That’s the way they’re run. That’s the way they play. They are the 33rd NFL franchise is this country.” Earlier this year, analytics site Prediction Machine said Alabama would be a huge underdog against defending AFC champion New England. But matched up with lesser-talented squads without a future Hall of Famer at quarterback would be very different, Murray says. “I would say, Alabama vs. the Buffalo Bills tomorrow — that’s a single-digit score difference right there,” Murray said during Tuesday's show. “I’d take Bama,” Childers said. After pondering his response for a moment, Murray agreed. "You can’t tell me the quarterbacks for the Bills could dominate Alabama’s defense," Murray said.

Yeah, well usually they pick on the Brows or (several years ago) the Rams. I tend not to buy it. I still think since more than half of Bama won't be good enough for NFL and the size/speed/strength difference from college to NFL is real. I think we'd look like all-stars and win by a large margin.

True story. I agree fully. The fact is there is a fundamental difference between NFL and college. Besides NFLs commitment (or attempt at) parity, in the NFL, wins are everything, but in college style points and running up the score matter (arguably more than wins), so naturally they have flashy offenses and whatnot. The flashiness and huge score differentials drive this narrative imo.

jaybee
Alabama has maybe 7 - 10 players with NFL potential on their roster. The Bills have.........................53. Every player has been vetted by professional scouts. This subject is another data point highlighting how dumb football fans are. 7
zonabb
So a team of NFL players drafted or signed in the NFL would lose to a team of boys where not all 22 starters are even close to NFL talent? Got it.

dave mcbride
At least half the starters on Bama won't make an NFL squad. The way we played week 1 half of our starters looked like they had no business being in the NFL. The first game and a half of this season I don't consider the Bills an NFL team. I didn't say a college team would beat us either.... just give us a game. The second half this past week we looked like an NFL team for the first time. Still a poor NFL team, but an NFL team. Playing like that we obviously beat any college side handily.

Bray Wyatt
We are also talking about grown men vs boys. The boys who still have to go attend class etc. and not focus on football all the time. Plus how many times have we seen great college players flame out in the NFL? The whole premise seems interesting on the surface but when you dig deeper there is no way.

He completed passes against NFL players (albiet backups), and elite college players from last year in the preseason at an 80% clip. I think it's real hard to make that kind of argument that he would not be able to complete passes. If you dominate NFL backups (which I would describe 80% as), you would be effective against ANY college squad.

Exactly, even if Alabama, as good as they are, have 10-15 NFL level players on their team right not, Buffalo has 53 (or close to it) The NFL is full of the top several players from every college team. People seem to forget how elite the athletes are at the next level.

Augie
A bunch of Bama players will be in the NFL one day. EVERY Bills player is in the NFL today. No contest in my mind. Even the worst NFL players were stars at every level for their whole lives. This is the part we disagree with. Pretty much all Alabama players are this. That’s why they are there. The roster is littered with 4 and 5 star players. Only the best players in the country go there. They don’t have to go through a draft. They pick the best guys and then chase them. Many of them are young so that’s the big difference. There are 30 plus guys on Alabama that belong in the NFL. That MAY be more than the Bills roster. There are certainly more future pro-bowlers on Alabama than the Bills and they have the edge at QB (although both may be good pros). With that being said the Bills still won by 2 scores.
brianthomas
What rules would we be playing with? CFB'S? or the NFL's? Because that makes a huge impact as well. If its NFL rules with both 2 feet in bounds & all that jazz then no question the Bills would win. If its CFB rules the game would be a tad bit closer, but like others have said, the talent level of an NFL team, even a bad one is still good enough to win head to head imo. This topic is fools gold haha
