Itā€™s probably been mentioned, but this thread is up to 39 pages, so: do the Bills have a QB sneak in their playbook?

Ā

4th and one, your QB is 6-5, 240+ lbs and he rolls out to the left then has to outmaneuver defenders and runs about 30 yards to get the first down? Ā He should be able to lean left or right of the center and pick up a yard. Ā Great run to watch but itā€™s ridiculous to not run a sneak.

Yeah, I really dont know why the hell they dont run the QB sneak anymore. Ā Josh Allen is money with it and honestly almost all QBs are money with it because success rate is high across the NFL. Ā Its like we had one bad time against the Titans last year and they took it out of the playbook.

Ā

Think it has to do with the OL. They just aren't a run blocking OL and Morse, who Josh would be running behind, just doesn't get that push up front. I think they know they can't do it.

Ā

They definitely use to be able to do it.Ā  I couldn't find the data for 2020 butĀ  In 2018 and 2019 Allen was 23 out of 24 QB sneaks which was the best in the NFL

Ā

https://billswire.usatoday.com/2020/06/08/pro-football-focus-josh-allen-qb-sneak/

Ā

This was behind Russell Bodine and Ryan Groy as center in 2018 and Mitch Morse in 2019.Ā  Ā One hopes that this season's O-line is better than the 2018 o-line.Ā  That season Vlad Ducasse was the Bills' highest rated interior lineman according to PFF.

Itā€™s not. The old resign/re-sign debacle is universal.Ā

Ā

Also the refs/NFL is out to get us.

Yeah it's weird I've thought the same thing.Ā  Esp when it's just inches you fall forward into a gap - just look at Brady who has 1/100th the strength and athleticism of Josh, but has been automatic his whole career regardless what the OL was.Ā  Unfortunately against the Titans there was no gap where he went.Ā  Contrary to popular opinion, he didn't miss the sneak because he slipped or someone missed an assignment on the OL, he "slipped" after the Titans DT lined up in the exact gap they had run the sneak a number of times previous, and Dawkins had no chance to get any leverage to move the DT - he was already there and Josh ran right into him.Ā  It seems more art than science (or brute strngth) - get up, snap quick, and recognize and get low and lean forward into the right gap.Ā  No idea why they seem to have taken it out of the playbook.

Credit to Howard and Jeremy this morning. Ā  They are šŸ’Æ on point discussing the offensive issues/frustrations this morning.Ā

Ā

Watching it live, it's always tough to see what is really happening.Ā  But the general sense I had was for all our glowing raves of bringing back Kromer, a game like yesterday was when we really needed to see if improvements were being made.Ā  And it was tough sledding.Ā  I did here that the entire OLINE was finally back together so maybe just not having a lot of live fire reps can explain some of that.Ā  We shall see.Ā

I still cant believe Harbaugh didn't kick the FG to take the lead. Who cares as it worked out for the Bills. The INT was "the play" within the play. Got the Bills out to the 20 instead of starting at the 2. This game will most likely get replayed on the NFLN this week. Hopefully 8:00 either Tuesday or Wed night. It always nice to re-watch exciting games especially when the Bills win them.

Harbaugh says if you look at the analytics of it, I understand why we did it.Ā  Hmm. So you didn't do it? Guess this could be the year. Maybe the leauge had them go for it. Rigged NFL but I still like it.

Ā

I didn't realize the Ravens have lost five in a row at home.Ā  Dating back to last year:

Ā

Packers 31 Ravens 30

Rams 20 Ravens 19

Steelers 16 Ravens 13

Dolphins 42 Ravens 38

Bills 23 Ravens 20

Ā

And now here comes the Bengals on SNF

Ā

In most of those games he relied on analytics and they have backfired.Ā  Live on the altar of analytics die on the altar..

You take the lead late in the game. Terrible call

There doesn't seem to be much talk about how many times Allen ran the ball yesterday (11 times). Usually there is a pretty vocal group when Allen runs that much in a pretty physical game. Is it because his runs yesterday were so essential to winning the game?

Ā

Just curious.

Now that I've watched Poyer's postgame interview...pretty obvious to me that his injury question dismissal of merely getting "the wind knocked out" of him is TOTAL BS. He definitely either tweaked his previous elbow injury, suffered new shoulder and/or rib damage, or I'm just wrong. His answer in the press conference felt obviously disingenuous. So rushed.Ā

Ā

Big hit, ribs hurt, gets xray, xray is negative; just got the wind knocked out of him.

Ā

Seems reasonable to me.

I think on a wet day like that, having a running QB is a real weapon. I just donā€™t like him running at the end of games that we have already won.

Took a peek at the Ravens message board...can't believe how many of their fans are questioning the decision to go for it at the end.Ā

Ā

It was the right decision, not even debatable IMO.Ā

Ā

Can't be results oriented.Ā

Ā

I REMEMBER this play.Ā  I had a perfect view of it from my seats.Ā  It was so far away from the scrum as to be obvious.Ā  And not called..

Also, Two things I noticed watching the highlights.Ā  Motor is not being used properly and Moss should not see the field, and Josh needs to stop asking for Flags.

Agree Moss should not be on the field.Ā  Josh asking for flags gave us a critical first down.Ā  Josh takes multiple hits to the head every game and they are NEVER called. He took a few yesterday that weren't noticed by the refs.Ā

I agree, but I dont want him turning into Brady.Ā  Looking for a flag after every bad play.

A win is a win. We take it.

Ā

We were behind 17 points, shut down MVP QB Lamar Jackson in the 2nd half of a game for the 2nd time in his career, to come back to win on the road.

Ā

We da real deal Bills.

Ā

Our running back core is abysmal though. OMG. There is nothing the coaches and management can do about that at this point. Just air it out. And unfortunately, Josh Allen has to use his legs, too. *shrugs* oh well.

Ā

Our defense remains number one in the NFL. That's hot.

Itā€™s not all on the running backsā€¦even when our starters are in on the offensive line we have some of the worst run blocking in the leagueĀ

Agreed. Both Dungy and Garrett said they would have kicked the FG on SNF.Ā

They knew if they kicked the FG, Allen would just drive it down for a TD.Ā  Their best bet was to go for it, maybe they should have run it instead of having their RB throw it?

Yea I think harbaugh said his logic was thereā€™s no way they stop josh in 4 down territoryā€¦Lamar was in the classic damned if you do damned if you donā€™t situation. Ā If he throws the ball away on 4th down itā€™s a waste of a play because they were turning the ball over on downs if the pass was incomplete anyway but the interception in the end zone was devastating because we got 16 extra yards of field positionĀ

They were holding all dayā€¦we got away with some too. Ā In those games where weā€™re like ā€˜why is our defensive line invisibleā€™ itā€™s because the refs are lettin them play on the offensive line šŸ˜

yep, when Poyer intercepted it, first thing I thought was: Great, Better Field Position!

I apologize for the horrible screenshot, may have been brought up and it's moot now... but would this not be offensive PI?Ā

Ā

The ridiculous play on that 3rd and long that Lamar got out of, Andrews tipped the ball to Bateman.... Andrews was all over the back of Milano way before the ball ever got there. Seems like offensive PI.Ā

Ā

(tried to highlight the ball with yellow)

Ā

I had to go back and take a pic of this with my phone during the commercial break. I was in SHOCK there were TWO officials right there watching and neither threw a flag. The Ravens held EVERY DAMN PLAY
