SlimShady'sSpaceForce
Patriots failed in their contract with Antonio Brown and Bob Kraft will end up paying him $9M more https://www.yahoo.com/sports/patriots-failed-in-their-contract-with-antonio-brown-and-bob-kraft-will-end-up-paying-him-9-m-more-010018469.html The group universally expressed the belief that New England’s payout to Brown will likely happen deep into the 2020 calendar, after an exhaustive arbitration grievance that could ultimately reveal what Brown and his agents knew about a threatened sexual assault civil lawsuit prior to signing with the Patriots. One key takeaway was heavily underscored by the group: The Patriots cut Brown before he triggered any signing bonus void as described in the CBA. And that will end up being the foundational and winning point of a forthcoming grievance from Brown and the NFL Players Association. As one source put it, “[New England] fighting to keep that signing bonus now is either a gross misunderstanding of [the CBA’s] rules on voiding signing bonuses or it’s just out of spite. I can’t believe they don’t understand the signing bonus voids in the CBA. There’s just no way. This is just spitefulness. They’re fighting [Brown] completely out of the anger and embarrassment in ownership.” Report: Robert Kraft decided to cut Antonio Brown, Tom Brady disagrees Patriots quarterback Tom Brady pointedly refused to reveal his personal feelings about the team’s decision to cut Antonio Brown, but behind the scenes he reportedly disagreed with it. Yes it currently counts and will continue to count until the arbitration is over. If Brown wins the money stays on the books. If the Pats win they get credited for the money on the next cap. The most likely time frame will not see final resolution until sometime mid to late 2020. They could also come to an agreement and settle the case. I am actually kind of rooting for him to get the money if it will cost the Patriots salary cap space. If it would (which I think is the case), $9M to brown means that much less salary cap space that they can spend on someone else.

Chris66
Yeah that was a rumor. SF wanted to trade for Brady. Belichick laughed. Pats were hoping to sign Garrapolo to a bridge deal. They offered 2 years 24 million fully guaranteed. When it he wouldnt take the deal. They traded him. They really couldnt franchise him either. You would have had 48 million in cap space on 2 qbs.
