Somewhat accurate heading into the playoffs, but teams may want to be afraid of Gabe Davis.

He absolutely dominated out there on Sunday.  If Allen hits him on the deep balls Davis had a step on, we're potentially looking at close to 200 yards receiving.

Honestly, I think Shakir is stepping up too.  He had a key catch and also that one that he almost caught that needed review was another that would have burned Miami badly. Then he had 2 more catches

Shakir in space could be dangerous...he has some wiggle that none of the other Bills WR's have.

I get what you are saying especially the last paragraph.

However, if you look at my multiple posts I am predicting a Bills win by a field goal. I have stated that I think I the Bills offense will score a lot vs the Bengals defense.

Yep, I seen that. Its like you try to talk yourself out of the Bills having any chance of winning though by everything else you say.

I expect a close game.  Thats what happens when two great teams play.  One doesnt usually blow out the other.

1) a corner blitz on a 3rd and long. Johnson on the edge when they line up in a close split end slot. Show cover 3 with zone middle covered by Johnson on the slot. Switch to cover 2, Marlowe bashing the mid field and anyone crossing while Johnson tears up the outside edge to get a sack on statue borrows.

I dunno where the Burrows lack of respect comes from, but it should be noted that while he's not a major contributor to the Bengals running game, he's far from a statue.

He has 5 rushing TDs this year

He mostly runs to extend plays, but just when the D mistakes him for a guy who takes the LOS for the Berlin wall, he will scamper across it for a first down.  I can't quickly turn up the data on 1Ds, but his 5 runs vs. KC in the AFCCG last year contributed to their win and his willingness to run contributed to their W against KC this year as well.

The Bills have to contain him on 3D if they can't get him down.

99% agree with Simms here. Diggs is scary and Davis can be from a long ball standpoint. But we definitely lack in the weapons department. I’d say from a total weapons standpoint, the 49ers, Bengals, eagles and maybe the chiefs all have better weapons than we have. Niners are the best with unlimited YAC monsters, and bengals and eagles have better receivers overall. The sooner we all realize this team is really just josh and Diggs, the sooner we can all accept some of these truths. I just want Beane to realize it too so he can start to properly address it., plus the O line which is awful too

The weird analysis and mainstream breakdown of the Bills is just so aggravating.

Yea.. I think many of us have been down on the WR's all season, and with good reason.. but I've come around after Sunday's performance.

Diggs and "Playoff Gabe" is as good of a duo as there is in the Playoffs.

It seemed like Allen & Beasley were a tick off until that TD throw.. then followed up with a great hesitation route in the middle of the field that Cole turned up for huge YAC.  Add in Shakir and potentially getting McKenzie back, and they have some really solid options to rotate in at Slot Receiver.

Knox is an above average Tight End.

I'm really good with what we've got in place to make a run.  Doesn't mean we shouldn't ABSOLUTELY draft a WR in the first two rounds next year, but for this post-season, I like where we're at.

4th and 18..  Nuff said on Minny...

Qb sneak fumble for a TD with 30 secs left.  Teams complete 18 yard plays all the time.  How many times have you seen a team fumble a qb sneak @ their own 1 to give up the lead with 30 seconds left?

You wonder what new excuses he and Nick Wright will invent if Josh has stellar games the next 3 games.

Nick wright is at least predictable haha I just don’t understand Simms anymore.  A game where Miami tried to single cover a lot of the bills receivers and it went pretty terribly and he comes out and says ‘see I told you they weren’t scared’ 🤣

Davis is like Claude Lemieux in the NHL or "Big Shot Bob" Robert Horry in the NBA.

Regular season might not be anything more than an average player, but once the playoffs start, they put on a Superman Cape and raise their game tremendously.

The playoffs are a whole new beast.  I've read this thread this week and I hear all the stats of the season being thrown around and

personally, I don't put much stock in it.  It's one-game seasons every week now.

This current Bills organization/team has been to the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years.  This team knew it would make the playoffs this

year and that it would likely be because they would be the AFCE Division Champions.  This week's game is nothing new for them.

Everyone at OBD knows what it takes to win and how quickly a loss can send them home.  I'm confident that a large number of players

will step it up and push themselves Sunday to get the prize they all want.  Gabe's play last Sunday has to be an inspiration to the team.

