Sam Darnold out for MNF

I never understood that hire. Gase was horrible with Miami and the Jets were center stage for that mess just like the rest of the AFC East, so why would you want to bring that in as your coach? Darnold is a promising young QB and you risk destroying him with ***** coaching. The Jets are a serious mess.

Only Week 1 in the books and they’ve already lost almost all their impact players to injury/mono...

I view the Jets as our biggest rival because they are on a similar timeline in rebuild as us, but I wouldn’t wish that on them.  Brutal.

Awwww, crap

The Jets players have more to be concerned about.  They potentially shared water bottles since they're on the same sideline.....

The virus that causes mono is transmitted through saliva, so you can get it through kissing, but you can also be exposed through a cough or sneeze, or by sharing a glass or food utensils with someone who has mono. However, mononucleosis isn't as contagious as some infections, such as the common cold

I heard an NFL talking head make a similar comment this past weekend about Mayfield being raised by a rookie head coach who is clearly over his head. Could wreck Mayfield for years.

What if they're picking in the top 5.....would they take another QB?

With Gase running the show there is absolutely no idea. It couldn't happen to a better organization though. He's going to set them back another 3-5 years, easy.

"Gase said Darnold could miss several weeks, and has lost a significant amount of weight. "

Since when i wonder? Sunday? Or beforehand? It's all the other symptoms of mono that kind of hurt your appetite (being tired, sore throat, swollen glands, fever) so did they just think he had a cold or what? Top notch docs they got out in Florin Park.

"Phil he's covered in red spots and he feels like he has the flu. His nephew has chicken pox. Chicken Pox right?"

"Nah, probably just allergies"

Yikes, wasnt aware it could get that bad

Yeah, in high school I missed a few months of fall sports because of liability issues. That was a looooong time ago but I assume there's a test to determine when he could return.

There's no treatment for mono other than rest and fluids.  What makes it difficult is that even running and working out could extend the virus, which means a player could need another week or two to get back to playing shape.
