

.

Yea that’s the nuance that collingsworth whiffed in the broadcast lol…guys were already engaged with blockers 15 yards downfield from where the ball carrier had it…very much doubt that hole was holding up which is probably what spooked the chargers dude

in the music city miracle the titans made that lateral and they had an escort of blockers running full speed at defenders

Neal (coming from the side) spooked the runner. You can actually see him look at Neal as he starts to run.

The hope had 6 blockers and 2 defenders. Very much doubt that wouldn’t hold up.

Yes! I was at the game and as it flew across the field to the other side you could see like 5 or 6 chargers blockers out front and a whole open field with like 2 bills defenders. I yelled out “oh f*ck” so loud haha. Not sure which bills defender forced the guy with the ball back towards the middle of the field but if he didn’t…………..

That was Benford, number 47

There you go, @Einstein. I finally gave you the answer.
