It's older than QBR, and nobody explains what QBR is, either. Others have given you an explanation, and if you follow the link, you can learn more. Warning: it's complicated. Essentially what they do is compare every teams at every position against every other team at every position, including comparisons for down and distance, and try to figure out which teams are best. Who passes best, second best, etc. Who's best on third and short and who isn't. At this time of year, they're still using a lot of last season's data, so the numbers aren't great. But once we get to November, it's all current season data, and it really seems to be pretty accurate. In other words, the best teams come out on top of the rankings. There are rankings for offense, defense, special teams, oline, dline, passing, running. Having the sixth best DVOA since they started doing this is pretty heady stuff. billsfan89 Posted October 3, 2023 Share Posted October 3, 2023 DVOA has always loved the Bills. They win by 2-4 possessions frequently and only lose regular season games by one possession. Since 2020 the Bills have only lost 3 games by more than one score. 2021 against the Colts 41-15 in November 2021 and 2020 they lost to KC by 9 points and the Titans 42-16. Outside of those three losses their other 10 regular season losses from 2020-2023 have all been by one possession margins or less. They have also had 29 victories by 9 or more points. Success Posted October 4, 2023 Share Posted October 4, 2023 I can't believe how good our team is. Yeah, we had the longest playoff drought - but the payoff is awesome. Really, all that's left is to close the deal, finally. This feels like the team to do that, but it's such a long season. I can only hope we're playing this well & are relatively healthy in January.
