YoloinOhio
The Browns wanted Nick Foles, offering the 35th overall pick to the Eagles for the Super Bowl LII MVP, Mike Silver of NFL Media reports. The Eagles presented the deal to Foles, who said he would prefer to remain in Philadelphia. The spurned Browns turned to Plan B, sending a third-round pick to the Bills for Tyrod Taylor. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/05/22/report-eagles-turned-down-trade-with-browns-who-offered-35th-pick-for-nick-foles/ So Eagles let Foles decide? Brand J
Reminds me of the time the Bills tried to sign Titans backup QB Billy Volek and he declined the chance to start in Buffalo to remain a backup with the Thumbtacks. 1

H2o
He must have REALLY wanted to be a starter again. Honestly though, can you blame him? It's not like the Browns were going to build around him like their Franchise QB. They were still going to take a guy at the top of the board. Next year he will be able to choose his destination and have multiple suitors. 3
Doc
So the Eagles would have traded Foles for just an early-2nd rounder? Ugh!
BUFFALOKIE
Cool of th Eagles to offer Foles a choice. That Superbowl win earned him a lot of love and respect in that town, and surely in that front office. Good on them. 4 minutes ago, Doc said: So the Eagles would have traded Foles for just an early-2nd rounder? Ugh! Only if that's what Nick chose. Kelly the Dog
He also knew the Browns would be taking a QB #1 overall and the fans would be clamoring for his head early if he didn't start off well.

It likely didn’t come with a raise either. He could have played a few games in Cleveland for $9M or potentially a few games in Philly for $9M. I get why Foles elected to stay put. Yep. The Browns were going to take a QB with their 1st pick irrespective of Foles.

Not surprising - the Eagles made it clear the deal needed to work for both parties. My guess is they asked Foles before countering because I don’t believe that pick was enough for the Eagles. When Foles said No thanks - both teams moved on.
Punching Bag
It is not like the Browns will not have more early picks next year. I think that IF the Browns were able to get Foles they may have reevaluated whether they wished to use #1 pick on QB and may have traded down for more picks taking a QB with pick #4. Not necessaryily - if Foles had said yes - Cleveland would have been acceptable - maybe Philly still counters and asks for more, but since Foles said nope - it was done. Aussie Joe
Lets remember that the Browns picked up that roster bonus as well as Pick 65 which saved the Bills some cash in a tight year cap wise... Pick 65 was an a great outcome for the Bills on top of the Cap savings.. I assume that there must have been other offers that the Browns had to trump... probably Arizona offered up their third Round pick... I also recall that there were rumours that the Bills offered the Eagles one of the 2nd Rounders for Foles but the Eagles said no...

I think a 2nd rounder is probably fair value for Foles, but I can still understand why the Eagles were wanting to try to do the right thing by him and he still has value for them in 2018... I wonder though if someone had of offered them a first would they have been still running it past Foles for his approval...

Used it to trade up from 22 to 16 for Edmunds. Also got a 5th in return from the Ravens in the trade, which was used to take Siran Neal at 154.
