Boatdrinks Posted January 16, 2023 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Overall the Bills defense fell from 1st overall on 3rd down defense in 2021 to 7th in 2022. Still a top 10 unit even with a lot of injuries. It seems any 3rd down issues are perceived rather than real. But it feels like at least once a game we give up a third and 10 or more that just feels deflating. I'd be curious to know what percentage of our third downs surrendered are third and ten or more. So, stopping a team on third down just seems like the thing they should do every time. I kind of wonder if it is almost harder for them to be in that third and long situation— it is similar to playing prevent. In every big loss it creeps up, I don’t care how often they stop Mac Jones. Minnesota it was laughably bad, Miami scored on 3rd and 22.
