Where there is smoke … oh wait that was just Beane coming back from the dispensary.

I’m with many here - if they like him, ok in the 2nd, but still not what I would do.  I just don’t see him as a receiver worth even a late 1st.  I don’t think adding Coleman gets the Bills any more wins than they would get without him.

I’d go a bit higher than “situational pieces”.  I think there are several more who have potential to be solid or better starters.

Let's revisit the games last year that the Bills lost because of dropped passes at crucial times or not being on same page as QB.

I'm just excited to see who we get, the way things are schemed under Brady and how Josh performs this year.  Many have put the Bills superbowl hopes in a coffin and buried it, but I think we are going to actually surprise folks this year.

It seems that way but we still have the forth or fifth best odds to win the Super Bowl depending on the Sportsbook.  I'm not sure if you can surprise people at those odds.

I agree with Vegas, but the media and "experts" have us dead and buried.  Now the Texans are much better than us according to them.

All we need to do is remember 1.  KC in the divisional round.

Haven't the Bills took a few 1st rders they didn't have much contact with in previous years under BBB?

Pretty sure there was a couple

Kincaid.  I think it was just combine and zoom interview.

only one really was Kincaid last year. They had a late zoom meeting with him. My head  canon is they didn’t expect him to be available at first until hearing he may slide to their range and so did that zoom with him at the last minute

I think teams knowing the Bills need a WR might make the Bills need to be erratic and trade up just to catch people off guard.  Right now, the Bills have a bright neon sign over them that screams "drafting a receiver"

When reviewing tape, I look at how a player separates off the line and how they catch the ball with their hands.  I also only really watch highlights against ranked team.  In college, getting open or catching a deep ball means nothing to me.  That receiver could be playing against a nobody.

Agreed. Which is a huge reason I really hope it isn’t Coleman. He can’t separate vs college guys how is he going to do it in the pros?

Also what has Beane said in the past about the combine? It doesn’t matter to him as much as film does which is why Franklin is still likely high up on their list .

Yeah, his pal was fumbling around at the back of the draft party room sorting through stacks of hats trying to find the Bills' cap. No one really expected it.

Gonna be in Buffalo on Monday. Was the CFLs most outstanding rookie last year. Never played college ball but had a great year in the CFL and a good week of practice at the Shrine Bowl.

Interesting that he’s played for 2 leagues, yet isn’t seen as an UFA, free to sign with anyone. What’s the difference between his situation and someone like Cam Wake?

Wake entered the NFL draft (or at least signed with an NFL team) before ending up in the CFL, so no need to enter the draft again.

Stiggers never went through the draft process and I believe is one year away from being able to enter the league as a free agent. Not 100% positive on that though.

Cam Wake went undrafted out of college in 2005 before playing in the CFL.

Stiggers just became draft eligible (3 years out of HS).

Devonshire is a CB, no?

Devonshire is a county in the UK known for its dairy products. Hard pass.

Interesting that in this topic, no one has broached trading one of next year's 2nd rounders for a 3rd rounder this year.

I think the Bills will do well to stand pat at #28 but I'm pretty sure everyone will regret not having a 3rd rounder this year... thus trading one of next year's 2nd rounders.

Assuming a 3rd rounder this year nets us a starter, I think it's more important to have that pick this year than next year because of the Josh Allen Window.

Well, that is a real consideration. My main interest at the top of the draft is WR. For me, a second is probably involved in a big trade up or staying at #28 and moving up from #60 to the early second to double dip at receiver. If the right players are there, i would do it. I like the big 3 and Thomas as trade up in the first candidates. Mitchell and McConkey are next on my list.

We don't need a double dip. We need to have one good WR then focus on defense.  If we can't get to Burrow or Mahomes and cover on the back end,it won't matter.   Take another guy in the 4th or 5th to bring to camp.

If I can get Mitchell and McConkey, I'm going to do it. If they trade up for one of the top 3, then that will be it for an early WR. I understand that folks have other strategies. That's mine.

I agree that a pass rusher is of the utmost importance, I just don’t see how you get one in this draft if they go WR in the first.  Once you get past Dallas Turner, Jared Verse, Latu and Chop Robinson the pickings are pretty slim for a true DE (there are some 3-4 OLBs, but they don’t help Buffalo).  By pick 60, your looking at Austin Booker, Braden Trice and Adisa Isaac - Booker and Isaac have some pass rush potential, but probably need to add considerable muscle before being ready to contribute.  I can imagine them liking Trice with his high-effort approach, but it’s possible all 3 of them are gone by 60 as well.

Do you think he falls outside of round one because of medical concerns?

Potentially, he does. Or at least into the very back end of the 1st round. Some teams won't even consider him. Jaelen Philips is a fascinating comp. Went early-ish in 1st and hasn't been healthy enough to justify the investment (despite obvious flashes when he HAS been healthy).

Yes I think its a very fair possibility. I had him at 26 in my first mock for that very reason going to Tampa. It would not surprise me if both Chop Robinson and Darius Robinson go in front of him but I do think a contender such as Buffalo or Baltimore could take a shot at him late in round 1 for sure.

The latest whispers I think are that there are enough teams late in round 1 who are willing to take the shot (including Tampa). If he got to #28 I'd pick him. I'm not sure the Bills will though.

It's third on my list of priorities (WR, DB then EDGE) but in the mental tiers I'm constructing, Latu would fall firmly into "exceptional talent that you don't pass up if you get a sniff of"

For the record, so far those tiers are:

"Not gonna happen unless Beane bets the farm"

"Go up and get him"

"Exceptional talent that you don't pass up if you get a sniff of"

"Nice bit of value if you stand pat, wouldn't mind an overreach"

"Would be fine with at 28, would love in the mid-30s"

"Move up in the second if you can" and

"Hit those scouting reports, we're going value hunting"

I would target the Steelers at 20. I'm trading a 2025 2nd (likely from Minn.) to...

swap 28 for 20

swap 60 for 51

receive pick 84

If BT is there, great, if he's gone take Latu. No way he gets to 28.

BTJR at 20  Sweat at 51 or Latu and move up in the 2nd for WR

This sounds like a haul for the Bills. You sure a 2025 2nd will get us to move up 8 in the first, 9 in the 2nd, and a third rounder?

I can't think of many scenarios where I'd be OK with the Bills taking an EDGE in Round 1.

They draft an all pro pass rusher? Maybe I missed something and we have 2 good edge players.

I mean on draft night until whenever haha, of course I'd be good with that in a few years!!

We've used high picks on Rousseau, AJ and Basham.

Rousseau is pretty good and AJ is coming on strong.....but neither is anywhere near All Pro

Using another high pick on the DL is just not what this team needs

I don't mind the pick at 28,  but if they trade up for a guy with those medical red flags,  the board might well be justified for that reaction.

Who cares, it’s a need. They’ve missed, doesn’t mean you stop drafting them. You don’t pass on a good player because you missed on the position in the past. Such a weird draft strategy people have on here.

We lack edge players and WRs. Tough position to be in.

I just don't see a place for DL (particularly DE) to make a major contribution this year.   Realistically,  a late 1st probably isn't going to beat out the established veterans at those spots,  so you're drafting depth for this year.   IMO,  they'd be better off drafting two or three of them early on day 3,  fill the depth need,  and re-evaluate after the season.  I think 2025 is supposed to be a better DL draft, anyway.
