Sebastian Joseph signed a three year contract with the Los Angeles Charges worth $24 million with $16.5 million guaranteed.

Chargers have apparently determined he is not part of team next year and if someone picks up contract it relieves them of burden.

Been playing in their 3-4 not sure if he’s a fit here.

But down to Oliver Settle Joseph and Practice squad guys till Jones is back has to be looked as an option?

Probably going to 49ers who are a mess up the middle right now with their injuries.

Would've been a great pickup before they signed Linval.   Now with Jones coming back they would just have too many DT’s especially considering Phillips injury doesn’t seem to be long term

Issue is not signing him assuming you have the space but assuming the contract guarantees.

Likely teams will contact him and determine if he is a match and when he clears waives will offer to sign him at a lower contract.

Agent may want a contract only for a year so he can re-enter free agency and will tell teams he is already going to get paid this year so only if being on team advances his career.

Is being waived the same as being cut? And if so is his former contract no longer active? And he is in effect a FA? Enlighten me because I don’t know how the tangled world of contracts works thanks in advance 👍

Waived means he has to go through the waiver process. If somebody claims him off waivers, they pay the remainder of his current salary. If he's not claimed, he becomes a FA & can sign for any amount offered.

Wondering if this would be kind of messed up in that being right before the weekend he's not going to get signed to a team before this weeks games instead if it had been at the start of the week. Not sure how that works with game checks and what not with what they owe him still until he gets resigned.

I'm almost sure the waiver rules apply even if a player is waived on a Friday.  Teams will have to claim him in 24 hours regardless is they are playing

a game on Saturday or not.  If you claim him, you pay him would seem to be the rule.

Having him waived when they did, seems to give Joseph the best chance to make it through to free agency.

At least that's how I see it.

He's having his best year in terms of getting after the QB.   I think he'd be a great pickup.

Why would they just cut the guy? There must be an issue about something?

Their season is done, and they need to clean a bunch of cap for next year.

Currently they are $45M over the cap for next season and they don't think he fits the rebuild.

This is nuts.

The Chargers are without their NFL best WR, their stud DL, and their franchse QB.  Now, they cut a standout DL!??

They've tanked the season without admitting to the same.  They're playing for draft picks.

That locker room has to be ready to explode in frustration over a team loaded with talent, throwing away the season.

What will it take for Chargers to make playoffs if they are throwing away the season?

They do not believe they have a QB which can make a difference right now.

interesting he had the most sacks and qb hits of career this year , after signing that contract. New administration making moves. They're going to be fired up for sure but with no Herbert or Keenan , that O should get dominated