He played the way needed to do what it takes to win.

The one regret that I think everyone has, is that Von Miller is not playing.  While that is unfortunate, every team has similar challenges.

We've waited all year for this game and so have the players!

Go Bills.

Allen has a Top 5 NFL WR on his team.

5/32 best WRs in the league, we have one.

You're not saying anything Chris. We all know Gabe looks like a limited route runner, better in beating man coverage one on one with go-routes, although he does run a good comeback route.

To some degree I agree with Simms. The Chiefs have JuJu-Smith Schuster and Kadarius Toney both 1st Round talents, Hardman (may or may not play is a 2nd Round pick), Skyy Moore (2nd Round), MVS - 5th Round pick.

The Bengals have three first rounders - Chase, Higgins, Hurst, 2nd Rounder in Boyd.

So the Bills are out there with Diggs, but after that it is 4th Rounder in Davis, 4th Rounder in Knox, 5th Rounder in Shakir, and so forth. As we've said the Bills need another 1st Round WR talent on this team to push everyone down a peg.

I dont think Gabe is actually a limited route runner.  I just think its the way Dorsey is using him.  Gabes route tree is a lot different this year than last year.  Daboll put him in the slot as well as out last season.  Dorsey doesnt seem to use him like that much.  Maybe he is limited, I dont know but I dont think he is.  Look at this year from last year in one comparison...

route-chart_DAV329675_2022-REG-5_1665346 route-chart_DAV329675_2022-REG-16_167198

Thats two charts this year.  The first one is week 5 the second one is week 16

This next one is from the wildcard playoff game last week

route-chart_DAV329675_2022-POST-19_16738

This next one is from last year divisional playoffs. Kind of similar to last weeks game

route-chart_DAV329675_2021-POST-20_16429

Seems like Dorsey may be opening him up more for the playoffs.

Did it?  I could've sworn when the game was first set on Sunday it opened -2.5 but then quickly jumped for -4.5... maybe I'm wrong.

You answered it.  Mahomes has a Super Bowl.  Allen is more talented.. he's the most talented QB in the NFL.  Once he gets a Super Bowl, the narrative will reflect that.

Wynn Sportsbook opened at -4.5

Fanduel was at -4

So, i think i am somewhere in the middle where folks are on this board. I think the Bills can win this game, but we have all seen they try to hard to not win games in the last few weeks. Some points IMHO:

- Even with Cin offensive line hurt, wont matter. Dolphins were worse and the only way we got to him was to blitz.

- Josh is not the same Josh that started the season. Hurt? Head crap? Definitely not the same.

- Dorsey still does not impress me. (Yes i know, points and the rest yea yea) He moves away from things that work and forces stupid forced plays to work. (Not saying he is horrible)

- Our defensive backfield gets slashed pretty easy with the worst QB's.... Burrow is not one of them and they have incredible receivers!

- Have you ever seen a team that sucks so bad on screens?? They are an embarrassment at it.

I know i am being Debby downer, but Bill's play of late does not give me warm and fuzzys. Either way hoping for a win, but wont be surprised if they lose. Take Bengals and the points!

Dolphins offensive line was not worse than Cincy’s will be next week.  Connor Williams and Terron Armstead are both great players.  Cincy will not even have an average player on the OL if Cappa and Williams don’t go.

I don’t even know who they’d go with…carman, volson, Karras, sharping, adeniji?

thats 4 huge weak links and karras is mediocre at best.

Miami typically runs heavier sets than cincy will as well.

our secondary was great Sunday.

Why can't the Bills just embrace who Josh is instead of always trying to manage him.

McDermott again talking about fine lines.

How about get another #1 WR?

Improving the OLine?

So he has more space to operate, and more athletic players to go to.

The Bills drafted Gabe Davis - a go-route specialist - and they complain when Josh takes deep shots.

I'm aggravated with this coaching staff and media, always wondering how to limit and control Allen. Have the tough conversations with him, coach him, continuously improve his S&C.

But get another Diggs. You're reading Hopkins is available. That's the right idea, whether it's him or not.

It's an arms race and its corner, DE, DE, LB, DE, DT every year high in the draft.

