He's a great young coach, who has created a strong culture here. AND if you get to a lot of playoff games, you'll have a lot of chances. Good coaches and good players are going to win eventually. Andy Reid, the loveable guy who "just couldn't win the big games" has a look at this: Coaching in his 4th Super Bowl, with 1 title already Coaching in his 3rd Super Bowl in a row, something only Schula, Levy and Belichick have done Moving from #5 to #4 in all-time HC wins in the next 1.5 seasons Moving from #4 to #3 in all-time HC wins if he coaches another 6-7 years (he's only 63 now) Possibly even move to #2 all-time behind only Belichick or Schula, depending on how long Bill coaches If Bill retires in a year or two, there is a decent chance that Reid ends up with more wins all-time as a HC. What does this have to do with McDermott? People were saying the exact same things some are saying now about McD: he can only take you so far, etc. No. You find a very good coach (and McD is a very good coach IMO) and you keep him. There are so many bad HC in the NFL. Keep building the program, and a guy who takes you to the playoffs year after year is eventually going to bust through. Unless it's Aaron Rodgers (sorry I couldn't resist) 1

That’s the difference Didn't hurt, but it's not nearly that simple. Throwing the ball in OT, bouncing it off your WR, and into the hands of a safety coming over to help out a step or 2 late, for an INT helps a lot too. Mahomes had a terrible 2nd half, the Bengals coaching did a great job at halftime, and turnovers went Cincy's way. That all contributed as much as getting pressure on Mahomes. Much of the pressure that got him only got there ridiculously late, b/c the DBs were covering so well. If you want to get pressure on a QB, invest in your defensive backfield, not the DL.

For a serious response: It's worth noting that prior to advancing to the Superbowl and winning the big game, Reid fired his long time DC Bob Sutton and hired Steve Spagnuolo, who washed out in his 3 year stint as HC, but who seems to be a helluva DC when given the right tools. So maybe it's not all a Reid learning process Maybe part of the learning process was being ruthless when a guy just isn't getting it done and move on. Just making the point that it's can't all be laid to improvement in Reid's coaching chops. 14 hours ago, jlgarsh said: The Bills would have stomped Cinci. Ugh I don't think that follows. I don’t think tyreek hill and Travis Kelce are guys you can just replace when they start to slow down also their cap situation gets trickier moving forward.
