That’s why you see dominant teams like the Rams become mediocre the next year with essentially the same roster. Year to year league. I think overall you're right. However, this also speaks a lot to the quality of coaching and the QB. Goff and Trubisky are both marginal-at-best QBs, but their coach made them work. Eventually, other coaches caught up to what they were doing, and now they are struggling again. It may not be quite that simple, but that has a lot to do with it. Buffalo Bills (6-3, LW: 7) By now we kind of know the deal with the Bills. They’re not bad but not as good as their record. They shouldn’t have lost to the Browns, but it wasn’t a shock. They are 6-3 and in almost no danger of missing the playoffs because their schedule still lines up well. You can practically pencil them in for a game at the No. 4 seed on wild-card weekend, and nobody outside of Buffalo will be too excited to watch.

Dont Stop Billeiving
Understand the pessimism following what might be the most 'Bill-sy' loss we've had so far this year, but a few positives for this week IMO: 1) While Miami appears to be playing better and starting to believe in themselves these last 2 weeks, the talent gap between Cleveland and the Dolphins is insane...is there one healthy/active player on Miami's roster who would start over the equivalent player in Cleveland's lineup (not that they are the Pats or anything)? Reshad Jones if he's able to get healthy this week is the only one I can think of... 2) No Preston Williams or Mark Walton in this game is huge for us as they began the run of exposing Wallace and our run defense a few weeks ago. We *SHOULD* be able to contain Ballage and Albert Wilson and hopefully use this game as a way to experiment and fix our run D/#2 CB spot. 3) The first time we played Miami, there wasn't a ton of game tape available on Fitz yet. Logically, I believe that seeing him a second time in such a short period of time will benefit our defense. Wondering if this situation could be viewed similarly to a starting pitcher's decline in performance the second/third time through the lineup in baseball... Have a lot of faith that we will get the W and that BillsMafia will give us a 'home field' advantage on the road. Go Bills!

Go Bills! there is 100 years of tape on fitz. this game is by far not going to be easy (when has it been this season) for the bills. when an offense can't score points, the defense can only do you so many favors. I'm leaning toward a bills loss as bad as it is for me to believe it but when you talk about faith, I have little faith in the bills offense to get the job done. Solomon Grundy
I think the Bills will find their offense against the Dolphins and they will apply this concept for the rest of the season. More run game, RPO with a sprinkle of playaction for the long ball. Will be surprised seeing Josh purely in shotgun

Yes of course, he's played in the league for ages on several different teams, but as K-9 mentioned above, I meant that with Rosen starting during the early part of the Dolphins season, there was not much video for our defense to scout in terms of Fitz throwing to Miami's WRs. I am sure that some of the playbook/passing concepts changed with the switch from Rosen to Fitz. Regardless, my main point is that I think the Bills defense will be able to apply some lessons learned to this second match up with the Fish. And I'm not a Wallace hater (CBs get beat sometimes and he's a young developing player), but I am hoping to see a bit more of Kevin Johnson in this game to see what he can bring to the table. Jauronimo
This is likely an oversimplification, but I thought the game plan for Fitz was established 5-6 years ago: sit on everything short, stack the box, give him man coverage on the outside and dare him to beat you over the top. That's what I recall from his time in Buffalo. Once opponents keyed in on FJ and sat on the quick stuff our offense stalled. He doesn't have the arm talent to make you pay on the deep ball. He throws them 5 feet out of bounds or underthrows resulting in INTs.

Fitz is 1/11th of the equation on offense. Every other player on that offense will be broken down and scrutinized in every aspect of his game in every game situation. It would be a mistake to assume that because Fitz did certain things with the Jets, for instance, that he would do the same with the Phins. DaBillsFanSince1973
16 BILLS (6-3) ↓ 3 Previous rank: No. 13 The Bills looked like a middle-of-the-pack team on Sunday against the Browns, hence their placement on the Power Rankings. We saw a breakdown in three phases in Cleveland: On offense, Josh Allen sailed a couple deep balls past open receivers (sound familiar?), and Buffalo was held under 20 total points for the fifth time this season. On defense, the Browns were able to march 82 yards on 10 plays for the go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter. On special teams, kicker Steven Hauschka missed two-field goal attempts, including the 53-yarder that sealed Buffalo's fate in the final minute. At 6-3, there's no need to panic. The schedule stays light, with winnable games against the Dolphins and Broncos over the next two weeks. Take care of business there, and a playoff ticket is close to punched. But can this team be trusted right now? NFL.COM Power Rankings Edited November 12, 2019 by DaBillsFanSince1973

SCBills
I honestly wouldn't be opposed to rolling with Singletary and Yeldon, over Gore. He doesn't bring any dynamic ability to the offense, and we're not good when we try to slow down and power run. At least with Yeldon, and the fact we want to pass more, the defense has to respect the multiplicity of our offense with whichever RB is in the game. Also, enough with Lee Smith... Kroft and, especially Knox, are good blockers and we need to move towards a spread attack with one back who has the ability to run, block and catch/run routes out of the backfield. I'm sure this won't happen, but it seems to be a fix for a stagnant offense when we're post trade deadline and have to work with what we have.
