1st Ammendment NoMas Posted January 20, 2021 Share Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) Taron Johnson's 101 yd pick 6 has to be in the top #5, if not #1 play in Bills history. With "Wide Right", "The Music City Miracle" we had so many plays go the other way for this franchise but now I see new light. Instead of blowing plays at critical points in the game, we are making them. I'd love to see a list and even video of more of the GREAT BILLS PLAYS so we can get pumped up for Sunday and add even more to the list. Who remembers? Who's got them? POST THEM HERE AND GO BILLS!!!! If we go on to win the superbowl, it has to be up there with some of the most impactful plays in franchise history. BillsFanSD Posted January 20, 2021 Share Posted January 20, 2021 I know people will groan at this, but if we're looking for "that single play that all by itself changed the trajectory of the franchise" then Dalton-to-Boyd has to be right up there with Johnson's pick six. I definitely DO think it belongs on the short list of "Greatest Bills plays to be remembered forever" however. It was the deciding play in a super tight, hard fought playoff game that decided who went to the AFC Championship game! I can't really agree with the Talley int/TD and not so sure about the Byrd punt return (I was only 5 and don't remember it, but just from the description it doesn't seem like it made a difference in the big picture), but otherwise they all belong up there. Has anybody mentioned "the hit".....in the 60's when Bills lb Mike Stratton put a shoulder into the ribs of Keith Lincoln in the afc title game, and broke is ribs. This sent the crowd into a frenzy, discombobulating the Broncos offense leading very quickly to a pick-six and a fumble inside their own five yard line. Within a minute and a half of game time the Bills had gone from being on the verge of a 15 point deficit to an 8 point lead. The Bills held on to beat the Broncos by one point, won their next six games and were rolling. They pretty much didn't look back for the next four seasons after the blocked field goal against the Broncos (except in Super Bowls). Besides obviously breaking the drought it had bigger ramifications imo than just that: Does the team trade up for Josh in the offseason if the Bills don't make the playoffs? I mean God Bless Tyrod and not trying to knock him but the playoff game versus the Jaguars I think showed pretty much everyone he'd only get you so far. If that doesn't happen the team maybe rolls with him another year or goes after Kirk Cousins. Would the FO and fans be as patient with McDermott's rebuild in 2018 if the team was still in a drought? Yes 9-7 wouldn't be bad but I just don't think McDermott's Trust The Process lines would have flown without breaking the drought. Imo as well 2018 was pivotal to establishing the foundations of what we are seeing now. Trading Watkins would have been a big WTF I think otherwise. So yes Bills fans should still always be eternally grateful to those two. But I'd mention Beebe's strip of Lett in the Super Bowl. He made the kick and recovery. I think it gave the team the momentum and hope that they could comeback and win.
