elroy16
Is anyone else annoyed by the "they backed into the playoffs due to the Bengals help" nonsense? A. Most teams in the playoffs needed some sort of help at some point. Yes, it came down to the final few minutes, I don't care. B. Since the division restructure in 2002 (16 years), a 9-7 team or worse has made the playoffs in all but 3 years. Call me a baby, I'm sure I sound like one, but damn that annoys me. It's not like they got in the playoffs with a 7-9 record.

The fact that the play that sealed the deal, and is arguably the most memorable moment of the season, hell the decade, was from the okayest QB in the league is actually quite funny. The point wasn’t that we got rid of him because he was black, the point was that a non-zero percentage of the fan base was happy we got rid of him because he was black. Like the two guys with seats in the row behind us who reveled in calling him a “dumb n———“ on a number of occasions. Granted, I lived in the RTP area of North Carolina, which is fairly “cosmopolitan.” But I spent plenty of time in the sticks down there too, all over the south. I think part of it is that the south had to confront their race relations in very public ways from reconstruction, to the Jim Crow era, to the civil rights movement, while northern states largely got to think “well, that’s not a problem here.”
