The packers really blew it selecting Love

NewEra

Recommended Posts

They used their #1 offseason resource to select Aaron Rodgers replacement.

Zero chance the packers can duplicate last year and has no chance to make the NFCCG.  Last year was a fluke.  I learned that here in April.

I just watched the game and wow, am I impressed with the throws and decisions he made yesterday.  Albeit against a pair of rookie corners and w/o Danielle Hunter, but he was threading the needle like nobody’s business.  Surely looked like he could compete with Josh and Pat for leagues strongest arm.  Meanwhile, Davis Love the 3rd is the 3rd string qb behind Tim Boyle.  The same Tim Boyle that most of us have never heard of.

yeah good point i was fully expecting David Love to have sent a 1st ballot hall of famer right to the practice squad, just out of the notion that he was so utterly and completely outclassed that he should really just retire in shame.  just weird it didnt pan out like that

This is what the Packers do. They have 4 HoF QBs (soon to be 5), and 3 QBs (Starr, Favre, Rodgers) make up 45 of 100 years of their existence.

What a poorly run organization. Once again we see the idiocy of meddling billionaire owners.

Oh, wait...

They really did blow their draft, and probably wasted Rodgers' last hurrah. Taking Love in the late 1st was idiotic, they could've had their choice of Pittman Jr/Shenault/Mims/Tee Higgins. They also took AJ Dillon in the 2nd, who's nowhere near ready to contribute for them, there were impact players available.

Don’t forget that Favre replaced Majkowski who was a probowl QB that got injured. Plus all of Favre’s backups: Brunell, Brooks, Hasselbeck.... As soon as Wolf landed there they made it a policy to “stay drafting quarterbacks.”

I'd never forget about Depew's finest, MAJIK MAN!

Yup, I like that line...his name just makes it that much better too!

They picked a QB and now Rodgers turned the clock back 4 years.  All offseason people were hyping Rodgers decline and he looks like a new man.  The Packers are playing 4D chess.  Next level mind games.

Damn right, Dr D!  The Majik Man was spectacular in '89, before he got hurt. What a competitor! But the poor guy never really recovered from that torn rotator cuff, which happened on a blatant cheap-shot ...  You just gotta love Buffalo's contribution to NFL quarterbacking -- "Jaworski" and "Majkowski".  I mean, can you get any more Buffalo than that? 😃    (Oh yeah, also Chad Kelly. 😑  )

Just because that’s what they’ve done in the past doesn’t mean that it’s the correct move.  Brett Hundley wasn’t a 1st rd pick, but he was quite useless.

Time will tell, clearly Love may turn out to be their franchise QB, but we’ll never know what would’ve been if they don’t win another SB with AR.

So was that comparison.

Anyway, they haven't won another SB with AR in 9 years, despite all those draft picks since then.  Which rookie picked at 26 or later gets Rodgers another SB win this year (if we are talking about what "would have been")?

Yeah, I heard it all before.  Now the franchise is just  going to wait for love you become a superstar while Rodgers is playing all.  He’s an all time great qb, better than Brett Favre, and played one of the best games I’ve ever seen a play yesterday.

I think it was a poor move but too early to tell.  I would have invested in Rodgers and looked for his replacement in a few years.  The QB market has changed - you can get a god QB in FA if needed.

P*ts already had a "god QB" and then they did heresy and refused to give him more offerings when he requested it.

So Bucs took their "god QB" and discovered time of "god" passed.

And they added Dillon when they already had Aaron Jones, who they later signed to a big extension.  In a draft highly regarded for WRs, they take none?  Sure they had Lazard, Valdez-Scantling, StBrown and Kumerow, but none of them had performed well enough to ignore the position in this last draft.  Even at TE, they’re going with 36 year old Marcedes Lewis, who hasn’t had 30+ catches since 2012.   Yet, yesterday Rogers was able to do a lot with Lazard and MVS.

That’s how some do it.  Some teams try and, you know, win the super bowl when they have one of the best QBs ever still playing amazing football.

Can’t wait to see how Jordan Love pans out.  Reports from training camp explained why he’s behind the great Jim Boyle.

We’re talking about aaron Rodgers.  Maybe I just think he’s better than y’all do.  He deserved better

Rodgersdid pretty well with the scraps he was given yesterday. Maybe the draft day debacle won’t be so bad after all

He didn’t do “pretty good” yesterday.  He played about as well as you can play the position imo.

This throw is unreal

He kicked Danica to the curb and his career got better. ;)

Ricky Stenhouse never won anything when he was with her he has 2 wins and 3 poles since she left to ruin AR's career ;)

Love had nothing to do with it ;)

(on both counts)

Like who?  Watching them yesterday, who do you think he was missing from this year's draft?

True. He does have an elite receiver. They could’ve got him someone else but rodgers seems very pissed off and is going to light it up this year

The argument that Aaron Rodgers played better than anyone yesterday AND he suffered greatly by not drafting someone other than Love in the 1st can't make sense.

Patrick Queen.  8 tackles, a sack and a FF in his first game.

Now come back and tell me how he wouldn’t make a difference.....because your crystal ball is special.  have fun

GB had a top 10 D in points allowed.  Queen may be good this year, but he wasn't going to get Rodgers to a SB.

Lol, this crystal ball of yours is something else.  You should put it on the market while you think it’s worth something

they had a top 10 d in points allowed......so adding Queen wouldn’t do anything.  This is up there with one of your worst takes of all time.  How does this in any way prove anything.  Don’t take into consideration that they lost their starting MLB in FA and that they got destroyed by the niners run game.  Maybe they’d want to IMPROVE their run d?  You can do better than this

No one has a crystal ball, yet you are certain picking Love is the one move that will prevent the Packers from winning the SB. Weird--especially as you say how amazing he was yesterday without some rookie WR or Queen.
