MiltonWaddams
Big fan of all these artists…maybe save Mary, but I have a lot of respect for her artistry. I understand that they are not everyone’s cup of tea but they are the truly massive stars and I know a sizeable group of people that were ecstatic when they were announced. I haven’t been more excited for a halftime show since the Chili Peppers. 2 2 1

I grew up mainly on classic rock, hip-hop and the easy listening music my parents threw on the radio. But, I also love jazz, old country, and some new country, and even have been known to put on some classical and showtunes. Having young daughters now, I hear a lot of pop music that is currently on the radio. There’s value to every kind of music. 2 3

I enjoyed all types of music (but I hated Depeche Mode and tears for fears). Mary J, dre and snoop were the beats in the bars/clubs when I was 19+. Some of the best memories of my life were made with their songs in the background. Their music will always be a part of me, along with BIG, pac, Nas, the lost boys, the Lox, Wu-Tang, EPMD, Cypress Hill, Beasties, lauryn hill, etc. or what I still listen to on a daily basis and even during Bills games (beats listening to almost all of the analysts today). YOU may consider that a lousy youth musically speaking but to many of us in our 40’s, those are the theme songs of the most enjoyable and least stressful chapter of our lives, but in reality, you’re just a close minded simp that thinks the world revolves around your life. T master
Mary J okay - Snoop he's cool but the rest not flattered at all !! Musical Entertainment just ain't what it use to be !! Give me some Stevie Wonder - Pharrel Williams - or some Bruno with Mary J & Snoop then you got something ! The Black Eyed Peas were the absolute worst half time show ever but this line up may give them a run for their money . I always wondered why they never got AC/DC to do a halftime show ??? For Those About to Rock would be a awesome halftime song but those guys all need wheel chairs now LOL !!!

I go through phases. Right now, I actually have zero hip-hop in rotation and have been like that for a few months. Kind of reflects my moods. Forgot to mention Naughty by Nature. An all time pairing that is criminally underrated imo. SO many of their songs bring back the fondest of memories. In Summary
The last of the great rockers are all in their 70s. Have a conversation with many in their 20's about these groups and you'll usually get blank stares or maybe a comment about how their dad had their cd. Reality. The halftime show is now firmly more a "show" than it is a mini concert. Dancers, props, fake guitar playing, pre-recorded tracks, etc. It's visual. It's diverse across genre. It's safe. It's the NFL. Presumably it's profitable. 1

Rocky Landing
I'm really looking forward to this HT show. Even just historically speaking, it's a pretty cool lineup. Dr Dre is rap royalty. However you feel about his music, his influence is undeniable. His resume as a producer is massive. M.J. Blige is amazing live, and might be the most talented one up there. Kendrick Lamar almost single-handedly returned rap to popular relevance with the release of We Gon Be Alright. Eminem (originally produced by Dr. Dre, btw) was one of the biggest drivers in expanding rap into mainstream appeal. Snoop Dogg deserves some credit for that, as well. I've worked on over 30 Snoop Dogg videos in my career, and all but three of them were other artist's videos "featuring Snoop Dogg." No one who has met him doesn't like him. It's hard to overstate how much of a unifying influence he has been in the music industry, and in popular culture. I've turned down a blunt from him three times! (Don't judge, I was working, and had to keep my head clear...) If I have any misgivings on this lineup, it's that it's so one-dimensional. I've always thought the shows that had a lot of crossover genres were the better ones. Madonna in 2012 had a ton. And I still hold out hope for the Super Bowl Halftime Show that would, in my opinion, be the greatest of all time: Weird Al Yankovic with Special Guests. There used to be an annual petition for him. 2

The Avenger
Although I'm a metal guy, I do enjoy the old school rap - I listen to LL Cool J's Rock the Bells on Sirius XM all the time. Very good artists for halftime but when they announced it I was trying to figure out what songs they could do - most of the lyrics and themes in Dre/Snoop's big songs would not work at all - can you think of anything LESS family friendly then them singing "187 with my D in your mouth"?
