2023 PFF Game Simulator --- Have fun at it

Recommended Posts

So PFF has a game simulator where you pick a team and it shows their projected results for the season along with stats ... https://game-simulator.pff.com/ .  so as bored as I was I decided to run the simulator 50x and get the average results.

NYJ   26-24

LV     30-20

WAS  40-10

MIA   36-14

JAX    28-22

NYG    26-24

NE      26-24

TB      37-13

CIN     30-20

DEN    30-20

NYJ    32-18

PHI    25-25

KC      20-30

DAL   31-19

LAC   30-20

NE      34-16

MIA    34-16

Season Average W-L:    10.3 - 6.7   so 10-7.

Josh's season average stats:

PASS YDS    PASS TDS     INTS    RUSH YDS    RUSH TDS
4855.76         34.46            11         273.22           2.84

While the 10-7 seems to me to be on the low end IMO it's interesting that on average with the PFF app that the Bills are .500 or better for every team except KC.  But take it for a grain of salt because according to them for the 50x we play @NE we only had a 26-24 record so barely above .500.  worst season record was 7-10 and best was 15-2.

its completely random backed by pff grades my but. I did 10 sims. 3 of them were years Buffalo does not make it to the playoffs.  I respect PFF's work but that is silly.

And the fact that you can not adjust lineup or pff grades tells me how bad this betta ai machine is.

11-6

We shutout charges 36-0

Allen PassTds/Int 36/5

Loss to Vegas, NE, Phi, KC, NYG and Dal

Allen doing All Pro numbers like 36/5 would most likely result in more than 11 wins.  I could see losses vs Phi and KC, but not all of the others maybe 2 of 4 for 13-4.

That's every season

Additionally, the schedule might not be as tough as it appears. We have no idea how good teams will be this year, simply based on last season. The only guarantees are teams with elite QB’s like Allen, Mahomes, and Burrow. Other teams are capable of a decline at any point. I’m not sure why the Patriots or Dolphins are considered great teams, we don’t know if Rodgers still has it, and Daniel Jones with NY isn’t a guy I trust. There’s a few overrated teams on this schedule, and if we can’t beat them, we aren’t very good anyway.

I don’t understand how this is supposed to be fun. Maybe when there are some other features added it’ll be interesting.

Fun is relatively speaking. I just get a hoot outta it with it's projections and stats.  Most of the time I ran it James Cook ends up with at least 13 totals TDS and 1400 total yds.  I like the concept but it's default algorithms are poor and the capabilities to not adjust lineups sucks.

Yeah, I ran it twice with Cleveland.  Once Chubb had 1500 yards.  The next time he has 2200 yards rushing and 850 yards receiving.  Lead the team in receptions too.

Ran it once and only once. Bills went 15-2. Started out 12-0. Lost to the Chiefs by two points, and then the Cowboys by three points.

James Cook had an eye-popping 2080 total yards. 1515 rushing yards on 306 attempts, and 45 receptions for 565. 14 total touchdowns.

Damien Harris also had 123 rushing attempts, with 1060 total rushing + receiving yards.

Allen only had 210 yards rushing.

I just did it. 14-3.  It has a road loss to Washington (LOL) and then 11 straight wins before losing two out of the last three, at San Diego and at Miami.

That actually sounds like our season right there. Trap game, some domination, and stumbling toward the end.

I ran this simulator once. It had me 'losing' to KC with a score of 31 to 31. Then, had us beating the Jets 15-2. Part of me respects this tool for having the guts to predict a safety as the only score, but the other part of me just thinks this is hot garbage. One sim is enough for me!

Maybe the simulator didn't wait for last 13 seconds?

I ran it a few times.  A couple seasons at 9-8.  One at 11-6, another like 6-11

I found a lot of games were flipped.  Lost vs the giants, Tampa, @jets every time, but absolutely hammered the Bengals and eagles.  Lots of wins late in the season, but lost the Miami game every time to close the year

The only consistency I noted were a tremendous number of Cook rush yards, a lot of Allen passing yard but very few Allen rushing yards

I’m not saying Cook can’t have a good season, but I’m super confident he won’t have over 1,000 rushing yards, yet the sim often gives him over 1,500.
