RocCityRoller
I know this isn't considered Lake Effect snow, but crazy how the Lakes effect our weather. I am an hour east in the Rochester metro, 1 mile south of Lake Ontario and I might have no excuse for not cutting my lawn! It's bright and sunny and our inch or so of snow has melted! Big Turk
Lake Effect Snow Warning for Southern Erie County expiring at 1AM tomorrow morning but now another Lake Effect Snow Watch has been issued for 7pm Saturday to 1pm Sunday for an additional 9+ inches. So there actually MIGHT have been snow during the game unlike some were saying... Edited November 18, 2022 by Big Turk

Sounds like you are not too far from Webster.  I was living in Webster during the winter of 1998-1999.  On a single day in the winter (don't remember when) we got 24" of snow in 24 hours (in Webster, downtown Rochester, Henrietta, Pittsford, the whole metro area).  At that time, it was the single heaviest dropping of snow for a 24 hour period of time in history--for Rochester.     I live in SE FL.  If it makes everyone feel better, it is a cloudy day down here and a bit cold.  Only about 74 degrees out, and I decided to skip my daily walk at the beach.  We are all dealing with weather in our own ways.  😂

You were spot on regarding severity from the beginning.  So will this end up being worse than Snowvember? Or was that more snow just over a longer period of time?

Each day taken on it's own is a very do-able street cleanup. Â Maybe we've grown soft, or maybe this is a media ratings driven crisis that we'll all be laughing about Sunday afternoon while we bemoan loss of our home game to Detroit. A slight change in wind direction or it staying over an area for longer than expected can lead to wildly different amounts of snow.

There are times we get huge early snowfalls and then don't see much the rest of the season. It's unlikely tho.  Besides we need to defend our National Golden Snow Globe title. Eked out the win over Anchorage last year for our 2nd title in 3 years.   OP likely destroyed the all time NYS snowfall record for a 24 hour period of 50 inches set in Camden in 1966. Still unofficial, but they measured 59 inches in OP.  Edited November 19, 2022 by Big Turk

Big Turk
How are the people claiming we were only getting a foot or two earlier feeling right about now? 🤣  It was pretty obvious from the NWS way early watch issued, the very strong wording used in it and conditions that were expected to be very similar to 2014 this was not going to be some run of the mill storm. Big Turk
Think it's bad here?  A Buffalo sized city in Japan called Aomori City gets an average of 312 inches of snow a year due to "ocean effect" snow and the mountains creating more lift which then dumps it once it crosses them. To put this in perspective, it's about 3.5 times what Buffalo gets a year.  Another city there, Saporro, Japan has a population of over 2 million and gets 191 inches a year on average...about double what Buffalo does. Same reason, "ocean effect" snow...snow depth there last February was over 52 inches!  https://www.insider.com/photos-life-aomori-japan-the-snowiest-city-in-the-world-2018-12  Crazy to think as bad as it is here, it could be a lot worse.   26 minutes ago, T&C said: What?
