BearNorth
Yes, I worked in payroll [troops really appreciate getting paid correctly], spent time at Beale which was a SR-71, KC-135, and B-52 base, KI Sawyer which was a KC-135 and B-52 base, and U-Tapao Thailand, which had KC-135's and B-52. You should thank the tanker pilots as well, they give our aircraft nearly unlimited range. Those B-52's in Iraq were flying 7,000 mile round trips. 3

I think it is more in celebration of being part of something noble in spirit and greater than one's self. I think there are certain professions, like the military, law enforcement, firefighters, etc., that embody a sense of selflessness and sacrifice for a greater good. The overwhelming majority of men and women in those professions do what they do for all the right reasons and understand there is always the potential for instances where the outcome isn't good, in terms of injury, loss of life, trauma, etc., (and some instances of dealing with the consequences of people themselves within these professions who aren't good). Yet they do it anyway. There is something special about that. I am happy to have been even a small part of that. And I know you weren't saying anything that was critical or disrespectful. I know what you meant. Just trying to put what I feel into words. Edited November 11, 2021 by billsfan1959 3

sherpa
And the reunions are great. Spent last Thurs-Sunday at my Navy Aviation Officer Candidate School reunion. Our 45th class anniversary. Did it on Pensacola Beach at the Blue Angels end of season homecoming airshow. Saw the F-35 and F-22 demos as well as the Blues. Had many conversations with guys who were involved in those projects after getting off active duty. Tremendous comradery and great food/stories. Also allowed me to miss the debacle in Jacksonville.
