Dolphins still alive. I’m watching this game and surprised we only beat Miami 35-0.

Tied the game with 2 seconds left!

I trust the Raiders to collapse late under Gruden, but I’d like it to start today with the Dolphins. Don’s need them at 3-0, but I want Miami to suck too. Maybe no OT score and a tie? Just wear them out!

A tie would be excellent.

Blocking a kick off the foot takes effort and skill.  Goaltending doesn't.

But it is a different game. Rules allows it, don't try the kick if you do not want the defense to have a chance to return it.

Well its ok to block the kick so why would it matter where you block the kick? Honestly didn't know it was a rule.

As I said, goaltending is easy and cheap, requiring little to no skill or effort.  I'm pretty sure back in the day at least one team employed a "be real tall under the goal posts" specialist like a modern team would have a kickoff or return specialist.  Dude couldn't run or really do anything else, but being 7 foot tall and able to hop up and down he could do.

There is literally a rule against goaltending kicks at the goal posts.  Teams used to actually do that.

I remember the Chiefs would put a guy back there years ago. I had no idea they put a goaltending rule into the NFL? That seems wrong to me. If you can keep the ball from going thru the goalposts, that’s the idea! It shouldn’t matter where you stop it. It’s more exciting with that option.

Goaltending isn't the same thing as returning a kick that comes up short...  The rules do NOT allow goaltending, they allow kicks that naturally come up short to be returned.  Keep up.

This is not college football.  No one cares about how good a win looks.

Miami has already proven they are a tough out against the Raiders win or lose.

It's not about looks, it's about tiebreakers.

Thx, I didn’t doubt you, I just don’t like it. It would add another element, but I guess there’s a reason I haven’t seen it in forever.

What the heck makes it “a palpably unfair act”? My athlete can jump high, your kicker needs to be better. Oh well……

Is it just me or do you feel bad for Brian Flores? Seems like he’s a good coach, he just has poopy QBs

Not sure he's a good coach yet...seemed like they were getting lucky every week last year.  And his first season does it really matter that he was competitive ish with zero talent? That doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna have a great season with lots of talent

Have your high jumper block the kick at the LoS then.
