Defensive holding can only happen prior to pass and on both instances the ref threw the flag after the ball hit the ground. Makes no sense. Throwing an easy slant pass on 1st down? In the dirt instead. Go anywhere but backwards after getting a hard fought 1st down? Go backwards via false starts to ensure you're out of field goal range. Completing a fair catch on a punt? Nah, fumble in your territory instead. Stop a 3rd and 18 on defense? Easy conversion. Any other low percentage 3rd down conversion for the opposing offense?
