as mentioned before, for all the people who thinks this is no big deal, i wonder how you would react if you were shoved to the ground like that, or if someone you cared about was.  way too much love for an athlete here.

You’re saying we SHOULD be emotional about it.

This thread could be a case study on confirmation bias.

The first view looked like one thing, while the view from behind looked like something else. It almost seems like a different incident. I’m not going to try to change anyone’s mind, but in my opinion Adams was clearly wrong (as he has admitted and apologized for) but he camera guy messed up by inexplicably jumping out in front of him. He is not without some responsibility, IMO.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. They can both have some fault, and not necessarily in equal shares.  Camera guy should not have done that. Adams DEFINITELY should NOT have done that.

you don't need to be emotional.  just have common sense.  like adams failed to do.  that guy has a lot to lose, he made a bad decision, and now he has to deal with it.  just like you and i would have to if we shoved someone to the ground.  not to hard to understand if you're reasonable.

so...what would you do if this happened to you?

No he is not, just to accept that he assaulted the guy, and move forward accordingly,

“Facts”

any lawyer Adams hires will quickly turn this misdemeanor into a violation at worst. He could probably plead it to a violation himself with a simple call to the d.a., pay a fine and be done with it.

what's "a violation"?

It sounds like a bad thing in the workplace. I mean, from what others have told me……

EDIT: I have no idea what that means. Is there some “ticket level” of event? Like jaywalking?

P.S. - Has anyone explained why that guy jumped out? Adams had ZERO business shoving him like that, but WTF was camera guy thinking? I wish a clip would surface that starts earlier.

The guy could have been hurt pretty badly?

Yeah I guess any time you fall backwards you can get hurt.

But it is a known risk of being a field cameraman. How many times have you seen camerapersons on the sideline get hammered as a player went out of bounds.

Fwiw, I think a criminal case for this push is silly. Fine him 100K and call it a day.

There is a big difference between a player running into a camera man on the sideline because of momentum during a play and a player assaulting a camera man in the tunnel after the game.  Do you really not know the difference?

It already is a misdemeanor.  More facts for you.  The problem for him is the civil suit, the NFL suspension, and a misdemeanor assault can result in as much as 180 days in jail and he is 100% guilty of that crime.   Likely won't happen, but those are the facts.

actually

Adams is a self absorbed POS and deserves to he punished.  End of story.

Actually, from several reports I’ve heard he is regarded as a very nice guy. I heard there was no history of trouble or being a DBag. It was the wrong time, wrong place. I’d hope I’d know enough not to be on either end of that. I don’t care if it’s 97% to 3%, both share in what went down.

Hrrrm, something less than a misdemeanor in the hierarchy of offenses; violation, misdemeanor, felony.

basically a non-criminal offense that usually requires paying a fine, like a traffic ticket

morally sure.

but if talking injury risk, they are also worlds apart.

adams was a jerk, with very low real risk.

I don’t mean to be a jerk here, and I’ll catch it for this, but we had never even HEARD of a seatbelt growing up. Falling down is only a big deal if a big deal results.  This SHOULD be a non-event.

Never heard of workplace violence either,  but here we are.....

Adams made a bad decision.  Now he answers for it.  The guy that was pushed did absolutely nothing wrong.

If you have seen both angles you should realize that is simply not true. The guy went out in front of a player coming off the field after a rough loss. I’m still waiting for video that starts a couple seconds sooner, or from a different angle. WTF happened? WHY was he there in the first place?

Like the AJ Epenesa expulsion, don’t startle a worked up guy in his workplace.

Adams HAS admitted and is facing what is due. Camera guy needs to get real.

Plenty of other modern safety devices on cars as well, front airbags, side airbags etc.

but these have nothing to do with this incident

yes, a 225 lbs player bowling into you on the sidelines comes with high risk of injury. A plethora of different injuries. And relatively likely to be injured.

getting knocked down with a minor push could end in injury but that is relatively rare. By comparison to be bowled over at speed it would be incredibly rare.

We can admit he’s a jerk without the theatrics of how dangerous it was.

bingo.

Not every incident needs manufactured outrage. There’s no award for being the most morally pure and judgmental.

dude messed up in a split second. No one was hurt. He very quickly apologized. Certainly not ideal but…

Some are making it out like falling down is like skydiving without a parachute. That happened daily in the halls of middle school.

That does NOT make it right, but my wife fell down a flight of stairs a week before the first born was due. The human body generally does fine. It’s only a big deal if it doesn’t. The “threat” of harm is worth much less than “actual” harm. Both are bad, let’s just put them on the right place on the spectrum.

Guy I called uncle punched a guy in a bar fight who fell straight back cracked skull and died. Prison. People fall weird and die all the time. It’s a very common way to die

What theatrics?  I said there is a difference between an accident and assault.  Then you quoted me and talked about danger.  Danger doesnt matter.  One is assault and one is not.  That was my entire point.

“Very common” and “rare but does happen” are not the same thing. I’d argue you chose the wrong version.

His tweet apologizing was a slap in the face of the photographer by saying he “immediately” regretted it. If that were true he would have likely went and apologized to his face and maybe even offered him so good photog shots of him since that’s what the man was seeking in the first place. It also would have likely avoided the charges pressed against him.

Close the ice rinks!

It’s SO weird that I find myself defending this position! Life is dangerous. Adams was wrong, but maybe someone with an ounce of common sense doesn’t jump out in front of him in that situation. Stuff happens, but let’s not act like it was a disaster when it wasn’t.

I have a nephew who killed a guy driving drunk many years ago. I also have friends (and regrettably maybe myself in my youth) who also drove drunk. My nephew spent many years in prison, because the guy died. The rest of us got away with fender benders, or less. Little harm, little foul.

You can trip on a curb, hit your head and die. It happens. This was a shove in a bad situation.  Regrettable for both parties, IMO.

Lol. I know if I was a cameraman I’d rather have a light push like Adams gave than have a 250 lb DE run into me on the sidelines going full speed.

Just my opinion. You might rather get slammed by the DE.

He was taking pictures, like everyone else who was paid to do so.  He sees the player coming, he stands up to get out of the way and the player puts him on the ground forcefully.

This is a weird hill to die on, man...

He jumped IN FRONT of him! NOT out of the way. Watch the view from behind. He was the ONLY one to jump in a players path. Strange hill indeed.

EDIT: From what I keep hearing and reading, he’s not even there to take photos. He was just carrying gear. Again, the shove was wrong, but WTF was this guy trying to do?

Exactly. Was that his plan before jumping in front of Adams? Was this premeditated, or did it just morph into a payday scheme after he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time?

So you think he was sitting there in the path of exiting players....and then he just decided to jump up and block Adams's way?

I guess you are in so deep with this you would have to believe that, right?  But you have already said that if someone inadvertently crossed your path that you also would level him.  Most people would end that with "oops, pardon".

Kindred spirits you and Davante.   Hard men not to be trifled with .

A) I watched it. Both known views. He moved in front of him. It’s not what I think, it’s what I watched.

B) I never said I would level anyone. Get it right, for a change.  I said it’s unwise to startle someone, especially a professional athlete coming out of a heated moment. You never know what you might get. Pay attention. You don’t get to make up your own “facts”.

C) You are tiresome, and not nearly as sharp as you think you are. Have a nice day.
