Field Yates - "I truly believe there's no scarier player to defend in 2022 than JA."

Imagine Bills fans getting angry because someone says Aaron Rodgers is better than Josh Allen?

The good thing is Josh is actually in that conversation. People can make legitimate arguments why Josh is better.

But I’m sorry, he’s not better than Aaron Rodgers, yet.

Christ, people get upset when I say Lamar isn’t an elite QB. (he isn’t)

Aaron has the experience and the 💍

(odd that that’s all people judge a QB by)
He’s accurate and his INT’s are low.
maybe because Aaron does not throw onto double coverage a lot?  Plays it safe?

On the other side of the spectrum you had the shiny new toy Lamar who dazzled the NFL with his running and won MVP.

Then there is Josh Allen 🦄

Yeah, he was a bit rough around the edges

His best WR’s were Zay Jones, J Brown and McKenzie.

It took 2 seasons to eliminate “Sugar High Josh” and his 3rd to get more than 3 actually good receivers.

Josh ain’t afraid of no ghosts 👻
He will throw into coverage with confidence.

Josh can run like a runaway freight train. You don’t want to get in his way and also hope he doesn’t try to jump over you.

If there is a loose ball Josh will emulate a rugby player and dive into the scrum.

GB is akin to NE in a way

They dominated a division with weaker teams.
Bears QB & Coaches

Vikings QB & Coaches

Detroit Coaches cuz we just saw the QB won a SB.

Goff on the other hand went from a legit contender to the hell that Detroit is.

It’s a passing league

but you will always need to have a sustainable running game to win multiple 🏆

I’m a troll for putting Allen behind Rodgers and Mahomes?

You're not a troll but you do hold a minority opinion. And I'm talking among all NFL fans, critics and analyst, not just Bills fans.

Allen is the odds on favorite to win MVP.

Allen and the Bills are the favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Allen is coming off back to back season as the top fantasy football scorer.

Allen is coming off a near perfect post season.

Allen is has the highest career postseason passer rating.

Allen holds every single physical and mental attribute one would wish for an NFL QB to have. No other QB in the NFL holds all these attributes. Guys like Mahomes, Herbert and Rodgers are probably the closets but each is probably missing one or two attributes.

If Allen's individual postseason success last year is a sign of things to come then he is also only continuing to get better. Allen's regular season last year was a noticeable dip from his production in 2020. But his 2021 postseason was so off the charts it basically made the entirety of the 2020 and 2021 seasons (regular and postseason) essentially the same.

I think this Stat still stands true —

No QB that lead the NFL in passing yards has won a SB that season

(3rd place has won, but Stats)

I think that you might find those 2 to be more reliable (maybe). In terms of “scary” though Allen is capable of doing things that neither of them are. They aren’t capable of doing anything that he isn’t. They just have less games like Atlanta or Jacksonville. Allen, when he’s clicking, is the scariest.

Even in that Atlanta game Allen totally dominated on the ground. When you complete less than 50% of your passes for under 5 yards per attempt and throw 3 INTs but still come out of the game with a 60QBR it shows how dominant he was in other areas.

The league MVP is also on like 20+ year drought of winning  Super Bowl as well. I'm hoping Allen breaks that drought because I really want him to win MVP.

There is no chance Josh Allen is scarier than Aaron Rodgers.

I have no problem putting him 2nd though. Rodgers is on a different planet.

At least Super Allen wins playoff games. Rodgers folds Like a house of cards.  I’m ok with Mahomes over Allen as he has been in 2 SB’s and our guy hasn’t been in 1.  Once Allen overcomes that incredible hurdle, I’ll rerank Allen as #1.  My guess as it’s so da*n hard to win a SB he wins 3 before he retires and is in the playoffs every year.  As long as we have Beane, McD, and Allen, they’ll field a championship team each year and then sometimes it’s just luck.

It wasn’t Allen making a mistake in 13 seconds.  That’s what p**see me off when analysts somehow infer its Allen’s fault they didn’t go to the SB.  It was the team and the ST coach along with our CB.  Thankfully that coach and player are gone and I still can’t believe we actually upgraded again this off season.

At best you can say Rodgers is a touch better passer and craftier.  That said, Allen will destroy you with his arm, run away from you in the open field and embarrass you with his physicality, I’d be much more fearful of Allen overall.

