NFL Week 8: Packers at Bills - post game thread

The D I think got in the heads of the offense tonight.

Some strange play calling in the second half and Josh was definitely off in the 2nd half. Regardless, a win is a win is a win.  Knock the rust off from the bye and get back in the groove.

Well that and they are playing the easiest schedule in football. Flip the two schedules and the Eagles ain’t undefeated but the Bills would be

Green Bay ain't no great shakes this year and we coughed it up again... this team needs to tighten it up on "O" and take better care of the ball.

Glad we are sitting where we are at, just want to see some improvement in that area going forward.

I think a lot of our guys got caught up in the jawing... the GB secondary was definitely playing that game.

The Packers knew playing chippy was their only chance.  The word has been out for a few years that we have some guys who will get emotional and take dumb penalties.  Fortunately, except for Gabe that one time, they kept it in check.  Teammates would always hustle over and get them away from confrontations.  I liked seeing that.

From an outside perspective, it looks like Rodgers is begrudgingly playing football for this coach. He doesn’t like the philosophy or play calling but he feels trapped. Like a co-worker who says “Just doing my job” when they’re clearly being too rigid in what’s being asked of them out of spite.

Von miller just said he could not believe that they kept running it and even asked Rodgers about it. Sure it was working in general stats wise  but didn’t trend a W

Very disappointing effort by Josh Allen and the Bills overall . Were a little shaky in the first half and pretty bad in the 2nd. C- and they have a lot of work to do to maintain their #1 status.

We all know McDermott hates dumb turnovers and Josh had 2.

I think McD should sit him and start Keenum against the Jets.

More like Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Indianapolis and New England (OK, wind game).

Not like PB, JV, Indy or NE at all as Allen led the Bills Offense to 24 first half points.  The 2nd half was weird and that includes Allen being off.  But Allen led the Bills on 3 straight TD drives and then drove them 60 yards right before half for a FG to take a commanding 24 - 7 halftime lead.

The season is long.  Look at the mini slumps the last 3 Super Bowl winners went threw during those seasons.  The Bills and Allen had a 2nd half slump in a game they led 27 - 10 halfway through the 4th quarter.  The only impact this game will have on the rest of the season is that the Bills got a win and hold onto first place in their division and the AFC.

Last year was last year. I don't see that happening with Von here this year.

I don't think Von has much impact on offense! And we only conceded nine back then.

Course not saying this year is the same as last year, but we hardly hit our straps after the bye in 2021 - our record was WLWLWLL. In 2020 we had a much later bye and won all six after it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Milano at the podium … what did we do to deserve this

Pretty sure Milano is a football robot that McDermott just keeps in storage between games.

No, the second half Josh was like him in those games last season. In the first half, he seemed to be in his groove as he has been for the year so far.

Agree with the rest.

It was working for them though. If you can't pass, do what is working and they were chewing off huge chunks of yards on the ground.  More than I would like to see.  They essentially turned the needed pass plays into effective run plays.  The Bills might like to think they can play nickel D all the time and still stop the run, but they didn't do a good job of it tonight.

Shaky in the first half? they led 24 - 7 and after a 3 and out on their first possession Allen and the Bills scored 3 straight TD's and closed out the half with a FG.  Meanwhile GB scored only one TD. If that was a "shaky" first half then I would like to see what you consider a solid half of football.

Also a lot of you wanted a Run First Bills offense. You got it. How did you like it????

not a single person. youre acting like the child that starts throwing away his toys cause someone told him to clean his room.  if allen isnt making uncharacteristic mistakes, and gabe isnt dropping balls thats a beautiful offensive showing.

lets hope pass game goes back to normal and our running games looks as sharp from here out (less touches though)

Don't forget that part.

But yeah you are right in that they didn't come out strong post bye last year.

I'm hoping they learned their lesson.

packers play a boring and troll game. after they witnessed the greatness of allen, they thought 'ok lets just play the pass' and thats what they did. all they could do was run, and thats what they dared us to do.

made dull second half. they were just dying a slow death

I get that but I disagree too. The Packers couldn't get into a shootout and win the game. Their best chance was to pound the ball running and get some timely big throws from Rodgers. Their game plan in the second half was the right one. It wasn't likely a winning strategy because the Bills were clearly the superior team. However, it gave them the best chance to compete and maybe squeak out a win. I think they errored on going for it on 4th down. They should have taken the 3 points. Also, I thought but was strange how they played with no real urgency at the end of the game.

For half the offenses in the league this would have been their best performance of the year. Think about that for a second and realize how spoiled we have become.

I guarantee the Packers haven't played with that much fire & emotion all year, but still trailed a good chunk of the game by 17. We're going to get everyone's best shot, especially in a primetime game.

The Packers played like their season was on the line. Because it was.

The pack was never going to win this game and they knew it. It was kind of sad really. I expected more as I reluctantly predicted a GB win but I gave them too much credit.

You wanna know something there’s about 10 people on this board that would say Josh deserves to be benched over his second half.

A large percentage of those posters have been "realistic" fans for years.

6-1 is looking pretty good to me, so I have a hard time relating.

they knew they couldn't win.. Their coach said that coming out for the second half.  Testament to how good the Bills are.

a double digit win feels like a loss.. times sure have changed

I think our fanbase is used to Excellence with a capital E.

Tonight we gained the W but not excellence. There were some excellent runs and individual plays. But 2nd half was a bit grim. . So we are salty.

I like that the expectation is perfection. But that's not reasonable or a logical expectation.

It is what it is. We Won.....NEXT. you know #17 is his own most harsh critic. He isnt perfect but he'll learn from his mistakes and shake off this games funk,

True, four wins to finish the regular season off last year, all by double digit scores.

I'm thankful the Jets are without Hall next week but we need to smarten up. Hopefully today will act as a warning against sloppiness.

Solid first half and very poor second half. Good thing the Bills were the superior team.

In exchange for chewing up all the clock for zero return.  Almost 11 mins of clock in the third quarter for a return of 3 points while down 3 scores.  You dont win a football game that way.
