Is Kim qualified?

Recommended Posts

What is a president? Once someone can explain that then I might be able to explain how Russ Brandon’s former BOSS can also do Russ Brandon’s former job.

Lets just hope she is smart enough to listen to the sports business people she has working under her rather than thinking she knows it all.  I am hopeful she will act this way, but cannot, of course, be certain.

Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News said other ex-player hockey presidents were "laughing" at Kim Pegula's promotion. Well Russ was equally qualified to be a hockey president as Kim.

EDIT: Harrington deleted the tweet.

So what she has been doing already?

I’d like to laugh, but it makes me want to cry instead.

The Pegula’s have done little right during their time as owners of the Bills, and to a much greater extent, the Sabres.

No, not from a business perspective, not from a football or hockey perspective.

Of course, being married to the billionaire who owns both teams changes a few things, however.

Not that it matters, but being a president of the club should have no impact on the football or hockey perspective.  I think that was part of the problem with Russ.  He thought he knew the game(s) as well as the business side of it and had to always make sure his voice was heard.

I don't know much other than she has a communications degree.  What she has been involved in since they bought the sabres to now could probably be figured but I'm not really concerned about her trying to manage rosters or impose her will on the coaches and GMs.

Probably not as qualified as many others, but when you are married to the owner, mistakes while in training will be tolerated...a lot.

We have a good thing going here, I just don't want things to go off course.

The "right-est" thing they have done is keep the Bills in Buffalo. That is a BIG right to me and pretty much makes me tolerate anything else while they learn.

This were I am at.

I don't want  her near the football side and just focus on the business side.

Seamless transition. None of the folks running the respective football and hockey operations are impacted.

He's the QB coach who is going to single handedly prevent Josh Allen from improving and reaching his potential.

These guys are a joke, believe me I've known a couple. Typically these guys end up getting promoted through the "old" boy network way more than other professional sports. And, many of them barely finished high school. I know one guy in particular that was dumber than a box rocks and he ended up after retiring from playing ,being given the job. Some of them go right from the ice to the GM job and onward.

The President doesn't get mad. The President gets upset. When the President gets upset it is someone else's job to get mad.

I think it's great that Kimmy is taking the reigns and I am confident she has met the qualifications.

Obviously, the answer is "no."

Also, before the other thread was locked, I didn't get a chance to thank the person ("colin") who chimed in by saying that Kim P. is where she is today because SHE "slept with the boss" way back when.  IF they forced RB out because he was having a CONSENSUAL relationship with a coworker, the irony & hypocrisy would be notable.

Yeah!  Well, except for keeping the Bills (at least) in Buffalo and them getting to the playoffs in just their 3rd full season of ownership.  But other than that, they've done nothing right.

It's their money and they aren't rich from stupidity. I'm sure she is just an interim at the position and they will hire someone else.

In all honestly, I hope they hire someone for each part (pse, sabres, bills).  I couldn't imagine the amount of work required to run one of those positions let alone all three.

She can only be here 6 months out of the year to qualify for the tax break they get for residing in Florida. I'd have to believe at some point that will be an issue. I'm really glad Russ is out but I feel the same with Kim as President of both, those positions should be filled with qualified people imo.

I guess hiring that buffoon Rex was just a tiny misstep?  Also, I stated that their screwups have been much greater on the Sabres side.

PS How much goodwill do they get for keeping the teams here?  They were going nowhere.

No owner is perfect.  How many coaches did RW hire that didn't work out.  They also hired the guy who got us to the playoffs.  Now the sabres...ill give ya that one.
