What is the most boring NFL city?

Just out of curiosity why do you think the city is boring?  We have way more stuff than most cities have imo.  Great food, great bar districts, Casinos, one of the wonders of the world in NF, world class strip clubs,  beautiful parks for hiking and such as Letchworth Park, excellent fresh water fishing, a beautiful freshwater Lake that is second to none for water activities, maid of the mist, jet boat tours, a beautiful museum.  Sorry we don't have a drive thru Daiquiri Stand like the sh*thole you live in.

A lot of cities have that if you are with the right people. Detroit has everything that you listed except NF (which no one in Buffalo ever goes to).

I spent the overwhelming majority of my life in Buffalo and my family is still there. I am there all of the time. Objectively viewing though as an outsider it is near the bottom of the list. The weather is nice 3 months of the year. It’s a great place to raise a family but doesn’t offer anything that the overwhelming majority of NFL cities don’t have. I have a great time in Buffalo but I know where to go and what to do. If I were from any other city that would hold true.

My sister has been in Cleveland for 20 years and that place has a lot going on compared to Buffalo. They have word class chefs (Michael Symon, Zach Burrell, Jonathan Sawyer), a bunch of breweries, 3 pro sports teams, casino, flourishing lakefront, vibrant theater district, museums, concert venues on the water, a nice zoo, etc... You can literally find a great time in any city if you know what you are doing. People always get insecure when this topic arises. Being objective though, Buffalo is way down on the list.

Ha ha, did you forget about October Surprise?!? We didn’t have power for like 10 days!! I’ll give you September (and you can combine late May and early October). The early part of the football season is great weather.

It is almost the opposite here. June, July and August are oppressive. This last week has been especially hot. The heat index over the weekend was 114!! You either stay in the pool or in the AC. You really any do anything else.

I haven't forgotten about the October surprise BUT you cant lump an otherwise usually beautiful time of year in Buffalo because of one freak snow storm (regardless of how much those two weeks without power sucked haha). October is the perfect fall, football, light jacket weather!

You are right, thats too hot...I LOVE the heat, but I love the heat when I am by the ocean.

I would rate Santa Clara & Oakland pretty low.

It's too bad the 49ers left San Francisco. Even though it's full of hipsters, yuppies and trust fund techies, it's still a gorgeous city with so much history and things to do. Santa Clara is a giant strip mall. Some of the best food I've ever had, but would I go to watch football there? No way.  Oakland is a expensive dump (no joke!).

Buffalo wouldn't be the worst, but it would be pretty far down on the list. Sorry.

Best places? Seattle, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville and Denver

And think about how much has improved since the Pegulas arrived? There would be nothing at the foot of Main. No Canalside. No Harborcenter. Maybe the casino and naval park.

No doubt, the Pegula have done wonders for WNY. A lot of other people invested downtown before it was “cool.” Croce, Termini, Sinatra, etc... have done a ton for Buffalo by investing early.

I live in Buffalo. I criticize it plenty, but mostly for the horrendous weather for half of the year. I realize there is nothing I or the city can do about that though (I can't move, job with pension and wifes company are here), so I don't trash it too much. The weather sucks balls. The people are great. The food is great. There is entertainment (I have seen 6 concerts in the past 16 days and will see another tomorrow night). You just gotta poke around.

Orchard park, new era- great place to watch a Bills game... one of the better game day experiences around due to tailgating situation and very cheap tix and concessions... good food

As far as NFL cities and non NFL fun. Cinci, Cleveland, Buffalo, Jax to me are meh. Charlotte was sort of a snoozer  and San Diego is a quiet place also.

Don’t get me wrong, in high school and  a few college summers b-lo was just fine...

Over exaggeration that we only have 3 months of nice weather.  May, June & so far July have been beautiful.  August is also a beautiful month, as well as September & usually October(although we do get the unusual storm from time to time.)  You mention October Surprise, which did suck, but I was golfing two weeks later.  I would much rather have that then what your city had to deal with in Katrina.  November & December get a bad rap around here.  For the most part they are not bad.  Yes we get pounded with a Lake effect snow storm that time of year but there are a lot of times I am still golfing in December & plus you have the holidays which makes the weather more bearable.  The 4 months that usually suck around here are Jan - April.  April is the most aggravating month for me personally.  The weather should be nice by then but often times it stillin the 40's/low 50s.  It seems once out of every 4-5 years we have a nice March/April.  Talk about crazy, this year I believe April was the coldest April on record & this May was the warmest May on record.  Talk about flipping the switch.

lol what?

Many of us live/lived in Buffalo. If its one thing people from Buffalo care about the most its their city being ranked high, which sadly because of corrupt politicians and a general lack of waterfront development its not. I love Buffalo, I will move back eventually because my family and friends are there, but lets not pretend its something its not.

Buffalo has a long way to go and need more than just Pegula to invest downtown.

Maybe. Or they've ventured outside the WNY bubble and seen something better.

If my family and friends weren't still in Buffalo, I would never look back.

Pegula needs some help to transform that waterfront, and i'm not talking NFL stadium.

I turned the page on Buffalo & Rochester 7 years ago.

While trips to WNY are heavy in nostalgia (Barbill beef on weck!), after about a week, I remember why I left that place.

