The days of the Bills taking scraps off of everyone else's trash heaps are thankfully behind us.  No more Reggie Bush, Shawne Merriman, AJ McCarron, Mario Williams, Vince Young, Matt Leinert or other has-beens or never-weres.

Now Mario Williams played good.

I'm not sure Clowney is currently that much better than Espenesa and if what the ESPN article says is true and he picks and chooses when he feels like playing he's a coaching nightmare and a little to diva for my liking.  Clowney might still be a little more talented than some of our rotation but I'm still not a fan of having him on our roster.  He seems like a turd.

Putting Mario on this list is a joke. He was legit an all pro for a few years. The rest of those guys were complete scrubs.

That's wildly, wildly inaccurate, but ok. Clowney is an elite run defender. Watkins has never been considered elite at any aspect of WR at the NFL level.

an “elite run defender” is exactly the same type of nonsense that is applied to Sammy— who was considered elite at “drawing coverage away from other receivers.” Those are just ways to make excuses for lack of actual production.

Clowney was the number 1 overall pick in the draft, and the numbers don’t lie. His production as a defensive end is putrid. Elite ends are expected to stop the run— that is just par for the course. But they are paid to sack the QB.

Clowney is just a plain bad. And he apparently also has a bad attitude. There is a reason that no one wants to pay him money and no one ever wants to re-sign the guy. The one time a team Re-signed him (Browns), they clearly now have regretted it.

This is all completely incorrect and shows a complete ignorance to the intricacies of the game of football. You could do better than this take with 5 minutes of poking around the internet.

The market doesn’t lie. Clowney seems to be the only one surprised that no one will sign him to more than a 1-year deal.

Haha, this thread and one hit is why he somehow keeps getting contracts. He is the Sam Bradford of DEs. A dime a dozen player who gets treated like he is some star.

He's made a fortune off this one highlight.

He's not a bum, but he's far from elite and nowhere as good as he thinks he is.

I think he probably said that because Clowney is basically a Merc who has been on a bunch of teams if we’re looking for solid run support, we already have that in Shaq Lawson, and I understand that Epenesa and Booggz have not lived up to potential we do have cheaper options on the team and it’s all about spreading the money around to have a balance roster

People don't realize just how closely NFL personnel people follow recruiting........especially the road scout types like Doug Whaley.........I think that Cyrus Kouandjio and Sammy Watkins picks were heavily influenced by them being 5 star recruits from the same class as Clowney.

Agree 100%. As much as I want the Bills to draft OL and like players from Alabama, right after that draft I said that Kouandjio was a wasted pick, and that there were 3 or4 better blockers on Alabama alone that season. He also had a fairly serious injury.

Depending on his out put this year & if he is completely healthy i could see Beane in from top his caldron stirring up a scenario where he could bring him in for pass rush situations if the money was REALLY CHEAP & only for a play off run nothing at all beyond that if they had the extra cash & didn't have to release someone else to do it .

But i for one am not a fan i was when he came out i thought he would be a really great player but has in no way lived up to that hype !!
