Is it just me or do we always let offenses convert 3rd downs on us?

We are not good on critical down and distance. Personally, I think it has a lot to do with no Micha Hyde

I guess this makes more sense to what im feeling.

Its always a big 3rd down that gets converted and just kills me. lol

Third down in general, our defense is 6th in the league.

I have to think that a lot of Bills fans only see it one way.  Imagine how opposing team's fanbases feel about the Bills

when it comes to 3rd downs from Josh and the offense.

We’re 6th in the league giving up 36.6% conversions.  Better than every current playoff team minus the giants 35.3%

Last 4 games-

Miami 4/16

NE 4/13

bears 2/12

Miami 5/14

yes, we give up some terrible 3rd and longs that make us all sick.

Overall the Bills defense fell from 1st overall on 3rd down defense in 2021 to 7th in 2022. Still a top 10 unit even with a lot of injuries. It seems any 3rd down issues are perceived rather than real. Most teams would love to be where the Bills are on 3rd down defensively.

Nope not all 3rd downs, all 3rd and longs

This^

As pointed out, the Bills are statistically pretty good on third downs. But it feels like at least once a game we give up a third and 10 or more that just feels deflating.

I'd be curious to know what percentage of our third downs surrendered are third and ten or more. I think as fans it's just cumulative fatigue from seeing that a lot this year.

I swear man...I feel like this whole year 3rd and long is about as easy as it gets for opposing offenses.

Am I crazy for thinking we are awful on 3rd down?

Only when it's over 15 yards.  Under that we don't bother, we just stop them.  The long ones we like to give them.

It happens every game, even yesterday, which was one of the D’S better outings. It’s a fraiser thing, has been for years. It’s why I’m highly critical of him

So overall ppg allowed and overall 3rd down defense aren’t that important to you, but some third and 10+ conversions are ?

Nope, you’re just like me and finally used to a team that is competent. So, stopping a team on third down just seems like the thing they should do every time.

And therefore when they don’t stop them (which happens to every team and every defense) it really stands out in our minds.

What everyone is feeling is that this team gives up probably a higher percentage of third and fourth and long conversions than is normal.

I kind of wonder if it is almost harder for them to be in that third and long situation—  it is similar to playing prevent. You are almost playing too much on your heels.

In every big loss it creeps up, I don’t care how often they stop Mac Jones. Minnesota it was laughably bad, Miami scored on 3rd and 22. It gets glossed over in wins, but happened multiple times yesterday too, and asi said, that was one of their better games

But... that isn't a clever quip...

That's better. I thought maybe you hadn't put the whiskey in your coffee this morning.

So... Bills opponents... should actually try losing yardage on 1st and 2nd down?

😊

And they still gave up a 3rd and 19, and 2nd and 18, which was responsible for 10 pts… still happened, even in a pretty good outing for them. But I look forward to the D giving up 40 next week, and you blaming Josh for it

If Josh has 2 picks and 3 fumbles, one of them for 6, I will blame him for it.

Incredible that 2 picks and 3 fumbles are handwaved and 4/16 is handwaved.  It's fun living in an alternative reality, huh