Canalside and Harbor Center are nice, but come on now, I know WNYers are not simpletons.

We are talking about a blip on the radar. Is that all it takes for a city to "turn around"? Get out of here.

Baltimore (imo) is pretty horrible as well I dare say. I was down there for a concert near the Harbor. When the concert ended it was an adventure.

I live in North Baltimore County, and sad to say I tend to stay away from the city if I can help it. Canton/Fells Point is about the only places I will hit.

Baltimore is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. I'm happy to hear the less appreciative steer clear. makes my trips more enjoyable, and reminds me why I'll always live in a city. flight from fright. it's the same mindset I encountered back in Buffalo...

kind of a sad way to live.

If there is one thing I’ve found to be almost universally true after living elsewhere for 24 years and after growing up there my first 18, it’s that most poeple that grew up and still live there think it’s the epicenter of the universe and the greatest city, with the best people and greatest restaurants and CoL on the planet.

I grew up that way, was surrounded by it an even believed it until I lived up and down the east coast and abroad.  From the outside it’s a nice small town feeling city with loads of challenges in economics, workforce, local government, weather, etc. Education is good, but not as great as you hear.

I think folks should generally feel very fortunate there are pro sports teams there.  I think it has a lot to do with the reputation of the city from the 50s when it was a top 20 city.  Now the metro area is about 50th. And the city is 81

Atlanta.

UGA Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR are well above the Falcons.

Sure there was great coverage with the Falcons in their Super Bowl run but if they aren't dominating, they're on the back burner.

But, does that make it a bad city to visit? I've come to think that the best cities to visit for games are those with good food, unique and interesting sites, and greet tailgates. Based on those criteria, Atlanta isn't really that bad

I think I misread the question.

Mercedes Benz dome is pretty fantastic.  I went to the Bills Falcons game last year and it looked half empty.  Found out later that the game was sold out and people were there....just not in the seats.  There's so much activity inside the stadium that it does take away from the people watching the actual game.  I went to the bathroom and saw a restaurant packed.

People were watching the game on TV and not from their seats.

I really don't understand why anyone would ever go to the football stadium to watch a football game and then sit in a restaurant and watch it on TV at the stadium. People are really strange.

I have had to work in every NFL city-not related to anything sports- and I did not enjoy Seattle at all. I generally look for sport bars with people that root for the local team and have some clue of events in sports otherwise, Seattle did not have either. Each night I tried someplace new for a month and never found one. When I see someone ripping Jax I am surprised because they have a nice beach and lots of sports bars and friendly people.  But I think everyone would love New Orleans.

I think you are onto something in terms of the sports bars in that city. The sports bars in Bellingham are more populous and more informed than those in Seattle itself. But, when it comes to food, activities, sites and great neighbourhoods to walk, Seattle really is a great city. It's the one that I've been to the most games in aside from Buffalo, so I may be a little bit biased.

They rebuilt the stadium in KC and it looks fantastic. At least the feature I watched on TV a few years back. I have never been there.

Yeah the stadium was awesome.  Great fans, fun gameday atmosphere.  For a football trip Kansas City is a must...as far as the city itself I found it to be boring.  The bar scene was pretty weak, not a ton of sightseeing stuff to do etc.

As close as I am, I've never been to KC. But I see it the same way as you...I hope to see a game there in the near future for their attractive game day experience. I've said that for years but can never pony up and find a traveling partner willing to pony up for NFL ticket prices. Other than their BBQ reputation, I have no incentive to visit if not for foolsball. OK has just as good BBQ as anyone, so...boo to KC.

Oh yeah definitely don't let my other post steer you from going to a Chiefs game...it is absolutely a fun football trip.  The BBQ joints are delicious and were fun places to hang as there were lots of other Bills fans there too.  The tailgating was great and the stadium is beautiful(I'm much more a fan of the traditional stadiums than the new ones being built these days). So for those things KC ranks very high on my list but as far as stuff to do in the city and nightlife KC ranks right at the bottom out of the away games I've done but I am one of those guys who can have fun anywhere I go so I certainly don't want it to seem like I am complaining about the time I had when I was there.

Well if anyone ever wants to come to New Orleans I’ll be happy to put together an itinerary. It can range from degenerate to total degenerate and I’ll only charge a couple hundred. After my brother’s bachelor party my friends and I are entertaining the thought of starting a niche travel agency. Basically for  a few hundred bucks we will plan out your weekend with a money back guarantee (that doesn’t apply if you are pissed that you got robbed in the French Quarter).

I was heading to an Atlanta MLS game a few weeks ago and put Mercedes Benz Dome into Uber. They wanted to take me to New Orleans, and it would have been pricey! Kirby would have been worth the $200 moderate degenerate tour, but I went for Mercedes Benz stadium and stuck to soccer. I really thought it was the MB Dome, and now I’m not sure.

While I generally agree with this, there was a Bills game in Jax maybe 10 years ago that was the most miserable sporting event I have ever attended. Even Marcus Stroud, a Bill fresh from years in Jax, said it was the hottest %#@$&*%$ game he’s ever played in. They were rotating OLine. We had expensive seats, and realized at one point were were the only people left in our row. BLISTERING hot, and I lived in FL at the time. We eventually joined everyone else hiding in the shade and AC afforded by the club section and watched on TV. BRUTAL!
