Degenerate gambler thread

I’ve been playing parlays for quite a few years now and want to know some others who do.

Ive taught my son [24] the ins and outs and we have fun playing together.

Our rules:

1. Never more than 100$ a week

2. Never chase

3. We must both agree on the picks no matter what.

4. Always cash out winnings!!! Never let them

sit or you will spend it.

One of our friends works in Vegas and we have an account set up at ceasers.  This is week 3 and vegas gets smart with lines.
Don’t like anything this week. Too many either or games and colts/jets line is ridiculous.

Probaly tease the colts to -6 with the packers to plus 9..

Love to hear some great stories. My best was

Giants moneyline against Pats in 07. Only time I bet against belichek. He is a gamblers nightmare

I've been going to Sportsbook at the Seneca Creek Casino downtown and betting on 4 team parlays this season. $10 each time, 3-1 both weeks so far. This week:

Minnesota +3 vs Tennessee

Washington +7.5 at Cleveland (I almost bet the moneyline on this one on a bigger separate bet)

Carolina +6.5 at LA Chargers (Panthers cost me my parlay last week, hopefully I don't regret it again)

KC +3.5 at Baltimore

I sprinkle in a little bit of everything each week. I start with a bankroll and bet a percentage each week. I actually have my bankroll divided up into four pots. "Super picks", Parlay's (3TM) , Teasers(6TM 6Pts) and All 256. My goal is to see which one works best for me.

So far on the season I am 18-14-1 picking all the games. 6-6 on my Super Picks. 0-2 on the teasers and parlays.

Last season was my first real season betting on games. I had massive beginners luck starting the season 14-2-1 (87%). I ended up finishing 48-32-3 (60%).

I agree this week looks quite a bit tougher picking that the first two weeks. But then again I only managed 6-6 on my super picks the first two weeks. Cowherd is 4-6 I think in his Blazing 5. Just pick the upset of Cowherd.

My parlay this week is Patriots -6.5, Colts -11.5 and Cowboys +5

Nice start.

Do you know how you did last year?

I usually favor the dogs but for some reason I didn't have a feeling on that one. Went Jags just because they were at +100 odds and Dolphins were at -120.

Dolphins definitely look like a much more capable team now when you look at all three of the games they played. Their defense against the Pats was actually not bad when you see that Newton almost put up 400 on Seattle through the air.

I bet the packers several times this week thinking adams would play.  I’m scurred now.  I teased the colts to 5.5.

rule 3 sucks- bet what you like. 🤣  I go over all of my bets with my buddy.  One of his picks of the weeks last ween was Detroit +7 @ GB.  GB -7 was my pick of the week.  Glad I didn’t listen to him.

Ahhhh, that 07 was a great day.  Made a killing on that giants money line too

Today, I like:

niners over 41.5

Falcons. -2.5 -115

cowboys under 56.5

i have several 8 team teasers, many include:

the 3 above games

skins

texans

colts

packers

packers under

bucs

cards

Pats

chargers

cowboys
chiefs under

Adams would make the Packers a lock to win IMO. But I still like GB here. I have them as one of my super picks. But not in my parlay. Saints rely on that crowd noise more than most teams IMO and that won't be there. Or will it now that they removed the dB limit? Not sure how that will work? But still Saints are likely without Thomas still right? And GB has a pretty good ground game.

If I can get an elite QB on a good team getting a FG or more in a game that looks like a toss up I usually sway that way. Took KC and the points for that reason too.

I’ve been betting for years mostly nfl and the horses. Table games blackjack and poker. Luv 3card and Caribbean . Took a beating at saratoga this year on the ponies .
its my only vice. Made plenty of money I hate to say it against the bills but a ***** coach always loses

this year its gase, Quinn and Patricia . Don’t like Lynn either.
mcdermott is a great coach and made plenty of cash with them the past 2 years. Especially the Pitt game.

this year we are parlaying the packers whenever we can. Rodgers is pissed and on a

mission

I like doing a 2-team teaser with a 1PM and 4PM team.

Then, if you hit the 1PM leg of it, you bet the same amount AGAINST the 4PM leg.

That way, you either double dip (if you hit in the 6 points "in-between"), or you break even.

