Rivalry goes back awhile. Bryson might be the most punchable guy in sports.

Koepka: “I felt it difficult to read sometimes”

Bryson: “Just gotta start it on the right line”

Brooks: (deep sigh) 🙄

I’m on the other side of this one. Hate Bryson.

I can see why people hate Bryson. But Koepka is an even bigger DB in my book, especially with him throwing shade at Dustin Johnson.

the reality is that golf has a lot of very good likeable young players— and these “bros” like Koepka and Bryson are not among them.

It goes back a couple of years. Brooks was extremely vocal about Bryson's slow play and it's morphed from there. Brooks has also accused Bryson of taking steroids. Brooks is definitely more vocal (publicly)between the two.

I originally thought Brooks was a jerk for calling out Bryson. Bryson's act has grown tiring and I'm not much of a Brooks fan. He has his own quirks that I find annoying (only seemingly trying to win majors and not caring about the lesser tournaments). But this is something golf needs...a good rivalry between two top players.

I will say that what I sort of like about Bryson is he has a method to his madness, and is trying to do something revolutionary and unique--which is great for golf.

I agree. I only casually follow golf. I may stop if it's on while flipping through channels, but this could peak my interest.

Exactly! I was thinking this might even be good for golf.  It’s all so “gentlemanly”, and a little emotion like this could make it more interesting and relatable.

They are both arrogant pricks but Bryson takes it to a whole other level. He's slow to the point of maddening. I found this little gem from last year regarding Bryson and his metal spikes. Jon Rahm is 👍

It's ridiculous that there are still tour pros trotting around with metal spikes.

Have the trailing foursome rattle their shots at him when he dawdles, or get that retired USMC drill sergeant acting as a course marshal to encourage expedited play.  ("GUDDAMMIT MAGGOT, ARE YOU WAITING FOR A FORMAL INVITATION TO HIT THE BALL?!?!")  That will liven things up. 😁

Brooks is a realist about golf and for that, I'm a fan.  He says what 95% of the people think about golf.  It's takes too long, you don't even know what hole you are in in the middle of the course, the majors are the only tournaments people care about, etc.

It's a game, and Brooks treats it that way.  Doesn't take it seriously and is out there to make some money.

Not sure I agree with you, including “he doesn’t take it seriously.” This is a guy that talks trash about others, plays no practice rounds with any of the other guys, and has literally zero friends on the tour. He has a bunch of petty feuds and makes whiny or passive aggressive comments all the time —eg,  he couldn’t even show some class towards Mickleson, instead exaggerating a story about fans trying to take his knee out. Give me a break.

he is exactly the type of annoying guy too that you would find on the golf course playing speed golf on people’s backs, and constantly griping and complaining about the small stuff.

I just find it to be boorish behavior.
Shows almost no respect for the other guys or the game. I will take Rory or Dustin or a bunch of the other young guys over him— guys who have personalities, have fun, get along with others, and show respect for the game and for each other.

Well, it’s golf, so.....

If it’s PPV, my money would go to you and @Royale with Cheese in a cage match!   :)

I actually think this kind of element might be good for the PGA. That says more about our country than the PGA.

Ahhh, the classic "respect for the game"

Also, Brooks was nothing but class playing with Mickelson, even after he rubbed him the wrong way when Brooks was a kid.  Those feelings just don't go away and Brooks put it aside to be nothing but a great competitor on Sunday, even after Phil should have been docked for slow play plenty of times on Sunday.  No to mention that the security lost complete control of the crowd.  How is that Brooks fault?

I'm curious how many interviews you actually listened to from Brooks.  From your response, it sounds like zero, which I don't understand how you have a strong opinion if you really don't know.