The Bengals put up 234 yards of total offense against Baltimore and had 1 first down after they scored to take a 17-10 lead early in that half.  For all the "greatness" of Cincinnati on offense they sure don't play it like a lot of times.

Their next 3 drives were:

3 plays 8 yards

6 plays 13 yards

3 plays -1 yard

These are all valid points. I took the bengals -5 based upon this also. I don’t view the bengals banged up o line as a huge advantage for us without Von. Both the stats and my eyes tell me we can’t get after the qb with much consistency anymore so adding that to the fact that burrow has time to hit his trio of great receivers against our overmatched DBs, and it’s a recipe for a long night.

I’m way more confident in the 49ers -4 though. That line is an absolute joke and just free money. Niners are going to roll.

-We'll see.  Bengals have played us for about five seconds.  Miami sees us all the time.  Agreed though.. Bills DL needs to be better against another decimated OL.

-If he's still hurt, he has a funny way of showing it by putting on a laser show nonstop against Miami on Sunday.

-Ok.. We've lost 3 games.  Dorsey is fine.  Does he deserve criticism, sometimes.. but he's not losing us games.

-Tre has gotten better week to week and finally looks confident again.  Kaiir Elam is an X-Factor due to Jackson's injury finally forcing our most talented CB onto the field to show what he can do.

-Screen passes.. really?  I literally could not care less about the fact we don't run screens well.

Mahomes gets freebies every game due to scheming from Reid which Allen rarely gets.

That's the "party line", but I'm not sure it's correct.  Part of that is because of Allen's known tendencies, teams know they can choke down on the guys who are past the sticks and pay a cursory nod to the shallow guys.

For example, on the play where Josh threw to Beasley who was closely covered by 1 defender and had 2 others in the vicinity - on the opposite side of the field, Dawson Knox ran a route that effectively picked the defender off Diggs and left him totally open for a while before the defender who had him closed the gap.  Romo even commented during the broadcast that Allen has Diggs wide open on the opposite side of the field.

On the deep INT to Brown, I believe he was the only receiver on the field as the Bills put a heavy set on the field against what Miami showed as a cover 0 blitz.  But then when they dropped, the Bills two TE and Gilliam broke out into routes.  There were crossers at two levels by Morris and Knox, who was drawing the attention and leaving Morris wide open with a passing lane to him, as well as  Gilliam running up the sideline and carrying 2 defenders with him.

People here are "oh, Dorsey should give Allen checkdowns" "Dorsey should scheme guys open", usually when Allen throws a pick, there is an alternative open, Allen just doesn't choose to take it.

So hedging your bets here?

If the Bills win, well Dorsey isn't horrible. Bills lose, see told you.

Josh is not the same Josh, can you explain this? Or is this just based on some interceptions from Green Bay and the Jets and last week being aggressive in Miami.

He isn't the most even in terms of his production. I'll agree with that. It's not a robotic 300 yards like Herbert. Allen can be 350 or 150 some weeks. He is more Favre-like.

Are you thinking the Bengals have just been held down 2-weeks in a row by a divisional opponent?

I'm not sure why the Bills are so inept at them - on an early thread it was suggested that one reason they don't work well is because of how defenses play the run threat Josh presents.

YES.

This was WGRs rallying cry for weeks, until Kurt Warner showed that there are plenty of checkdowns available in this offense.

Kurt Warner also explained that Dorsey isn't in left field with some of these play designs. He runs things common to an NFL offense like mesh, or high-low combinations.

Now we're back to we don't checkdown enough.

Except the Bengals rarely do that all night. At some point in the game their offense goes dormant for long stretches.  Inexplicably but it almost always happens and has back to last season.

I can’t stress enough how different Baltimores defense is from ours and how much better suited to defend Cincinnati they are. It’s not the same. They can rush burrow with 4. They have Marcus Peter’s and Marlon Humphrey to cover Chase and Higgins and Hamilton in thr slot too for coverage. Not to mention Roquan smith in the middle. Remember this when chase is getting open constantly and Higgins is finding soft spots in Fraziers zones.

I do think we will give the bengals D some problems but fundamentally this is a bad matchup.

Greatly improves the board experience, 4 of 4 stars, highly recommend.
