It is all postering - He has been going to be traded shortly now for weeks.

I am not worried.  Let it come to us.  Do not give up picks and big salary for a guy that is not wanted on his current team.

Let them cut him or let someone else take the trade - give us a better player at a lower salary.

Correct. Howie Roseman, pulled the same stunt with Cason Wentz, which was about to be traded for 2 weeks for two 1st rounders.  Everyone seems to know what's up in Philly, I'm not buying it.  In this year with the cap crunch I really don't think Ertz's contract is tradeable.

Only way Eagles get a 3rd is if Ertz is willing to restructure and take a pay cut for his new team.

Does anyone think the Bills could pick up David Njoku from the Browns for a Fifth round pick?

One of the articles the other day was suggesting it was either a 5th or 6th for Ertz, or a 7th for the guy from the Rams

Njoku is due over $6M in base salary this year........and probably hasn't yet done enough to be worth half of that $.........and will want to have a big year and hit free agency.

A player like Ertz is more of a proven commodity and more likely to be amenable to a team friendly extension, IMO.

How does that even work? “Hey Bills, it’s Zach. Will you trade for me? Just don’t give up too much. “

It means his agent has formal permission to negotiate a new contract with other team's agents, without risking a tampering charge.

The thing is, at this point....the Eagles need $18M of cap space by tomorrow at 4 pm and cutting Ertz gets them like 40% of the way there.... so why would teams trade anything?

Well, this Eagles beat reporter thinks the Eagles will be handsomely compensated:

I know. Just messing around. I would definitely trade our 3rd for him if his health checks out. He was great before last year.

Some of these agents have been working on the parameters of newly signed free agent deals with officials from teams other than the one their client is contractually obligated to since before the Super Bowl.

If the Bills want to negotiate prospective terms with a players agent they just need to make a call..........no team or agent is recording those discussions to be submitted for tampering.

The guy have caught several clutch 1st downs and scored game winning TD in SB vs NE. Broke season record of Witten. Go for him . Let him blow so for Bills

Why not get Antonio Gates?  He is spent too.

Looking forward to just missing out on Ertz

Be prepared to hear "Ertz heads to the Chargers, Bills were the other team in the mix." :wallbash:

FTR - I'd be quite happy if this post doesn't age well

I would too. I just can’t imagine if would take that little but it would be an awesome pickup.

A broken player owed $8.5M?  They should be sending Beane the 4th rounder to take him.

So one down year means the player is broken? Ok...

You did see the Eagles play right?

I don’t know that it is Daboll not be interested in TE routes or if it is our QB - like point 2.  Nothing wrong with Josh, but he is/has typically used WRs as his primary pass catching target since college.

I can't tell you how the TE were being used, but in 2016 Hollister (who is now with Seattle) caught about 1/4 of Allen's passing yards

(Gentry had more than half).  In 2017 I don't think Wyo had a passable TE on the roster.

I personally felt that Ertz was "phoning it in" and not trying with Philly last year.  I "get it" that players make career decisions when the team is losing, but I have concern that it becomes a habit, just like anything else a guy keeps doing.

It's hard for me to buy that Daboll wouldn't be interested in TE routes.  He was the freakin' TE coach in NE fergoshsakes.

Totally agree - that is why I don’t believe people that say Daboll doesn’t like TEs.

I think Josh has shown himself to be most comfortable when he has a variety of routes available and that happens best out of the spread with multiple WRs.

72 targets, 36 catches, 1 TD, 5 drops, and 4.7 yards per target.  There are “down years” and there are “worst pass catcher in the league” years.  He’s over 30 and is the 7th highest paid TE.

You want to give up a draft pick for the right to pay him?

We're not going after Ertz.  I'm not saying Dawson doesn't need someone to push him but I don't see this as a fit.

I disagree I think Ertz is the perfect fit for this team

This board is funny

"How about a 2nd for Tony Gonzalez in his prime?"

Two Bills drive posters: "No thanks, I'll pass"

😂

Zach Ertz 2021 is Tony Gonzalez in his prime?  Are we on planet Illusionon?
