Allen already a factor in QB race ?

Recommended Posts

I have been (and still am) willing to let Allen sit all year if need be and shouldn't start UNTIL he is ready.

That said with how he is doing so far he is showing more than the other QBs and I believe that he will win the competition.

Man it feels good to have a franchise QB !!! Go Bills !!!

Been saying this all along, that Allen would beat out these other two guys. It's not much for competition really. Hopefully he shows well once the pads go on and the defense starts really getting after him.

He did good today, hopefully it continues.

I’m moving my chips that way. Still early but we know this regime has zero issue throwing rookie QBs out there if they think they are their best chance to win -  for better or for worse.

And his competition is just not strong.

I'm not hoping for a specific winner in the QB competition.  I am hoping it doesn't drag on for too long.  Originally I predicted McCarron would be the winner, but the trend certainly looks like Allen can pull it out.

You can't win the job after day 3 with no pads.

They wore pads on day three.  The competition is far from over, but the signs are showing improving odds for Allen.

I’m also good with sitting him until ready, but what are you basing this on? Have you been there? Is this based upon tweets/coverage? I’m not doubting, just curious. Maybe I’ve missed some coverage, but I’d LOVE any good news, regardless of how early it may be.

I hope Allen can continue to stack good practices. The other QBs are very limited. Allen is the only one that is going to be able to create explosive plays.

I do think AJ will be a good backup though, I’m happy he is on the team. Hopefully Nate can learn from AJ and develop into a good backup.

I like that Allen had his best day when the pads were on.

Josh Allen is winning this job. How refreshing to see some separation starting to manifest on day three of camp...rather than week three. We all know what that looks like.

It’s interesting that Allen had the most adversity in his college career of the 5 first round QBs and will be the first of them to start.

I just want him to be consistant and get a little better each day.......

Anything more then that and the board will implode if he actually has a bad day

Its actually two shorts and 1 padded practice

It is encouraging that the padded practice is his best day

While talking about qbs.....why is everyone so down on AJM....who sounds like he has been very efficient with the ball.....

A guy that can do his job and not turn the ball over is not a BAD thing.....even if he doesnt make the cannon ooh aww throws

Its.  One.  Practice.

There are likely to be ups-and-downs folks.

At this point Josh should be standing out...there's a huge difference in ability between a guy who went #7 overall v.s. two guys who were 5th round picks.  I'm very happy to hear Josh is showing some separation in these early practices but I think the big thing with Josh is how will he handle reading NFL defenses and the overall speed of processing information as a starting NFL quarterback.  He is behind in that category because of his football experience so far playing for small schools and playing with and against lesser competition.  If he can pick up the mental aspects to a "decent" degree than there's no way the other guys have a shot because Josh has all the natural ability in the world.  Something also tells me Beane and McDermott would not have taken a shot on a kid that they didn't think had it upstairs so part of me is excited to see if he can adjust to the speed of the NFL quickly.

That he played about as good as the other two and when the pads came on he did much better. Its early but he has way more talent and if he keeps improving he should start.

He's starting? When did coach announce that?

Bingo...

He's shining in situations where no one's allowed to even breathe on him.

Let's see how he does vs. grown men looking to do him harm.

LOL... 3 days and its over. Camp is over, PS games cancelled and we're getting ready for Baltimore on 9/9

There is a thread each for McCarron and Peterman, so I felt it was only fitting that one was started for the real QB.

It's one practice.  I also heard McCarron has been the most consistent.

He will get killed behind this oline anyway.

Our defensive line is stout but I haven't heard much about our QBs being under pressure. It seems we finally have a good offensive system and MAYBE these Olineman can make it work.

First let me say... I'm still not sold, & I'm not slapping butts just yet...lol. But, from the videos, & what I've been reading from camp, Josh Allen is doing well. That's good... Sal Capaccio gives a good breakdown in case anyone wants more in depth.

I will still disagree with the pick until he proves it otherwise. But so far, after 3 days... not bad...not bad at all.

CAPACCIO: Allen already a factor in QB race | WGR 550 SportsRadio

"Taking all of that in and looking at the big picture, it’s clear Allen is a legitimate option to become the team’s starter week one at the Baltimore Ravens. Of course there is still a long way to go and he hasn’t been perfect by any means, but to anyone watching practice, from fans in the stands to local or national media on the sidelines, there’s no doubting who the most naturally gifted QB is on the field every day.

For Allen to be taking reps with the first team already is somewhat surprising given that he was exclusively with the third string offense throughout OTAs and mostly through minicamp" - Sal

Soon, there will be a little arrow pointing to where all the other Josh Allen thoughts go.

Nothing personal.

This isn't a thought... it's a new article that was just posted. It's a good read... especially for the posters that don't go on Twitter or any other outlets. Sal gives a good breakdown. People interested should get a chance to read it...that's what this forum is for...

I didn’t think that was being a jerk at all. I wasn’t a D*^& about it. There might be a dozen (or two) Allen threads a day if everyone wants to post every link to every article. If anyone is a jerk here, I’m not feeeling bad about my position. But I’m not a mod, and I wish nothing but good stuff on everyone.

Yes there are multiple allen post but it’s just this is my thought. This is my prediction. He was posting a link with his thoughts. I know you said nothing personal but the OP posted a new article ...now some of the others should have posted their thoughts and predictions in the current allen threads.

Sal needs to get a clue.  There is nothing surprising about Allen getting first team reps.  He got first team reps in mini camp.  It's only continuing because he is earning them.  I swear these guys cannot get over the crap coaches in the past that would just give people jobs without earning it.

Sal C. is an idiot, full stop.

And of course Allen is going to get first team reps!  He's going to be the week 1 starter.

I'm sure McD and crew have a road map planned for the QB rotations and how they want to get it done, but it should be no surprise that Allen is the priority in training camp

Well, for Sal C., maybe that is a surprise.

For it to be a race there has to be more than one competitor. Anyone have any news on the other two competitors in this race?

I think that AJM is quietly having a solid camp

He is getting work with the ones and isnt falling on his face....even if he is dinking and dunking.

There is also some commentary that he is the best so far at making throws against pressure.......so there is that.

In the end...I think the qbs on this team will be Josh Allen and AJM
