Man, I don’t even want to know how the OL will look if the opposing teams DL takes their gloves off...

yeah they'll struggle against the better front 7s no doubt.  peterman is capable of quick decisions and this should help.

5-11   Same gripe the last couple of years.  No pass catching talent.  Now we also have OL issues.  Last year we were unsure about Mills and had 3 border line pro bowlers or alternates.  Now we have Dawkins and 4 scrubs.  Groy could be good if he returned to form from the year he replaced Woods due to injury.   Don't know who they'll blame now, I suppose the QB again, but the fact is no matter the QB,  the talent on offense has declined for 3 straight years and is now pretty bad.

Agree 5-11, but they are marginally better at RB and WR.  Still hopeful a couple guys on the Oline will step it up.

Record: 4-12

The Bills will feature one of the worst offenses in the NFL this year (already terrible last year). We'll struggle to score points, and the number of turnovers will spike without Taylor's steady, yet unspectacular hand at QB. With arguably the NFL's worst group of receivers, when we get behind things will really snowball against us and in some games I expect the wheels to really come off. We'll probably score 16-17.5 PPG this year which will make it incredibly hard to win games.

On defense, early returns show this year's crop of free agent talent might not be as good as last years when we scored a couple good safeties and some decent corner backs who have since moved on. We should be alright on the back end, but generating pressure up front looks like it's going to be very difficult, and I'm not sure we'll be much better stopping the run. Tremaine Edmunds looks like a stud to build the defense around, but without a group in front who can control the line of scrimmage and force the opposing QB off their mark, the defense will probably be average to below average when you consider how long they'll be on the field for.

On paper the Bills are one of the worst teams in the NFL. We have replacement level talent across the depth chart, with major issues on the OL, at WR and on the DL. We'll also likely feature one of the least efficient QBs in the league which could lead to some disaster games when we get behind by double digits.

Objective:

4-12.  Uncertainty at QB, a dumpster fire oline, a 30 year old RB, zero WRs no ones fantasy league is drafting; a defense that relied heavily on the turnover last year will need to do so again....because it appears that Hughes might be on the decline and Murphy is coming off a one year suspension.

But we play the Jets and Dolphins 4 times.  So..

Biased Bills Fan (forever the optimist):

10-6.  Peterman is a revelation.  We might have one of the best coaching staffs in the league when it comes to motivation and team building.  The oline stays healthy all year and gels.  The D gets great play from Edmunds and fellow rookie Phillies.  2nd year corner Tre White leads a secondary that's one of the best in the league.

And, we play the Jets and Dolphins 4 times.

Following the announcement that Nathan Peterman will open the season as the Bills' starting quarterback, FPI now considers Buffalo the worst team in the NFL. The Jets moved up to No. 31.

Those two games are the Bills Super Bowl for 2018.

I see Pats' Toady Bill Simmons' The Ringer has the Bills 32nd. I suspect other analytics-driven sites like 538 will reach the same conclusion as ESPN analytics. To me, the worst team in football still projects as a 5-11 team. And that's what I'm going with.

Question: when is the last time an NFL team went into the regular season with a QB staff that has less than one full NFL game under it's collective belt?  (Peterman started 2 games, finishing neither.) I know that was Shanahan's Redskins - RG3 and Cousins in 2012 - had ZERO games started/finished by the QBs they took into opening day (and, of course, that worked out just fine ... for a year).  Has it happened since then? Not that I can recall.

A Jauron-ish 6-10.   That 1st half schedule is just too tough to expect more than a couple wins.  Then, they'll jell in the 2nd half with more home games.

except coach Jauron never had a 6-10 season. All 3 of his full seasons were 7-9. I NEVER want to return to that.  EVER.

one of our infamous 5-2 starts was under Dick Jauron.

Not one full game of experience under center. It is going to be a long year. The Process will be put to the test. Possible wins are Bears, Colts, Fish, and/or Jets. Sorry but 3-13. Pats(2), Packers, Vikings, Texans, Jags, Chargers are all loaded teams. As stated by others when this team gets behind it could get ugly. Teams are already going to throw the book at either Rookie, yeah I know Peterman has been in the league for a year but..... I will be avoiding highlight reels personally.

the only answer i can come up with is they're not trying to win.

either that, or they are the greatest QB evaluators/coaches ever.

I will take the former until they prove the latter.

Last year I forecast 6-10. I was most surprised that the new defensive backfield gelled so quickly. I didn't expect that. Also the Bills overall last year avoided having many season-ending injuries which helped alot. Tre had a great rookie year and our safety tandem became a real strength. I see no reason why the D (assuming a similar lack of season ending injuries) shouldn't be every bit as good. I wouldn't mind sitting Allen till the Bye week. Who knows what we have in Peterman. I've seen alot of pretty good QB's who had horrible rookie seasons before becoming really good pro QB's. (see Aikman, Eli, Payton, Elway just to name a few) If Shady stays healthy I could see 8 wins for this team. Injuries will tell the story for this team...

I have been 5-11/6-10 going back and forth. I am going to say 6-10.

I think Miami are one of the few teams in the league whose talent is similarly weak as ours and we are much better coached. So I am gonna give us 2 wins there, the Titans, home to the Jets and Lions and at Indy. The next most likely wins on the schedule after that to me is week 1 @ Baltimore and home to the Bears (but that pass rush now frightens me).

6-10.

They were hoping to shut it down last year but Peterman was such a joke that they had to return to T’Rod and eked out a playoff spot

ironic

9-7. I believe the Defense will surprise again. With the addition of Shady and better QB play than the last QB, we can be middle of the pack in offense.

The QB and OL are going to be a lot worse than last year.
