I hope the NFL has a reasonable, consistent, and fair plan but they aren't exactly being transparent about their decision making process. Well he has had over 500 snaps with the Pats* so I would think he may be a bit more valuable signing him to the PS than lets say a guy like Austin Proehl. Only 1 penalty in all those snaps.

Played at Iowa, bounced around the league a lot but been with NE since 2017. Probably played with Boettger on the Hawkeyes. If they released him there's probably a reason, but you can never have enough OL.

Does anyone need Intel on the Pats? Their gameplan is pretty straight forward. Defense, run ball, control clock and make 3rd downs manageable for rookie QB. Done.

SECRET SQUIRREL
He's the son of Kirk Ferentz from Iowa who McBeane have a close relationship with so I could definitely see us putting in a claim for him. Subtle intel from an offensive lineman with the team for a number of years and active for two games this year re: silent counts, hand signals, what to expect as far as play calls in certain down and distances, deception, how they cheat*. Straight Hucklebuck
I think its a no brainer for us. Our lineman grades on PFF are abysmal.

Ferentz was a coach for Belichick in Cleveland and is close with him. May be a case of a low talent player benefiting from his dad’s connection to BB. MJS
We're not going to find any upgrades at this point. I know everyone is frustrated with the oline, but with the NFL wide olineman shortage, anyone worth a shot is on a roster.

stevestojan
I was at the game in the awful city of Jacksonville. I can say with some level of confidence that any o-lineman with NFL experience would be an upgrade to the garbage line we have now. I don’t care about injuries. Every team deals with injuries. Next man up can’t be a turnstile and be the main reason we couldn’t score a single TD against the ***** Jags.

I just don’t think he’s the worst guard in the league. I do think Cody Ford is the worst guard in the league. Some players are better scheme/teams fits than others. We know for sure that 74 doesn’t belong on this team. We know he’s a supreme liability. Ferentz might be a liability as well….. we just don’t know it as a fact. FlaFitz1
Take it for what it's worth - according to PFF Jon Feliciano has a 59.1 rating, Daryl Williams is 65.3, Ike Boettger is 56.3, Cody Ford has a rating of 49 and James Ferentz scores a 48.5 Edited November 10, 2021 by FlaFitz1

Bob in STL
Just now, NewEra said: We don’t know that he’s as bad as Ford……that’s the point. The point is we don’t know but the Bills coaches and front office staff probably think that they do. If Spencer Brown can’t go, then I prefer they try either Jamal Williams or Ryan Bates at RG over Ford. They are already on the team, they know the playbook and the line calls. If we picked up Ferentz tonight he would not even be ready to play Sunday anyway.

I’d have to disagree with their assessment. agree regarding Bates or Douglas (not Williams). And if Brown plays and Williams plays RG, I’d rather see Bates or Douglas in there for boettger. I thought I liked Ike. Then I really started to watch him play. I’d rather have a different backup. Let’s see if either of these guys are better.imo
