Devin White.

BPA and top 5 talent, dont care if we are good at LB.

This makes sense....as Alexander is one and done here imho.   Might put white in the middle and move our middle to the end.......where he played in college.

I watched that too.  I wouldn't be too upset with it honestly.  But my thing is you better take Ferguson at 40 because you have to get to the QB at some point.  Guys can't cover all day.

Here is the thing with White that people fail to realize.  If he is versatile, then he could potentially be the pick.  People forget, Luke Kuechly actually started off in Carolina at Outside Linebacker.  Jon Beason was playing in the Middle.  Luke did not move to the middle until Beason got hurt and the rest is history.  So I wouldn't rule out White at 9.

White inside. Edmunds outside.

If we can't get a trade partner for the pick, I would have to choose TJ Hockenson (TE Iowa). DK Metcalf's injury history and short range agility concerns me. Hakeem Butler would be a good pick in the second round if we choose to go with a big body WR.

1. ARZ- QB  Murray

2. 49ers- DE Bosa

3. Jets- DE Allen

4. OAK - Q WILLIAMS

5. Bucs- DT Ed Oliver

6. Giants - DE Gary

7. Jags- OT Taylor

8. Det-  DE Sweat

9. Bills ?

The top 6 Dlineman are off the board in this scenario .  Who will the Bills select . Here's some options .

Wr- DK Metcalf

TE- TJ Hock

OT - Jonah Williams

DE- Brian Burns

DT- Christian Wilkins

LB- Devin White

CB- Byron Murphy

I will take Hock myself but I believe the Bills would lean towards Burns.

I know probably 80% would say trade back but let's just say there's no trade available. If I left out any other candidates please give me your opinions and why.

Good thread, tough choice.

In that order of who you take if the draft falls this way

This was basically my thinking at first glance as well. But I get why people want White.

Hock/Jonah for me too.

That is the worst case scenario for the bills. I guess Murphy or Wilkens,  too high for both.

Burns=maybin no thanks.

1st year TE do nothing for the most part.

White=They are not moving Edmunds

I think White would take over LorAx's spot outside.

Definitely White. Edmunds, Milano and White would be sweet. Beane put us in a position to take bpa. If White is there at 9, I would hesitate trading back with a team that needs a qb. I think he's that good.

Devin White scares the heck out of me.  He is a boom or bust prospect in my eyes.  Lacks the instincts needed at LB but has amazing athleticism that made up for it in college. If he continues to develop the necessary instincts he could be a Hall of Fame level player. If not, he could be an average linebacker at best. That being said, i’d Roll the dice and hope this coaching staff can get him there.  So:

One of the main things I will give to McD is that he seems to be a LB-whisperer. I think if anyone could maximize White, it would be him.

Converting and holding on third down..I think the lines are key on these downs..you take the player that best allows you to get off the field on third down on D or stay on the field on third down on O...

On Offense - Hockenson is a really good edge blocker who can both kick and seal and he is a threat in the quick passing game.

On D- Wilkins is solid against the backside cut back run and gets pressure up the middle .. which is important on third down to disrupt quick passing plays

Hockenson or Wilkins with a slight edge toward Wilkins since the Interior DL drop off is pretty steep after him and TE is deeper.

I like Christian Wilkins but I think we need to pump the brakes on him a little bit here. He's played next to 2 beasts and can only get 11sacks combined over the last 2 yrs. I see Wilkins as a Donte Witner type prospect he'll be a solid pro but nothing special.

Playing along, In this scenario, I’m ‘the Bills’ and select Burns.

But Burns is on a lighter side and has great athleticism so he's a shoe in to bust like the guy we took 10 YEARS AGO.

Based on some chatter, I'm starting to think the Bills have strong interest in Mr. Burns. I'm fully on board. The defense is a pass rusher away from being dominant and he's got a ton of the "P" word.

I understand your point that just because Maybin was a bust, doesn't mean every undersized pass rusher will be.  Burns had much more consistent production than Maybin did.  Still, Burns has put on 20lbs since the season ended by working out constantly.  He is now only a little undersized for DE in the NFL, but I would worry that since he is not naturally that big and had to work so hard to gain weight, would he be able to maintain it during the season when he won't be able to maintain that kind of workout schedule with games, recovery days, minor injuries etc.?

Valid points. I would have liked to see how many times he could throw up 225. I still like him as a prospect/Lorax replacement. The questions are there but so is the talent.

Might be interesting If they see him as an outside LB who they'll use often as a pass rusher.

I think that would be a distinct possibility, but the guy is 6'5 with a huge wingspan and demonstrated the ability to shed blockers at the collegiate level despite his lack of bulk. He's obviously athletic enough to drop into coverage. Just hasn't done it.

I wouldn't be at all disappointed with the pick. The coaching staff would have to be creative WRT his role because he is a unique player. But if you think he's got elite pass rush ability, he should be strongly considered.

I've always wanted to see the Bills land a Jevon Kearse type player and Burns is close to that.

Maybin did the same thing before the Combine.  Who can forget this pic?

It was always suspicious that they only showed him from the waist up.

If nothing else, Burns is a lot faster and more agile than Maybin was. But damn, he's skinny.

Burns at OLB next to 6'5" Edmunds at MLB... would have to be the biggest,  lankiest, fastest LBs in the league.

Wouldn't even need to get sacks. Just use them as shot blockers. Be like lining Mutombo up next to Mark Eaton. They can't catch it if never reaches the receiver.:D
