Now that Saffold signed with Ten - What Guards (or Tackle) should we be looking at?

Will be very interesting to see whether we sign an interior player or tackle. If the latter, what do we think about Dawkins at LG? I see this assumption that he can thrive there a lot, presumably based on his measurables. Hasn't he been tried out there before?

Long was solid at G..

I’d prefer Teller and Long battle it out on one side, with a stud on the other, but we’re looking, at least, decent on the OL right now.

Long is a High reward low risk move. Move Teller to the right side and draft a guard second round.

LT Dawkins

LG Rookie

C Morse

RG Teller

RT Ty

Based on Long's contract if cut before he plays we do not loose much on cap. if he earns it great.. But don't expect Long to be a starter.. I think his PFF Is well below 50.

Buffalo has options.  Since thy already have two upgrades on the O-line (three if you count Spencer Long), they would probably be OK if they did nothing more.  Teller may be improved in his second year, and they could start him across from Long, who could play right guard.  The line still should be much better than last season.  As has been mentioned, Buffalo can add a guard in the draft.  They could draft Jonah Williams and move him inside.  They could draft Chris Lindstrom.  They could draft Eric McCoy and play him at guard.  There is literally nothing they could do that would be a disaster, including doing nothing more.

I would still like to see us to add a guard who really excels in run blocking. Morse was a nice pick up, but he isn't exactly a menace in the run game. Our line still lacks toughness, and has since Wood and Richie retired. I'm fine with drafting someone if we can't find the right guy in FA.

I understand that everyone wants to compile an absolute list slotting each player at all five OL positions. The reality is that 2 of the guys we signed don't have an absolute position. Long will not play center with the Morse signing. Dawkins will start somewhere whether it be LT or LG. Ty will start somewhere whether it be LT or RT. The Bills will almost certainly draft multiple lineman.

Based on these signings, there will likely be much to sort out in camp. It will be up to the staff to decide who plays where, etc.

Morse at center is really the only certainty.

I’d think Dawkins at Lt or RT. But.... all this is a good problem to have. At the very least we have some seriously solid depth for the season.

Although I expect Dawkins to play LT or LG, that's a possibility. If we make another move, it may give us a clearer picture as to what the line will look like.

At this point, we've signed 2 players(outside of Morse) who don't have a definitive position as of yet. I think we're in general agreement that alot of this won't be sorted out until training camp. As you said, it's a challenge for the staff but not a problem.

Long and Ty(don't want to look up his last name again) are better than Miller and Mills. That's a good thing.