You could even "hit a post" and push one and win the other.

It is a bit of a "hedge" but you don't have to sweat anything, and you have a chance to win. Just need to win that first game (with the tease points).

Depending on the line of the 2nd game, could consider the money line instead.

I put $25 on Pitt(-4) to cover....thought about doing parlay with them, Atlanta(-2.5), and Carolina(+6.5) but didn’t pull the trigger..... I really do like Atlanta today. Actually like their chances better than Pitt.

Pitt won’t even win... Texans cannot go to 0-3.

My best bet was taking money line Bills +950 against Vikings (2018).

Go Bills!!

I usually only bet on the Bills if they are playing Jets or Dolphins.  If that's not the case I'll sometimes put money on Bills touchdown scorers.  Missed today with Singletary, Gabe Davis and Yeldon.

Other than the horses, I'm not much of a better. But I virtually NEVER bet on a Bills game (for or against). Too hard for me to separate head from heart.

BUF -122

NE -6 and -5

Live bet o47 in the Bears games when they went down 16-3 (new principle play whenever ATL has a 2 score lead)

CHI +4

GB +3.5

This is my first undefeated week in a long time, as I got my ass kicked last year. I'm 19-9 on the year, and now that I know this thread exists it'll be even more fun, at least until I get smoked by the House. Really like BAL on MNF but the hook sucks so if that doesn't get bet down I'll stay off. Also like u54 but I haven't bet that yet, but probably will.

Absolutely a pitfall, but I've won some good bets with the Bills this year because they were undervalued by other bettors.

I have sworn off parlays and have discovered the world of player props.  Take the Jets game for example. The O/U for Diggs receptions was a stupid low 3.5. Who in their right mind thought Diggs would have fewer than 4 catches against the Jets? Boom, easy money. Same with Josh Allen O/U 1.5 TD passes.

Here's one from yesterday: Singletary receiving yards: 19.5. Again a no-brainer. He ended up with 50. Now that the Bills and Allen are the darlings of the NFL it's going to be tougher to find those gems. I did lose on the Diggs O/U. It was 4.5 and he only got 4 receptions. Damn penalties.

And that is why I don't bet on sports!

That's why the officials have that huddle after a penalty is called...Vegas calling them to say which way the foul favours the bookies.  😁  (Communication capabilities courtesy of the New England Patriots Electronics Department.)

Degenerate gambling Thursday is here!

I managed to snag the Jets at +3 but I'd still bet them at -1.

And a rookie QB is getting his first start in primetime?  Ok then, I'm taking Rypien over 204.5 passing yards and over 0.5 INT.  I have no confidence in the Jets secondary so the yards will be there I think but Greggo should be able to give him some fits and force him into bad mistakes.

I like the Jets getting points (+2 1/2) in the pool I'm in, but then I realize how thoroughly they got beat by what was essentially the 49ers cheerleading squad, and then two pick-sixes against the Colts, and I feel like the players realize if then can tank another game or two, they can finally get rid of a coach that no one likes.

That's not sound gambling practices, I know, but I'm not sure everyone appreciates just how bad the Jets are this year.

That said, the other game I like which also adheres to poor gambling practices is Texans -3 1/2 vs. Vikings, simply based on the idea that there is no way the Texans are going 0-4. They need to kick the crap out of someone, and the Vikings should be that someone.

I’ve got a parlay

Bills -3

ML Ravens

ML Rams

40 to win 101

Betting the road team at -3 is one of the biggest no no’s there is when betting the NFL.  I think we’re a good bet at -3 but Vegas usually has something up their sleeve when a road team is -3.  That’s the upset special more often than not.

that bet is 40 to win 61 plus your money back.

edit:  just noticed that the bills are -3 @EVEN instead of the normal -110.  Which means?  Vegas is begging you to take the Bills

People said the same thing about the Texans last week  I wouldn't be surprised if HOU is the team trying to get rid of a coach that no one likes.

Someone recently did a great segment on teams who gave away top draft picks (Texans/Hopkins, Vikings/Diggs, Jets/Adams) relative to the teams who got those players, and it pretty much tells an obvious story. Texans players have to be a bit miffed.
