It was a great run and an even better story for the NFL and the international program they’re trying to work. I’m rooting for the guy but as stated above he’s perfect to chill on the practice squad for a year and really learn this game Technically you are correct. However, from a pure “fun of the game” perspective the situation was a made for highlight film moment. It’s also a team builder, look at how excited his teammates were. You can’t make that up. I spent plenty of time in the Midlands back in the day (ex-wife; nuff said) ... some good insights that I missed about Wade. We are talking about him as a threat to our running backs, but the real threat may be to new kick/punt return man Andre Roberts. At any rate, if he keeps it up he'll get his shot since not everyone in front of him will avoid injury. Let's make the Midlands Bills territory! If Birmingham is Detroit, think of Buffalo as Coventry. Or something like that but a lot farther away ...
One Buffalo
I just watched the replay close up a few times, I am not sure that I would call that a muff. (skip to around :40 seconds for the replay) There was no juggling or bobbling, he just positioned the ball and off to the races.

NewEra
What a fun run that was. That being said, keep his roster spot safe on the PS while he learns how to play the game and hope he learns enough to contribute next season
billsfan_34
If he can continue to shine do not be surprised that this kid sticks and Yeldon is shown the door. Disclaimer- I have been an advocate for Yeldon but what I saw last night out of him was less than stellar- that said there is 3 more pre season games left and Wade did his damage against the 3’s. Doc
I think having him as a returner would be a good idea. Would allow Roberts to concentrate on WR, where he's looked good.
Cheektowaga Chad
Definitely need to get him more playing time Gonna be a real interesting decision on the bills hands if he keeps his play up. He might make the team but if not the bills could put him on the practice squad or use the roster exemption. If they use the exemption they cannot promote wade to the roster all season. If they put him on the normal practice squad another team could poach him
That's No Moon
I don't think there is any way he sticks on the 53 right now unless he can start playing special teams at a high level immediately. There are so many small things you need to do well as a rb that don't involve running with the ball, pass blocking being 1st. If he's going to be on the 53 right now you need to find ways to get him on the field to do stuff with as little nuance as possible. Gunner on ST, kick returner, etc. Punt returner is a fun idea but catching punts on a windy day isn't easy if you've never done it particularly with 11 men running at you trying to murder you. Kick returns are a little easier in that you have a little space to get started most of the time.

Looking back, prob thinks he should have signed somewhere else. No chance to beat out Singletary, and McCoy and Gore are going to get a bunch of carries too. Hes looking like the odd man out. Sidenote: his body language on that fumble was terrible. I know its only preseason, but look a little mad that you just cost your team a score... I'm not sure that's fair he did seem to be trying hard for the few carries he was getting and I'm pretty sure he snagged the ankle of the guy that recovered the ball. Fan in San Diego
7 hours ago, Gus said: Hi, UK NFL fan over here, just dropped by this forum to see the reaction to Wade's try, oops sorry - touchdown! lol. I've been watching Wade score tries for fun for the past 10 years. He never quite made it as a regular international player over here (the elite band) due to his height, which is a weakness at his position of wing in rugby (he's bad at contesting high kicked balls, which is part of playing defence on the wing, so oppositions would just relentlessly target him with high balls at the elite level). This is part of the reason why he left to play NFL. Anyways, point is, as a RB or returner, he doesn't have to do any of that, and this guy carries oval balls like the Queen carries grace - he's for real, trust me. The guy is going to make tacklers look stupid, and a whole bunch of us over here are going to be rooting for this bloke, and the Bills! yes yes Christian Mate lets do this go Bills! I was listening to some XM channel, the NFL worked out some special status for these Rugby players, every team in the NFL has one player that can stick on the practice squad. Special exemption status. So Wade I'm sure will stick around in some way. Probably practice squad.
