That’s a fantastic idea.  Put all of our posters with their anonymous “sources” in our own TMZ section.

Personally I lost interest in anything don has to say. If it's truthful I think it's crappy he cost his friend his job by leaking info (if that's the case) but then I'd also question how one source has information about the stadium and personnel decisions. Unless that person is/was pretty high up, I have to question how one person would have access to all of that info . Also, I think it's nonsense to post something you really have no right to post or share.

I'm off my soapbox now.

They might leak it if they already knew they were being pushed out he door at the end of the season.

I had previously heard two of the things hes predicted through someone I trust, almost exactly the way he stated them. I'm not going to say I totally trust him, and maybe he just had two lucky guesses, but there's been enough reverb to keep my attention.

I think he said his source was fired last year and still has connections at OBD. Not that he was fired for leaking things. The Bills are probably trying to figure out who his source is talking to now.

I don’t know what happened to Leroi. But OBD has been Fort Knox since they cleaned house. They brought back a few scouts after initially firing them, but reporters aren’t getting any scoops. Anyone who is knows someone willing to provide this info likely at the cost of their job

I appreciate insider info but in this case none of the info outside of the stadium stuff is earth shattering, or couldn’t be concluded from following the team. If the Glenn trade was nixed by McD it wouldn’t have been on the same day they traded for KB. Seattle has already traded for Duane Brown the day before. But everyone knew the Bills had trade talks with Seattle about Glenn prior to that, and the Bills decided not to do it. That was reported in the media. He wasn’t healthy then and he still isn’t. Doubt he would have passed their physical so it’s a moot point.

The Peterman and joe Webb stuff is what I assumed to be the case anyway. NP got leveled in the head very hard and Webb has had special packages for two weeks.

Again I appreciate insider info but this isn’t too lock and key imo. Posting info about trying to trade a 3rd and 7th to KC for an offensive player is something that, if you are a fan of the Bills, you will want kept off a public message board if true as it undermines the FO.

Do you really think they are not thinking about the new stadium?  He is a billionaire and it did not happen overnight. The big issue was state money, we won’t get any but the location has given him a 10 year tax free deal to build.  Do the math.  He is looking for investors and even explored a Green Bay option of selling shares to community.  I believed that has been ruled out.  My source asked me if I would buy shares and said heck yes.

Don,

If any municipality or State Entity has given a tax free deal to anyone it would, by law, have to be made public.

Also, it’s very doubtful any politician involved with dealings or Government officials would not have inadvertently leaked this by now.

You hooked me into searching property sales in eastern Erie County and all of Monroe County. There are no abnormal property sales in any region, according to someone that looked for me that is a realtor.

There was wind of one of Pegula companies looking for properties with Gas rights though, just not anywhere near Alabama.

He hasn’t found any purchases.

The NFL precludes any team from selling shares to the public, either for team or land. Green Bay has been grandfathered in. Pegula would know that and would never had thought of selling shares.

Just come out and tell us where this supposed open air stadium that would generate revenue year round for parking will be.

I just can’t see anyone going to a stadium in the sticks in the middle of winter to see anything besides football.

Question for you.

How would your parking area generate income year round?

Pegula has been buying up Perry street property like candy ....   Between Pegula Entertainment + the city.   They almost own the entire space between the arena and the casino.

Also.  the HSBC building in front of the arena,  is up for sale + parking lots around it.   HSBC is trying to get rid of that place.  I have heard that building is falling apart and poorly maintained.   HSBC wants to move the jobs there to the suburbs and sell.

Also, Pegula is investing in a building right in that area too for the Labbott Blue Brewery, offices, and residential.      THEN add in the hofbrauhaus  or what ever its called near the Creamery.     WHY the heck would a pretty well know german beer chain go from building on canalside (which they didnt want to pay the utilizes for) to building in the middle of no where city wise with nothing else around it?

ALL signs point to downtown.    Not Batavia.

If Pegula wants and open air stadium and Buffalo wants a dome .... simply build a retractable roof stadium for year around usage.    Bills games the roof can be open for all games with the exception of Thunderstorms and Buffalo can use the stadium year around for concerts,  motocross, high school football, college football (maybe UB), and many more events.

https://www.google.com/search?q=florida+marlins+stadium&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjP_8aKgIrYAhVLQCYKHdKtA78Q_AUICygC&biw=1366&bih=637#imgrc=W6EW6GPg02z8xM:

Marlins stadium is a good example of a retractable roof stadium that works for Buffalo.      The roof is completely off the field / stadium and you still get an outdoor feeling.    Open up both endzones with glass with some seats like cowboys stadium to get the wind factor.      BOOOOOOM  problem solved.     It can snow and be cold and yet close that stadium up for other events.

Pegulas are changing the downtown area big time. It would take a lot of acres to cover stadium, parking and roads, unless they decide to forego tailgating and do little surface parking, which I highly doubt. The stadium would probably use up about 15-20 acres, then add in parking and other entertainment Pegula will likely build with it.

I would guess there’s plenty of space to do that.

I agree with downtown more so than Alabama or Batavia or anywhere outside of the metro area. It will likely be retractable for the reasons you have stated.

Go down to Key Bank Center, and start heading south down Ohio St. along the water.

