Don’t underestimate the impact DaQuan had on Oliver’s play.

I did see Poona playing will be interesting to see his snap count vs Phillips.

It would be nice if he plays back to the form he had in Seattle, is disruptive and can demand the double teams like DaQuan has.

You are spot on regarding how teams can and will double Oliver if they decide they can block our other DT with one.

Hopefully we can get the big guy back for the stretch run.

That was my thought watching it live. I don’t think we ever got a good replay. Just commercial break then a ruling.

I thought the same thing. They showed one replay and it looked pretty close, figure they had the right call when it came back from commercial.

I might have missed somethings but I don’t know if Settle had any impact at all and Phillips very little.

I sure hope Poona can step up.

So I don’t want to worry anybody but….

I believe Hailee Steinfeld has been in attendance for @Jets, Jags, and now Giants.

It’s unfortunate for her, but if this continues she may get the Romo/Jessica Simpson treatment of being known as a jinx.

She was seen shopping with Josh Allen's mom before the Miami game.  Maybe she just needs to do more shopping.

Depends.  What impact are you looking for?

The first impact the 1TDT/NT is supposed to have is "keep the linebackers clean so they can make plays".

Judging by the LB play, for the most part, it worked.

Good for her I guess. So she’s basically at every game? I assume she was basically here all week. London, Sabres game, Giants. Kinda cool this celebrity has more or less been living in Buffalo the last month.

Did not realize it was a right shoulder injury  😬

I wouldn't assume she was in Buffalo all week.  She and Josh are both of the tax bracket to travel by private jet where and when they please.

And that's just a whole different world than commercial flying when it comes to the time it takes.

What this game told me was that the Buffalo Bills need to draft offensive lineman and secondary help along with a good go too running back. Put Thurman Thomas, Joe Cribbs on this team the Bills are a much better team. I don’t trust any of our current running backs where I believe they can take a game over there all not good enough. The offensive line has to be number one in the draft the Bills need line help badly so they can dictate play at the line of scrimmage in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

I think bad O-Line protection calls from Allen had far more to do this with than bad line play. Although that might be on Morse too because I thought I remember hearing that Morse was the one who set the line calls to take that off Allen's plate...or at least he used to when Josh was still getting comfortable and getting his feet wet.

Far too many times last night where the multiple people on the O-Line were standing around blocking nobody while 2 players were on top of Allen right off the snap...that points to them blocking the wrong people/direction.

Interesting look...Davis appears to be down with possession?  Why was this not overturned on replay review...should have been looked at by the booth since it was a turnover?

Anyone notice how Oliver HAD Taylor on that scramble and if he brought him down that is probably the game as time very well may have expired?

Not being critical of Ed. He’s having a great year but if we had a different outcome that play would have been magnified.

I thought that was a DB not Oliver that should have tackled him in bounds.

They need to be more consistent, game to game.

The Bills are the type to be unstoppable one week, and easily score 45-50.  Then a week later, they seem asleep for the first 2-3 quarters and barely manager 10-14 points.  That's the type of nonsense that makes you Top 5 in NFL rankings, but earns an early playoff exit.

It's better to be a team that will consistently score 25-30 pretty much every single game.

what team would you say is the golden standard for such consistency?

"God" is a man-made irrational belief ... McDermott's sermonizing and evangelism embarrasses the Bills organization, insults atheist Bills fans, and demonstrates McDermott to be a painfully ignorant human being, just more evidence he is ill-equipped intellectually to compete with the cream of the NFL coaching crop.  Last night's game was an abomination, means nothing that the Bills "won."  It was a disgraceful performance and that's on McDermott.

This team is in shambles right now. We're broken in a lot of ways and it all starts with coaching not having an understanding as to what we do well and what we don't. Every time we go to shotgun, it's like the opponent knows what is coming.

Allen is about as perfect a QB as you can get when running play action from under center and our RBs average almost 3 yards a carry more from under center as well. Yet, Dorsey insists on running shotgun 70% of the time. And don't get me started about lining up in shotgun with literally 6" to get for a TD and having 3 chances to do it. Outside of a couple real nice play designs, Dorsey was a mess. We are not putting our players in a position to succeed. Wins matter, but it's hard to feel good about that one.

On a better note, though, the more you watch that Allen TD, the more insane a throw it becomes.  I don't think there is another QB in the league that completes that ball, including Mahomes.

The Bills lose the opener

Fan sentiment is week-to-week because we all care about something over which we have zero control.

Yeah and even the 90's Super Teams played like Garbage at times. It happens. The Chiefs haven't been right all season. I fully expect them to be right there at the end of the year

Bottom line is I had no idea what to expect from the defense, and they stood up.  They delivered a performance that hopefully they can build on in coming weeks.  Because you're right, they'll have to.

For perspective: D is right now playing down $58M worth of players (cap hits +/-, incl Von here).

And still showing up.

Imagine your (not gigantic) business taking a $58 million hit, and still putting out quality product.

If there had been message boards back then, there would have been similar meltdowns.

Our backs are fine.  I'd rather work on the OL as you suggested.  Give the backs a better line and they'll get the yards, and Josh will have more time to throw to receivers who have more time to get open.  And Josh will stay healthier.

Of course, I'd love to see the Bills have a Thurman-quality RB.  But how many of those are available in the draft?  With the RB position devalued, it seems the best athletes now play other positions.  Back in OJ's day, for example, the best athletes wanted to be running backs.  That's not true anymore.

in the modern NFL, where every player on D is trying to punch the ball out more than make a tackle, fighting for yards in a scrum on 1st and 2nd down is not a wise decision.

Agree.

I am all for fighting to get to the sticks, but only if you can wrap up the ball or switch it to the hand nearest the sideline.

That way if it is punched out it likely goes harmlessly out of bounds.

Josh had to learn how to tote the rock in traffic, remember how often he would fumble back in the day?

It can be taught and Gabe has a bigger frame and should play bigger than he does at times.

Davis does excel at blocking.

Other than that, go down and live for the next down if it is not a 3rd or 4th down situation.

I am pretty sure the coaches have been preaching YAC and Davis, who is terrible at YAC, was trying to accommodate.  He failed.

I saw a screenshot where his knee was down.  I didn’t see it from the stands and they didn’t show a good replay.

Was it clearly out?

You can see in the screenshot that the ball is already part of the way down his forearm. It was definitely moving before his knee was down.

It was a fumble.

The ball was clearly loose before his knee touched down.

If it was one of our defenders punching the ball out we would find it an easier call to defend.

Was a drive killer that hurt quite a bit as they were just getting into a good rhythm.

All turnovers are booth reviewed.

Only challenged ones, turnover on downs in normal time play.   Booth replay officials are solely responsible for stopping the game to initiate a review on any play that starts after the two-minute warning in each half and throughout overtime.

I guess I was looking for more penetration on passing plays. I think I got spoiled by Jones play and as a result better penetration by Oliver.
