Encouraging thought about the future and Josh Allen

I concede that it's a big If, but if Josh Allen is good, the following statement is likely 100% true:

In the next 15 years, the Bills will never be as bad as they are now.

Only looking up.

Honestly, even if Allen flops out (and I'm not thinking he will) I can't see us this bad again. But never say never I suppose haha

No, we will not be this bad...we will be WORSE! How did we ever mess up and win a game? That ruined everything! And we beat an NFC team, which always hurts, as is well documented. What about our comp picks? Everybody needs to GO! And NOW! Clean house, get a new FO, new coaches, new schemes and new players to fit. Burn it down!

At least, that’s what I’ve read here.....I think.  I could be wrong.

I feel like I can now ignore about 99% of the posts on TBD (up from my normal 90%).  Excellent summary my good man!

I think that is the thought to hang onto during a rebuild. As bad as things get when everything is torn down they likely won't ever be that bad when they're rebuilt.

The Sabres just went through a huge rebuild and they still stink- point is, a rebuild doesnt mean that team will be good.

That's not exactly what I mean if the rebuild ends up not being good then yeah it won't be better than before it though sometimes the build needs time to develop. What I meant is when things are torn down it's unusual for a team to not be better than that after being built back up.

Why? Isn't that an encouraging thought?

"Maybe in order to understand mankind we have to look at that word itself. MANKIND. Basically, it's made up of two separate words mank and ind. What do these words mean? It's a mystery and that's why so is mankind." — Jack Handy

$50m in dead cap hit this year is a killer.   Is there a list of teams' dead cap hits this year?   Would love to know what a "normal" amount is.    Take away even half of that and you add at least 5 quality players at 5m per year.   and the bills get almost all of it back next year.  Trust the Process.  Beane can't sign FAs this year even if he wanted to .

Wow.

Total lack of knowledge on either situation.

Really- did you happen to watch how awful the Sabres were last night? That team has plenty of fire power. My point really is, and I should of clarified, you can rebuild all you want, but if you dont have the right staff its for nothing. On to the Bills- until they start to string some winning seasons together after next years 91 mil in cap and 10 draft picks I will remain somewhat pessimistic.

To say someone has a lack of knowledge is very short sighted without even knowing that person.

The only thing encouraging is we won't have to trade up 2 first round picks to move up to# 4 to draft a wide reciever, heck we'll be able to trade back to 4

This is a positive, for sure.

Who needs a QB NEXT year and will move up and pay handsomely for it? Hear me out.......

Patriots*, Giants, Chargers, Buccaneers.

The Bucs will come back to earth here shortly and may be done with the Crab-stealer.

Who knows about the Giants.

Pats* may think ahead or NEED to think ahead if Brady retires.

Rivers isn't getting any younger.

Be nice if we are one of those teams but I doubt it with Robskie's history with him.

...hopefully it is something meaningful versus Coughlin's 12 year grudge with Henderson.....because of a shouting match?...seriously Tom?...........

Tom Coughlin may not be on the sideline, but he can dictate who will be.

According to a Sirius XM report, Coughlin, named Jaguars executive vice president for the Jaguars this week — would not allow new head coach Doug Marrone to hire Donnie Henderson to his Jaguars staff. Henderson worked under Marrone with the Bills as the defensive backs coach, but also has a history with Coughlin.

When Henderson was the defensive coordinator of the Jets in 2005, they were scrimmaging against Coughlin’s Giants and the two had a heated exchange.

What is encouraging is the 65+ million in cap space and 10 draft picks. we have.  Once you get a QB, the rest is weapons/protection/defense.   Defense is almost there so we can focus on weapons/protection.

I'm all for giving Allen at least 2 more years.  This is a learning year, next will be too.   2020 I expect him to finally be a solid QB.

...with this TBD "welcoming committee", would YOU want to be ?......."Hell's Kitchen" or a leper colony would be MORE welcoming IMO...........

You can remain as pessimistic as you'd like but the fact remains they're both in very similar situations.  The Sabres have a ton of cap space coming the next two years - just like the Bills - and they also have 3 first round picks.  Neither team is complete so they are at the start of the rebuild.

The Sabres went through one but it was brief and the opportunity to do another one so soon is freakishly lucky - especially when they've already acquired a solid foundation of outstanding young talent.

What's happening is not dependent on you believing it or having faith.

The Sabres have a mix of young talent along with some quality Vets to compete now. They looked no different on the ice last night than they did last year. It will be interesting to see what happens the next 8 games- 3 more at home then 5 out west.

I understand where both teams are at- but if we dont have the right staff in place it wont work. I think Daboll will prove to be a bad hire- if so that means Sean has wiffed on 2 OC’s in  row. I also think Housley will also prove to be a bad hire- he seems lost as a HC.

In the end, we are just fans and cant change a thing. The one thing that is for certain, neither team is good right now.

If you think the Sabres are ready to compete then we're done talking.  Sheary and Skinner at most cancel out Kane and O'Reilly in terms of production even if you believe (I do) they are better "fits".  They will be after they spend their free agency money.  You'll know much more what they are in 1-2 years and the existing young players will be ready to excel with NHL experience under their belt.  Worrying about what they are now is futile - same goes with the Bills.

I doubt Allen or any other player would care about what the "TBD welcoming commitee" you speak of thinks. At all. ?