The whole area quickly turns to abandoned ghost town pretty quickly, and is bordered by the current arena, the Buffalo River, and the NYS Thruway.

Call it "Hellhole Triangle".

That is where the stadium should be and probably will go.  That type of zoning is very similar to where they put Nationals Stadium in DC for the same reason: large amounts of land available on the cheap and easily purchased.

Pegula could buy that entire chunk of real estate for nothing and truly convert it into his Pegulaville.

On a side note: this dude lucks out and finds his way from nothing to $3 billion and change...what does he do with it?  Buy 2 sports teams in Buffalo, NY and turns into a small time real estate developer...in Buffalo, NY.

I guess buying a small Greek Island for himself and parking a 180' yacht there while shagging hot chicks and building his collection of 1950s and 1960s Ferraris seemed like a bad idea.

One thing he told us: "increased role" for Webb includes a pass play.  So while that would hardly be earth shattering (sooner or later your wildcat QB is gonna have to throw a pass if you have any hope of that QB draw ever working again), I flagged that prediction as the only "verifiable" one in the near term.  I said "near term." Now if in 2022 I'm doing my Christmas shopping at the Batavia West Sportsplex ...

That is exactly where I think the new stadium will go.

Louisiana St/Ohio St/South Park Ave triangle.

There is nothing in there but a few cheap businesses that could easily relocate.

Yep.  I was just "driving" around that entire area on Google Maps with the "street view" or whatever they call it.

Wow.  Some of the nastiest real estate you will find.  Some housing, some businesses, lots of empty space, parking lots, lots where trucks are parked...

You could buy the whole thing for nothing.

Over time, small businesses will flock to that area and the whole area will be transformed.

There was a huge amount of "nothing" around Nationals Stadium in DC for their first few years.  That area is totally transformed now with "stuff" all around.

It would help if we were building a baseball stadium (games all the time in a long season) instead of a football stadium (busy 8 times a year) but what the hell.  Take what you can get.

He seems a bit of an odd duck though.

When he cried about purchasing the team ? I was sold.
One of the few Do- Gooders left from the old school.

excellent points you have made btw. Thanks for the detail. Lets hope it come to fruition and his vision of a renewed Buffalo carries forward !

I am a Fairport resident? Snuggled just east or Rochester NY. But i sincerely approve of Pegula et al , having a vision to improve the City. And even better ? executing.

I was back in Buffalo in late summer and drove around it with my 2 brothers............they both were like "We never knew this area was here"!

Here is a link to play with.  Just drag the stadium into that spot.

I think a Paladino-controlled LLC recently bought a couple of properties in that area.  Maybe on Chicago St. by Conway Park. Which itself happens to be near a train line (probably a CSX line from what little I know about that stuff, but still.). And which also happens to be the perfect area for a downtown stadium.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Carl Paladino, CEO of Ellicott Development, and his business partner Victor Liberatori bought 201 Ganson Street Wednesday.

Auctioneer Cash Cunningham from Cash Realty and Auctions sold the riverfront property for $2.17 million. The 13-acre property is right near RiverWorks and sits on over a quarter mile of Buffalo River.

"We're very hopeful for things like a new stadium and that to come down here and generally into this area and I think all that will bring this area into life,” said Paladino.

Ellicott Development owns Ohio Street property on the riverfront as well. Plans for that property include office and residential use.

Paladino says the Ganson property will be reserved for commercial and industrial use.

Good call.

Here is an aerial view of New Orleans; "hockey" arena next to a football stadium.

Gives a sense of scale.  Our new football stadium would be bigger than old Superdome, but gives you an idea of how a football stadium would fit in my "Hellhole Triangle" referenced above.

I've been to New Orleans, not for a football game, but I can only imagine the traffic and lack of tailgating a stadium like this in Buffalo would create.

The 2 stadiums are right on top of each other in NOLA.

No need for it to be like that in Buffalo; there is a lot of room over in that triangle, and it could include some attempt at parking as well.

However, a new football stadium in this area in Buffalo would definitely alter the nature of tailgating.  Fans have to adapt and adjust, and I'm sure they will.  It won't be quite the same, but then again, what in the hell is special about standing around in a giant parking lot in the middle of nowhere in Orchard Park?

We can do better than that!

EDIT: And it it eliminates a certain breed of fan who is ONLY at the game to get ****-faced drunk prior to kickoff in a giant outdoor party, well, I don't see that as a bad thing.

I guess they could fire the person spreading the information but I don’t think a cease and desist is going to accomplish anything though.

It depends whether the person disseminating the information has a "muzzle" clause in his or her contract for employment.

At least as interesting as the information (football stuff seems plausible; stadium stuff seems bogus) is the identity of the disgruntled leaker.  "Fired" could be a lot of people - Berchtold, Whaley (who still may have contacts in the building), etc.  Maybe it's someone whose termination hasn't been publicized.  Maybe someone like Jim Overdorf or Russ feels marginalized.  I initially thought it might be Jim Kelly or a buddy, but the hunting thing smells like a little intentional misinformation.  Either way, the whole Dunkirk Dan thing has been good entertainment.  We'll see whether any of the information proves to be true.
