Thanks Jurrah.

Jerry Jones forced this on Pegula and Pegs just rolled over for belly scratches.

Now the average fan will be forced out by the prices.

A buddy of mine, RIP Zach, was a 30 year season ticket holder and would have been one of the many who won't be able to afford them for the new place.

I’m not sure I agree. The price of tickets is more related to the price people are willing to pay for them than it is to the price of the stadium itself. I mean what’s to keep the Bills from raising prices now, in the ‘old’ stadium? It’s not like there’s another place that a WNY fan can go see an NFL game. And what good does it do the team to play in an empty new stadium?

They are in a hard spot. Either build a new stadium and price some people out or the team moves.

They could have NOT decreased number of seats and designed it adding less expensive seats reserved for previous season ticket owners but they are trying to force scarcity by reducing number of ticket.  I wish Jerry would have tried that model on his stadium first.

Since the Bills are not paying for stadium but just leasing it the Erie County Stadium Corporation should have not accepted that design and should have mandated larger stadium.  Since NFL no longer blacks out seats there is no issue it "extra" seats are not sold other than cost of extra sections.

I might argue with that. The first row in the sidelines may not be as low as the current stadium. I’m sure they would rather have some more space away from fans right on top of the players while on sideline. As well as it is likely better for the fans to be up 5’ compared to what it currently is now. The first few rows have a hard time seeing the action over the players on the sidelines as it is. End zones are likely free game and will be just as low. And from what I have seen they will offer field level seating in at least one end zone. There’s quite a few stadiums that have them.

That's great. You're not arguing with anything. Just speculating.

With very exceptions the days of super large stadiums have pretty much gone extinct. The movement is towards a better experience with a smaller capacity. And that’s all because of the television contracts you cite. This isn’t difficult to understand.

Right. By doing this, they also allow themselves to keep ticket prices high as it’s more limited than it’s always been

That is a provident right being a Bills fan whether it is rational or not; carrying a torch is optional but still not allowed to be used on players' properties as done in past.

With that logic why not limit seating to 30,000? It’s a balancing act just like it is for other businesses that rely on seating….like restaurants, movie theaters, etc

Like you said. Balancing act. Can’t just have 10,000 fans at the game. But like you said, the days of 100k stadiums are over. Tv is better. Experiences at the stadium is what will bring people going forward.

The difference is other businesses do not have a LIMITED monopoly and it is time for congress to reinvestigate whether it still makes sense.

You want Congress to investigate the NFL? For what exactly? The NFL, like other sports leagues, operates somewhat differently from other business models, for sure, but they still exist in a basic capitalist environment. I suggest you think of the NFL as a chain of franchised restaurants; not as 32 separate, competing restaurants. And while it might seem that they have a monopoly in a specific location, that's also not true. For example, just a few years ago, the LA market had no teams, and now the 'Corporate Office' decided that they would have two. As we've seen, Teams not unlike franchise restaurants, are opening and closing locations quite regularly based on the perceived market.

First, you want Congress to do something? Congress???

Second, no one is stopping others from launching a rival league to the NFL. Anyone with a spare trillion can do it.

The funny thing is there IS A RIVAL LEAGUE that we should be supporting. And it's really fun. But I think the majority of NFL fans aren't true FOOTBALL fans. They don't watch anything but the NFL and maybe just their own college team.

They're fans of the brand.

So if you don’t want to watch the WFL/USFL/XFL etc…, you aren’t a “true” football fan?  Okay football super fan. How is the view from your pedestal?

it's not a rival league. It's made of players who can't play in the NFL.

It's great! I get to watch more football than you lowly peasants.

Well, how do you think a league can work itself up to become a rival? It's not going to get there immediately.

But, alas, that's the world that casual "football fans" live in ....

The other poster complained about the NFL having a monopoly and wants the government to step in, but then doesn't even support the up-and-coming league.

Just stupid.

Just stupid.

The original USFL was a rival league immediately because they signed star players and great college players. They had Kelly, Young, Herschel Walker....

Obviously that was a different time and economic environment for the leagues.

Can't play or not given a true opportunity due to draft status or lack there of?  USFL in the early 80's and we were told they couldn't play in the NFL either.

The latest step in the process, STH's will now have a second account executive to deal with for the new stadium, different than their current account rep.  Just got this email...

Prices are finally incoming if they have the sales team mobilized.

Same here. Let's hope they keep things somewhat reasonable.

This article helps clear up one question on PSLs, how they will be paid...

What Bills season ticket holders need to know about PSLs (spectrumlocalnews.com)

Basically...

1) Pay in full immediately

2) Pay over the next two years

3) Pay over 10 years with a loan from M&T

Thanks to @Hammered a Lot for the link to the article.

That's just your PSL fee. Paying for your season tickets is a different payment. You know that saying about **** runs downhill. Guess who is at the bottom of the hill. Enjoy these next few seasons at the current stadium before being financially robbed.

I’m really curious to see if small market western NY, and the new high prices, will yield sellouts for all the games in the new stadium.

Thanks Jack. I’ll have to check my email as well. Told everyone a while ago this would be happening. About 6-9 months late. But it’s happening as I previously stated.

The Bills better have a really good team on the field if they want sellouts at those prices. I can tell you that PSL's were a disaster for the Giants and Jets. It didn't help that both teams have mostly sucked for the past 10 years or so. So many season ticket holders dropped their seasons and just purchase individual game tickets to avoid the PSL fee. The Bills should expect many of their fans to do the same thing.