To this point I think it was Allen who knocked out Tyrann Mathieu when they collided last year in the postseason right? Has there ever been another instance of a QB taking a defensive player out of the game?

Scariest, best, all subjective. Honestly just being discussed as a top 3-5 QB is an accomplishment. He’s entered that group.

The subject of this thread is "scariest". As others have stated, Allen meets that criteria more than Rodgers . I think Allen is marginally scarier than Mahomes though the latter is marginally more consistent as a QB

2010 was a very long time ago.  Since then, Nick Foles has won a SB.  Brady won 4.

2 years ago Packers had the top WR, a top 10 running game, #1 scoring Offense and top 10 D.   Then Rodgers choked away the NFCC game vs Tampa.

You know who's not afraid of Rodgers?  the 49ers, the Bucs.....

I remember that team. You said they were extreme over achievers the previous season and weren’t that good.

Rodgers has created 3 different WR1 in his career, I’m sure he’ll create another one next year. Draft Allen Lazard in fantasy.

Every team has a #1 WR. The QB doesn't create them though unless you think Rodger's bun might be harboring them.

Setting aside the who is better than whom discussion, the title of this thread gave me a thought. Let’s add a name to the stadium, Yeates Field at Highmark Stadium. Named after Cardinal O’Hara great Jeff Yeates, drafted out of Boston College by the Bills in the fourth round of 1973 draft, spent three years with the Bills, eight years with Falcons. Just a thought.

win it?? they didn't even play in it---the MVP choked.  lol.  Name any 2 draft picks in your head and he still throws that TD pass into the dirt instead of running, Josh-like, into the EZ.

you keep dying on this hill and Rodgers only laughs....

Let’s not act like LaFleur didn’t choke…..he clearly made the wrong decision…..but it’s only on Rodgers.  Riiiight.

tristan wirfs was one of the reasons the Bucs offense had so much success. Winfield made huge plays all season.

in a one possession game, no one knows what kind of impact a 1st rd draft pick that actually suited up would have had.

meanwhile….Jordan Love blows.  Great pick.  Any draft pick would’ve helped that team more than Love did.

I have no problem with the premise:

How many QBs can you name that can do all of this in any game:

- rush for TD

- pass for TD

- receive a TD

- leap a defender

- stiff arm a DL into ground

- run over a safety

- rush for 100 yards

- pass for 300 yards

- evade a pass rusher who has him dead to rights

- throw late across the middle on the run

Diggs is not the game changer Hill is.  If you single Diggs, he’ll get a catch.  Single Hill and you worry he takes it to the house.  Diggs is a really good player, Hill is a different level of game breaker.   I would expect Allen to do comparable damage without Diggs, Hill changes the way teams play you.  I think Hill will be sorely missed in KC.  I do believe Pat will be fine, but that’s because he is one of the best in the biz.

I don't mean to seem disparaging but the woman (I'm unfamiliar with her) seems smug as heck.

It's tough not to think Josh is one of the most fearsome players to face in the league. Not only does the dude have a rocket where his right arm is supposed to be, he's as big as a gotdang yeti and he's deceptively fast. Defenders see him take off and think, "Oh, I took a bad angle but shoot, I can catch him... *Josh zips past* oh crap, maybe I can't." On top of this the kid has really learned the game, understands defenses much better, knows where the ball needs to go, has that field general awareness now where he knows what everyone is supposed to be doing... he has a belief that he's a special type of player, he has a work ethic that won't let him quit even after he brings home eleven championships. He's extremely determined and I think with all of that combined, yeah, it makes him more threatning that Rodgers and Mahomes. Rodgers might scramble here and there but his running isn't anything defenses generally worry about. Obviously both he and Mahomes can pick a defense apart and while Josh has really quit with the heroball almost completely, Mahomes still falls back into those old habits like we saw in the second half against the Bengals.

Rodgers has been absolutely phenomenal the last 2 regular seasons. He 100% deserved that award each of the last 2 seasons. Let’s not forget it’s a regular season award and it went to exactly who it should have.

…. And that’s not me taking anything away from our guy. Whom I absolutely love and would pick over ANY qb going into the next decade.
