Bills Stat Pacing through 7 Games

This means absolutely nothing, but still fun to look at for me.  Through 7 games, the following players are on pace for:

Allen - 4613 Passing Yards, 466 Rushing Yards (5079 Total Yards) and 43 Total Touchdowns

Motor - 683 Rushing Yards, 2 Touchdowns

Diggs - 1378 Receiving Yards, 7 Touchdowns

Beasley - 1074 Receiving Yards, 5 Touchdowns

Poyer - 96 Tackles (not a number you want for a safety, but he's in the box and covering shallow a lot)

I really do think Beasley will get to 1,000 if he stays healthy all season.  Josh is beginning to understand how important he is to controlling possession.

I wonder if they have stats on tackles.  Like what is the average yards per tackle

Yep if Daboll truly wants to run the Patriots offense he needs to start feeding Beasley. Eventually teams will have to give him extra attention which will open routes downfield. Thankfully I think Daboll and Allen have finally figured this out. Patriots have bad LBs, Beasley should have a great matchup.

I wouldn't mind seeing Allen's numbers go down if Motor's go up.  In fact I'd prefer it.  I'd really like it if JAs stayed on the pace they are and Motor's went up.

Ya Beasley is super important in this offense. He's going to help lots moving forward. When D play more cover 2 or whatever scheme (not man). My biggest fear is great pass rushers like 49ers and solid all around D (Steelers). I think makes Allen little rattled. But he's making adjustments in his game witch is great.

If Allen can keep up a 70% comp percentage and the D can improve (i'm wondering if it's just because we have a heavy rotation on the Line and they aren't used to each other yet) we will win at least 1 playoff game.

Would 4500+ yds be the Bills all-time leader?

If Allen truly finishes with those type of numbers it will silence a lot of critics, including myself.

But I'm still skeptical in terms of the regression to the norm which we have seen the last few weeks. And Daboll has never led an NFL offense that finished in the top 10 which means if that happens again this year Allen certainly won't have finished with these projected stats.

But today Allen broke away from the norm - over 300 yards passing and completing 70% of his throws.

I mentioned this earlier but it was one of the more hollow 300 yard games I've ever seen.

Regardless a step in the right direction and his 4th such game this year which you can't take away from Allen despite the other shortcomings and bad tendencies that have rose to the forefront again in recent weeks.

When I think of hollow 300 yard games I'm thinking of games where teams get down big time and the QB throws for 300 yards in a losing effort against prevent defenses.  DeShawn Watson had just such a game today.  Now that was a hollow 300 yard game.

But Allen's 300 yard game led to 9 straight drives deep into NYJ territory.  The Bills did not have to punt and had 8 FG attempts. Sure they didn't get a TD but had one called back on a ticky tacky call and the other didn't materialize when Kroft fell down.  But today was far from a hollow 300 yard game.  In fact without a viable running game Allen's 300 yard game was the substitute.

One of the more hollow 300-yard games you've ever seen? Our offense was moving all day

The dude had over 30 completions

I've seen hollow 300 yard games where quarterbacks have had 200 yards in the 4th quarter. This was nowhere near a hollow 300 yard game just because drives stalled

we're a illlegal formation penalty and Kroft tripping over the 20 yard line away from 370 yards and two touchdowns

I mean, sure.  If you have literally never seen a QB rack up yards in garbage time, then you would think today was "hollow" yards lol

Wow, not living up to your name there.  Missing Brown and multiple TEs, manages zero punts, 368 combined yards from Allen without garbage time, 100+ passer rating, 6 yards per play while working around 11 penalties, is one of the most hollow games you've ever seen.

You could have at least said "just the Jets".

If he doesn't do well against the Jets, he gets crapped on because duh.  If he does well against the Jets, it's "hollow".  Sometimes there's no winning.

Teams now will exclusively use the deep cover 2 zone to slow down Josh. Today JA did a great job using Beasley and taking what the D is giving you. Beasley will easily get 1000 if he stays healthy.

The cover 2 zone isn’t that big a deal with both Brown and Diggs available. It’s the lack of Brown going deep that is hurting the longer routes,  not just coverage. Team can’t double Diggs constantly when they have Brown and Diggs running deep. The safeties are making the easy choice now.

When you have enough posts you should change your title to "hollow man".

Maybe you are obsessed with it because Hollowween is coming up.

Well yes, those numbers would be ridiculous. Guaranteed MVP numbers in a normal year.

So that begs the question at what level would you not be critical of Allen?

Or does Allen pretty much have to put up league MVP numbers to be validated in your opinion?

There is no way in the world Allen will sustain a 70% completion percentage all season long.

He's already slipped to 15th in the league at 67.1%.

That number will continue to lower as he regresses to the mean.

This is a must.  1 or was it 2 weeks ago Beasley didn't get the ball until the 2nd half?

Was that on Daboll or Josh, or what the defense dictated?

when the D is in zone, of course.    Beasley is more important if teams go cover 2 zone a lot, which they are now doing.  If they play man, the diggs / davis crossers and josh running become more important... all depends on what the D is doing.

My don't the Allen detractors drag the goal posts around.  It wasn't to long ago that your lot were saying Allen would never be able to sustain a 60% completion percentage!  Now he sucks because he might not be able to maintain a 70% average.

I don't know all the posters on this board well enough to know if you are an Allen hater/doubter/pessimist/ whatever, but if you're going to start being a Debbie-downer at least get your numbers right. He's 11th in % with #10 ahead of him being Dak who we all know is done for the year.

image.thumb.png.89dfe056382eeedf80ab7919d7135467.png

Also - you say 67% as though that's some terrible number... Only 5 QBs had 70% or higher - and Fitmagic is one of them... oh and HE is not longer starting (completely different circumstance and I still think he's underrated - a discussion for another time/thread)

You say he will regress to the mean.... are you referring to his career values? Because if you are, you clearly aren't watching the games. Yes he had two bad games.... everyone does. No one cares unless you don't bounce back. It's still painfully obvious that the O and Allen are well ahead of last year and there is no reason to believe that Allen will not and could not finish the season with at least 65% completion percentage.

Pass Def numbers for our remaining schedule is: 11th/ 32nd/ 19th/23rd/3rd/6th/13th/11th/16th

For reference - KC is 5th and the Rams are 4th
