PromoTheRobot
Ah, spring. Just days before the draft, when a Bills fan's thoughts turn to franchise quarterbacks. It's a given we will be taking one high, likely with a trade up. And of course the expectation is that QB will start immediately and be great. But deep down we all know how this will play out. The fanbase is divided over who to take, even if we picked first. And whoever falls to us will be considered a consolation prize and a sign that Beane got cold feet with his trade up offers. But we will end up with someone. And it's likely they will be uneven. Some good things, some bad. Opinions will be formed in OTA's and camp. Some will panic. Some will defend him. So my question is how long do we fans give our new franchise QB before we start talking about the 2019 draft?
Seanbillsfan2206
I think McCarron starts no matter what. I’ll give him 4 games. Then it’s sink or swim time for the rookie

Depends who it is, but this is a young regime filled with guys who are capable of tuning out fan mob reaction, which is a good thing. They'll manage expectations as well as they can and they'll deal with negativity. Sure, some fans will panic. Most Bills fans are reasonable people and they know this year doesn't look like a good one anyway. McCarron's a guy who will make things interesting and give us reasonable chances to win, IMO. Pine Barrens Mafia
I’d give him the same number of starts as tryhard. Unless it’s Jackson. I can’t even go there mentally.

CommonCents
If it's Allen, Mayfield, Rosen or Darnold I will give them until halfway of 19' If they still are making sloppy mistakes and failing to call audibles then it's hunting season. If they wait on a QB and take a Rudolph, Jackson, Lauletta I will have a harder time remaining patient.

cd1
I believe that there will be some here who will HATE the new QB on draft day and they will not stop until the Bills get a QB to their liking. OldTimeAFLGuy
...TBD criteria CLEARLY stipulates that OTA's, pre-season, scant mop duty and/or ONE regular real deal start is ample time to be labeled a "bust".....this would commonly be known as a "Bills career"......welcome draftee!......ADVICE: stay in school and get your PhD.........red carpet has pigeon stains................ 1
BuffaloBillyG
If whoever we draft hasn't thrown for 300 yards at least 5 times and 40 TDs as a Bill by Friday morning...we need to cut him and take someone else in round 2.

So.... the lines will be drawn on April 26th 2018 Probably true. I'm amazed at how serious and angry some fans are. Is a football team the center of the universe? I'm a fan since they came into the league but they are down the list a way as far as priorities and emotional investments go. I can't bring myself to the level of love or hate some fans seem to profess. The old saying "it's just a game" is true if we step back a bit. baskingridgebillsfan
hmm it depends on AJ. and this year If the new qb doesn't get 6 starts this year than I probably gain nothing. If he gets 6 starts this year and most of next and sucks then they are back at it

Yeah I guess it depends on how he plays. If we start out 4-0 and McCarron is lighting it up, then we obviously stick with him. If we’re 0-4 and McCarrons stats are meh, then it’s time to throw the rookie in

Boatdrinks
I'd say the Bills give a first round draft pick 3 years minimum. Then they would have to decide on picking up the 5th year option or not. Fans will probably be less patient and will make up their minds much sooner.
buffalobloodfloridahome
I think this will have allot to do with who we draft. If we get Rosen I expect more out of him earlier than any of the other rookies. Josh Allen got to give him more time, anybody else somewhere in between. OldTimeAFLGuy
...well there goes THAT idea............... Colts have turned down multiple trade offers for QB Jacoby Brissett. Colts GM Chris Ballard spoke highly of Brissett, mentioning "he’s committed, he’s a great teammate, he’s got juice" and "he holds people accountable". "I love Jacoby," Ballard said. Brissett has two years left on his contract for a total of $1.6 million, which makes it easy for the Colts to keep him as Andrew Luck's backup. Ballard additionally mentioned he would have to be "bowled over" with an offer before parting ways with Brissett.
