Favorite:  White Christmas

Least Favorite: I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

I have a lot of Christmas tunes I really like and will listen to them throughout the year.

Growing up in BUF or WNY gotta be White Christmas.

A savant—pretty much any member of the rat pack you could pose the same question about, IMHO. Timeless quality!

Saw him with Frank & Sammy, Seattle 1988.  Dean was pretty much wasted, but Frank was good and Sammy stole the show.

Whams Last Christmas

My wife used to LOVE this song. I didn't, so I sabotaged it for her a couple of years back. Every time it'd come on, I'd sing:

Last Christmas

I gave you my heart
And the very same day

I passed away

She can't listen to that song now without being horrified.

Dean didn’t last much longer, quitting the tour by flinging his lit cigarette into the crowd

I think this one is pretty briliant...I know most people never listen to the things that are linked, but give this one a chance....give it a little over a minute to catch its stride..

Hard to beat Dean Martin’s baby it’s cold outside, just for kicking back with some eggnog while decorating the tree, although that seems to be quickly getting banned from radio play per another thread; as far as carols go, o holy night is up there for me as well as German carols from that part of my family, like “Leise Rieselt der Schnee.” Classic melodies that always take me back to being a kid and what should be the wonder of the Christmas spirit. Least fav is probably Santa Baby or Blue Christmas

This is now my favorite song because liberals are stupid.

I have three favorite songs, all tied for #1.

-Christmas Song- Nat King Cole

-White Christmas- Bing

-Baby Please Come Home- Darlene Love

Keep the covers away, mildly militant about it.

Favorite album is Charlie Brown Xmas/Vince Guaraldi.

Mine have already been mentioned, but:

All-time fav: Run Rudolph Run by Keef, wore out the 45 w/ Harder They Come back in the day.

Traditional fav: Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire by NKC, could listen to this all day.

Least fav: Wonderful #$%^ing Christmastime by Macca, gives me a bad attitude.

It was his response to Happy Xmas (War is Over)

a cheesy make-out song

Favorite classic:

Chestnuts - Nat King Cole

White Christmas - Bing

Baby It's Cold Outside - Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald

Favorite modern:

Please Come Home - Eagles

Happy Christmas/War Is Over - Lennon/Ono

Little Drummer Boy - Bing/Bowie

Something About Christmastime - Bryan Adams

I need to give the least favorites some thought.  Nothing is popping out to me.  As much as I love McCartney, I have to admit that his song is not very good.

Even though I don't consider myself a practicing Christian these days, I find most of the traditional Christmas hymns enjoyable.  Not a big fan of "pop" Christmas songs but a few have been good, like Springsteen's Santa Claus is Comin' to Town and U2's Baby Please Come Home.

Edit:  oh, and I can't believe I forgot to mention Mannheim Steamroller.  Love listening to their stuff during the season.

Not sure I've heard this version, gonna have to look it up. There's a verson from a few years ago of Willie Nelson and Nora Jones that's been my favorite.

I also forgot to mention Run Run Rudolph by Chuck Berry. I've never really heard a cover of it, including Keith's, that I really cared much for.

The song is amid controversy all of a sudden ?

I forgot my absolute worst, hadn’t heard it in years until last night in a store: Barbra Streisand - Jingle Bells. Macca’s is annoying but this one gives me an instant headache. I would look for a YouTube link but I experienced enough pain yesterday.

Macca's is ubiquitous

especially when you are waiting in line and in a hurry to get out of the store

This week Howard Stern played several "depressing" Christmas songs and they were unbelievable.  One about a kid asking Santa for shoes for his dying mom so she would be wearing them to meet Jesus, one about a homeless kid who dies in Santa's lap...like, what in the hell were these "artists" thinking?

Probably spent too much time listening to Howard Stern and it has been known to cause brain damage.

It’s not a Christmas song but this always made me laugh around this time of year as a kid

there is almost nothing more i instinctively despise than this man's work

best moment was when Stuttering John got him with "when are you going to do your first remotely funny bit?"

I'm more of a classics type listener, like Bing Crosby, etc.

Johann Pachelbel - Canon in D Major (you may be more familiar with the Trans Siberian Orchestra version that added lyrics

Enya - Silent Night, heard this on the radio, maybe late 1990's, called the station and they confirmed it was her. It was the early days of the internet, I had to search and finally found it on a CD in Australia.

For something a little more modern...

Bobby Lloyd & The Skeletons-Do You Hear What I Hear / You Really Got Me

I'm in a really grinch mood this year and am trying to ignore christmas but that being said, this fits nicely into this category and the SNL category.  Not sure why I liked the original so much, it's so basic and simple yet it cracks me up everytime I watch it...now add in that little hottie Ariana Grande and I am all in
