We need Brown and Milano for this game.

Indeed, but we need them healthy enough to be themselves...

Nerdulation, I went  back and looked at the injury reports and actives the first 5 weeks.

13 players were listed as Questionable.  Of those, 7 played and 6 were inactive for the subsequent game.

Brown and Milano going from full to limited feels like a punch in the gut and has me in a bad mood now.

I hear you.  Plus side might be that the coaches having dealt with this last week might have more answers than they did on Tuesday (wishful thinking, but still).

Kroft has two game-winning touchdowns for us in big spots: on the road at Pittsburgh last year and this year against the Rams. His hands seem very reliable, and despite the PI, he really showed fight and tough catch ability on that "interception" against the Rams. He also wants to be a more impact player and has the hunger to contribute.

I grant you that.  I don't think Kroft fought for the ball as fiercely as he could have on the "interception"; on the other hand he may have felt as though he made a clean catch and went to the ground, which was, of course, the correct call.  Doubt he makes that mistake again.  Also think it quite possible Knox doesn't make that tough EZ TD catch Kroft hauled in like a Boss  - Knox missed a similar catch that hit his hands earlier this season and a ball where he had to jump but it hit his hands in the Titans game.

I would love for Kroft to be more of an impact player but as I've said elsewhere, he's getting a lot of snaps, and leaving me wondering "where in the hell is he?"  That may not be a knock on Kroft - the answer may be "Doing His 1/11" "exactly where he should be, doing what he's supposed to be doing".

How does Brown and Milano go from full practice all week to limited and now questionable

I don’t see us even coming close to winning without both on the field.

White is still questionable as well.  We don't need next man up for this game.  We need all hands on deck.  I'm hoping it was just a precautionary semi rest to keep them as healthy as possible.  We need all 3 of these guys if we expect to have a chance.

If I'm guessing - Milano is probably a bit premature.  A strain is a minor, partial muscle tear to my understanding, and if there's pain after a full workout he may be at risk for re-injury if he plays full-out.

Brown probably depends upon the specifics, but he has two more days to "get right" so he may be able to go.

The titans couldn’t stop the run.   We couldn’t  run vs them

The raiders couldn’t stop the run.  We couldn’t run vs them.

I don’t think this is going to change until we get mongo back.  Even then, it’s unlikely to change very much.  We have an OL made up of pass blockers that can’t run block for ****

Couldn’t? Or didn’t try? You have to commit to it from the beginning . It starts with Lee Smith being active and using someone as a FB.

We tried.  Looking at the all-22, frankly the blocking is a mess.  Someone put up a Cover-1 piece about it in a dedicated thread.  I don't think a fullback and Lee Smith help very much when fundamentally the OL is getting whupped.

Daboll said as much in his presser when asked flat out why we couldn't run against the Titans who have been giving up beaucoup yards.  That guys have to hold their blocks.

LOL.  Kim Jones from NFL-network asks Horrible Harry, "are you guys Nasty enough? I mean, the great DLs I've covered have all, Game day at least, they're pretty tough SOBs"

Phillips says "I would say that everyone's got a switch, without question"  "And you have that? You're convinced?"  HH: "Uh huh"

Next up: Muki Hawkins, congratulating HH on his MVP for his community efforts. Phillips really relaxes and lights up talking about his work with Special Needs kids

🤣🤣🤣  Way to convince Ms. Jones you're a Bad Man, Horrible.

WTF does Kim Jones think Harry is gonna say in response to a question like that?  "Nah, we ain't tough, we're all a bunch of Softies"  "No, I actually don't think I flicker the Nast-o-meter enough"  "Yeah, I'm a BadAss MOFO, I go around kicking puppies all week and taking orphans' lunch money"

To the point where our guys are literally knocking each other over in the backfield sometimes, because Thing1 is getting knocked into Thing2.

Adding Thing3 and Thing4 (ie Lee Smith and a fullback) is not necessarily gonna help with that.

Here's a link to where I posted about what Daboll said when asked;

Basically he said Tennessee's DL had good fundamentals and shed blockers and made tackles.  The other side of that is our OL is getting shed off their blocks and letting the tackles be made.

He’s horrendous. I’m in favor of Mongo at RG and Spain at LG once everyone is available.

Ford and Winters to the bench. They’re both just...woof

well, let’s see.. Winters was recently graded out as the best guard in the AFC by an nfl devoted website. 🤔Hmmmm.. who to trust? A professional organization devoted to such matters or thebandit...

Go watch the tape and get back to me.

PS—there’s a whole thread on this.

PPS—why does it ruffle your feathers so when I disagree with the coaching staff?

PPPS—if that’s “professional organization” was PFF, then 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’ll take Mongo back in there for sure. Love his fire. But, I don’t see any way they bench Ford for Spain. I’d be shocked.

I don’t think they will... I just think they should based on the two players respective performances thus far.

not too concerned about this game in a Win/Loss standpoint

I just don't want to get blown out and embarrassed again, and want to see Allen have a good game. That will give me confidence for the rest of the season. The patriots game in 2 weeks is 10x more important. Losing that game is unacceptable.

Problem with Spain is that he has struggled with pass protection, which is why he was benched. Watch the Miami game again and you’ll see he almost got Josh killed several times. So, what’s the lesser of two evils: Ford’s run blocking or Spain’s pass blocking? Factoring in the importance of Josh’s health, I think it’s the former.

Mongo can’t return soon enough.

Yeah, I hear you. I’m hopeful that Ford can step up his game. He really has had moments, but they’ve been too few and far between for my liking.

Not sure what happened to Spain—maybe getting paid resulted in him slacking a bit, but he was solid last year.

Anyway, the guards are a problem in the run game right now.

...so presumably if we're getting some injured folks back and IF Frazier can get this D refocused, can we bounce back from the stinker with a formidable showing at home or resign ourselves to two L's in a row?.....

The truth is that, if we have those key players in Milano and Tre back,  if they can’t show a good amount of improvement over last week, we should definitely evaluate Frazier’s employment as a defensive coordinator. If that wasn’t a wake up call, there just won’t be one. McDermott will, or at least should, put his stamp on the D and make changes since Tuesday to mitigate some of the flaws. I believe not having a 2nd OLB that belongs in a starting role has been more than a problem. Klein is not a solution in the least. That needs to be addressed.
