Big Turk
The way Davis catches the ball is just so...awesome. I don't really know how else to even say it or describe it. I'm not sure I have ever been enamored with the way a WR catches the ball like I have with the way Davis does it...it even LOOKS amazing. It's like he vacuums the ball into his hands...perfect hand catches almost every time. Coaches could literally take clips of him catching the ball and use it in training sessions on how to catch the football properly. And it isn't just the Rams game, its been time after time, game after game...his hands are just unreal in terms of catching the ball away from his body with them. I don't know if others appreciate this nuance of his game, but to me, this is a masterclass of catching the ball properly at the highest possible level. I'm hard pressed to even think of another player who I have ever seen do it with such consistency as he does. skibum
I have definitely noticed the same thing. It really stood out in the KC game, and I have also seen Diggs do the same thing once in a while. I wonder if Gabe learned it from Diggs and just rolled with it. Whatever the case may be, the guy has some of the surest hands I've ever seen.

716er
He’s gone from a toe tapping boundary receiver to a guy who can make every play asked of him. Dominant. He is going to get paid big time. 2 1

zow2
Yes, hands catches. It's great to see. The excellent WRs don't usually need the ball to come in to their body to catch it. Gabe is exceptionally good at this.

Warcodered
Only thing that worries me is sometimes he catches it in the endzone and tosses it so quick afterwards I worry they'll think it's incomplete. So far so good though. 1 1

RocCityRoller
Gabe reminds me of Eric Moulds and the way he attacked and plucked the ball out of the air. Moulds was a special WR with terrible teams and QBs. He would be a terror on this offense. Gabe Davis is doing a good job of being that next guy. One of my favorite Bills.

As a UCF alum, who watched every game of his in College, I can tell you that he has always been a "hands catcher" with a huge catch radius that could run all the routes. The Bills have finally put him into the WR2 position, where he has a chance to showcase all of his skills, and he is making the most of it! I was so excited when the Bills drafted him, and knew he had the potential to be a great WR in this league. I'm just so proud he's living up to that potential. Go Gabe!!!!! 4

Good stuff, RocCity, Gabe also reminds me a lot of Moulds, with incredibly strong hands -- and even in his deceptively fast, flat-footed running style. But Moulds was angrier with the ball in his hands. It was like he would deliberately search out safeties to destroy after a catch! 1

The other thing that really is interesting to me is that he doesn't have prototypical "deep" speed with a 4.54 40 yard time, but he gets open deep a LOT and has one of the highest YPC in the NFL over the past 2 years(minimum 25 catches), averaging 16.7 YPC, which is 7th best in the league among WR's...one of those players that play faster than their 40 time and really understands how to set up DB's to be able to get open deep. Jefferson and Thielen, Chase and Higgins, Kupp and Robinson(although didn't show it last night), Hill and Waddle and a few others I am forgetting may disagree with that, but I think Davis is going to be a breakout star this year. Repulsif
I noticed that too When I see his number around the ball, I never expect a drop or anything His hands are some kind of magneto-glue things of beauty
The Wiz
You saw it against the pats in the playoffs also. The ball was low and he just vise gripped it like nothing. Edited September 9, 2022 by The Wiz
Cray51
He is great on short cuts as well because he doesn’t require extreme separation. His hands attack the ball, so he can use his reach to pluck the ball. Difference between him and someone like Mackenzie.
Airseven
I agree on this. His hands and concentration are top notch. Even in years past when he was getting limited snaps, some of his sideline toe-tapper catches were elite. He's definitely a HANDSY wideout. Simon
I like watching DB's trying to rip it out of there. He barely even notices they're there and they end up looking like little kids hanging off Daddy.
